Austin POV

"Austin, wake up!" I heard someone exclaim.

"What the-!" My eyes shot open and I saw Dez and Jesse staring down at me.

"Are you okay, dude? You were freaking out in your sleep," Dez said worriedly.

"Ally, she-" I jumped up and ran down the hall, ignoring Jesse's "Austin!"

I practically threw myself into Ally's room just as the guys caught up to me.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Dez asked.

"I had a nightmare. Ally…awake… didn't remember me…" I was gasping for air. I just about collapsed, but Jesse grabbed my arm to steady me.

"Austin, it's okay, she's still in bed. She hasn't changed," Jesse said. "Come on, we aren't supposed to be in here right now."

My friends steered me back out towards the waiting room and sat me down on a chair. "I'll go get you a bottle of water from the cafeteria," Dez said before running off.

Jesse turned to me when he was gone. "What happened?"

"Trish, Dez, Maci and I were sitting in Ally's room and then she woke up and said 'Who are you?' to me," I told him. I ran my hands down my face. "Oh my god, it was so real."

"Well, you're okay, it was just a bad dream," he said.

I nodded, trying to catch my breath. "Where's Maci?"

"Trish has her in the cafeteria; she's trying to get her to eat something. The others went home a couple of hours ago."

"I don't even remember falling asleep," I said.

"You're probably exhausted. I don't blame you." He hesitated. "So, we haven't really gotten a chance to talk about the whole brother-sister thing. I mean, I was supposed to have breakfast with Ally and talk about it, but…you know."

"Look, man, it's cool with me," I told him. "Weird, but cool."

"You're sure?"

I nodded. "Yeah. Now I don't have to worry about being jealous." I stopped. "Did I just admit that out loud? To you, of all people?"

"Uh…yeah."

"Whoops."

"Look, Austin, you had nothing to worry about before. Ally and I were just friends. Still are, obviously, but now we found out we're related and it's kind of a repulsive thought now," he said.

"Hey, watch it," I warned. "That's my girlfriend you're talking about."

"No offence," he said, putting his hands up. "But she's my sister."

"Ally's mom hasn't talked to either of you since that day?"

Jesse shook his head. "Nope. And I don't want to talk to her right now. She knew I was her son the whole time and she gave me the cold shoulder half the time she saw me. Some mother."

"Hey now, she was just doing what she thought was best for you. You and Ally," I told him.

"Still, she could have told us. Especially when she knew we had met each other and were hanging out."

I shrugged. "Isn't it at least good that you know the truth now? That she didn't continue hiding it from you and told you herself?"

"I guess," he muttered. "I'm still mad, and so is Ally."

"You two are going to have to figure it out when she wakes up. This isn't my problem."

Dez came back with the water bottle. "Who knew hospital cafeteria lines were so big." He handed me the bottle. "Here you go."

"Thanks," I said gratefully, downing half of it. "I needed that."

"Clearly. You're still sweating. Are you sure you're okay?"

"Yes, I'm fine."

"Maybe you should go home and get some rest. Trish and I can watch Maci, instead of us going to get your clothes all the time," Dez offered. "Not that that's a problem or anything. It's just that you look exhausted."

I shook my head. "No way. I'm not leaving Ally."

"Suit yourself," he sighed. "By the way, Trish is feeding Maci cake."

"As long as it's not a lot," I said. "Then she can have it."

He wiggled his hand from side to side like people do when they're saying something is iffy, or not quite good enough. "Meh."

"Dez."

"I'm kidding," he said. "It wasn't a lot. We aren't stupid."

"Meh," I mocked him.

He punched me in the arm, causing me to laugh. "Thanks."

A nurse came into the room, shaking out her hand. I noticed it was Ally's nurse.

"Cara? What's wrong with your hand?" I asked.

"Well, I came here to tell you that Ally's awake. And apparently she doesn't like when someone is trying to fix her IV; she punched my hand."

I jumped up, along with Dez and Jesse. "She's awake?"

"Yeah. She might be a little hazy. But you're free to go in."

"I'll wait," Jesse said.

"Thanks man," I said before following Cara.

Ally POV

Why was it always me that ended up in the hospital? I swear, I was a walking disaster.

My eyes fluttered open to see the familiar white room, the familiar pink gown, and the ever so familiar IV in my wrist that was dripping blood into my body. Perfect. My brain felt weird, as if I wasn't really comprehending things so well.

I caught sight of Austin sitting on my bed. He grinned widely when he saw me and brushed my hair out of my face. "Hey, Als," he said softly.

"Hey rockstar," I croaked quietly. "Sorry, I was awake but I must have dozed off."

"Yeah, Cara told me you punched her when she tried to fix your IV."

"It's painful, alright?" I stopped. "What exactly happened? The last thing I remember was talking to the cops in the house."

"You passed out from blood loss," he told me, taking my hand.

"What?" Then I remembered I had cut my arm open on the broken lamp and glanced down at my arm. It was stitched up from my shoulder down to my elbow. "Oh, god. I didn't think it was that bad."

"You lost twenty five percent of your blood."

"Jesus," I said, eyes widening.

"How are you feeling?" Austin asked.

"Drugged," I breathed, resting my head back on the pillow. I cleared my throat to try and help my voice but it didn't work so well. "Where's Maci?"

"Trish has her. Don't worry, she's okay. The one detective grabbed her before you collapsed. Jesse and Dez are in the waiting room."

I sighed. "Thank god she's okay. My head hurts. And my arm is throbbing."

"The nurse said you might be a little hazy for a while," he said. "And sore. I'm just so happy you're awake. You were out for almost four days."

"Four days?" I repeated. He nodded, and I spoke again. "Wow. Well, sorry about your tour, but you really didn't have to come all the way back."

"I don't care about the tour; I care about your safety. I was downright terrified when I got to the house. You were lying in a pool of your own blood," he said.

I shuddered. "Gross." I spoke again after getting a good look at him. "Are you okay? You look a little shaken up."

"Uh, nothing. Just a dream I had about you earlier when I fell asleep in the waiting room," he said.

"Dream? What happened?"

"It's nothing."

"Austin," I said sternly. "Tell me. You look scared."

He sighed shakily. "I dreamt you woke up and didn't have a clue who I was."

I softened at the look on his face. He seriously looked like a stricken child. "Austin."

"It was so real, Ally, I literally thought it was happening. I ran back here to make sure," he told me. "Do you have any idea how heart broken I would have been if it was true?"

"C'mere," I said, holding out my arms. I pulled him into a hug, and he just completely broke down, burying his face in my neck. "Hey, hey, it's okay, Austin, I'm right here. And I very much know who you are."

"I almost lost you again," he sobbed. He was shaking.

"Shh." I ran my good hand through his hair and rubbed his back. "I'm okay, babe. I'm fine. If it makes you feel better, just let it all out."

"Am I not already doing that?" he muttered, making me laugh a little. I just held him while he cried. I didn't think he would be like this, but it was good to know that he would be okay now that he saw I was fine.
