Chapter 18

*Normal POV*

Her eyes turned to marbles. The tears blinding her vision were forgotten and something willed her legs to move towards the battle ground.

"Because of this power, Shimon is brother to the Vongola Family, and because of this power we were betrayed by Vongola!"

Anna kept walking with lifeless steps.

"This flame exists to regain Shimon's pride."

"You're wrong. We understand your painful past and the reason of your anger."

Closer and closer she walked.

"But hurting people won't regain your pride!"

She halted in front of them, waiting for orders on her next move. Enma gently tugged her to his side and she obediently complies.

"Anna doesn't belong next to you! She belongs with us!"

"Who are you to judge? We've been with her longer than you have."

"She would never betray us!"

He tried pulling her over to his side but her feet stay planted to the ground.

"See? She was never on your side."

"What have you done with Anna?"

"I have done nothing."

"Anna would never act like this. You obviously did something! Return Anna to us!"

"Arrogance. Stay back Adelheid. I'll be fine alone. I can take down Tsuna and his guardians."

"Huh. If you say so."

"Che, I'd like to see you try."

"!"

"AGH!"

"NGH!"

"AH!"

"UGH!"

People were flung left and right. There were craters in the walls with crumbling dust everywhere but it had happened so quickly.

"Yamamoto Takeshi was an illusion as we thought. Did you think we wouldn't see through it?"

"Tsuna kun, I almost believed you."

"What are you trying to do?!"

"But in the end…"

"STOP!"

Everyone fell to the floor, limp and bleeding.

"YOU GUYS!"

"Do you know why I haven't attacked you yet?"

"I want you to taste the pain the first boss of Shimon was dealt by Primo."

"ENMA!"

"We're not done, Kozato!"

"You think it'll be that easy?!"

"I'm ready."

The sudden force of gravity weighed on them and they were crushed into the ground. They may not have been crushed but their rings were. It was lucky they didn't die.

"Everyone!"

Enma looked on with bored eyes. Tsuna glared with adrenaline filled hatred.

"STOP!"

"When we first met, I forgot to seal the ring. I was surprised too."

"Why, Enma?! Why would someone like you do this?!"

"It's your own fault. I watched you. Until I met you, I thought that Vongola the tenth was someone scary and hateful, but he turned out to be someone unexpected and a bit like me. So I thought you would be different from the past bosses. That we might just be able to understand one another."

In the background, Anna began fidgeting and her arm twitched occasionally. It was obvious that she was about to regain her senses soon.

"But you!"

Tsuna was thrown upwards. The utter force created a crater in the previously elegant ceiling.

"Tsunayoshi kun!"

"How weak Vongola. And this power is still incomplete. The Shimon ring and blood of the Shimon's first boss merge together in seven days. In other words, his power right now is only a seventh of what it will truly become at completion."

"This is only a seventh?!"

"What's wrong? This is your only chance to defeat me. In a week, you won't even be able to lay a finger on me."

"Ngh…Shut up! AGH!"

"Tsuna!"

"VOIIII! Stop right there!"

"Outsiders should stay out of it."

Ice crystals shot at them at a rapid speed and in a flash, they couldn't move.

"Let's leave Adelheid. It looks much too easy to kill them. If we killed them instantaneously, they won't taste the pain Shimon has gone through."

"You're right. We can kill them any time. What we need to show them is a living hell."

"I'll take you along too Chrome. We have date plans~"

"Chrome!"

Unfocused eyes tried moving towards Tsuna but failed to do so and only made Aoba give the signal that it was time to go.

"Tsuna kun, you'd better worry about yourself."

"Today is the start of Vongola's end and the beginning of the new Shimon."

Finally the glass in her eyes shattered right before Rauji Ooyama scooped her up like a potato sack. Her eyes were unfocused before landing on Tsuna who was lying on the floor. He looked up just in time to catch the widening of her eyes when she took in what was going on.

Then they were gone from view and the pain had taken over Tsuna.

"OI! Rauji! Let me go! Where are you taking me?! Put me down!"

"…No."

"Why not?! I'm your…"

She abruptly stopped and her eyes immediately drooped.

"Friend…"

"Hmm, what did you say Anna?"

"Am I a friend?"

Her downcast eyes looked to the ground.

"Yes? Why do you ask?"

She put on a fake, annoyingly high pitched voice.

"Then put me down."

"Ah, but I have orders from-"

"Put her down Rauji."

"Okay then…"

At that time everyone had stopped walking and turned to face Anna except Enma.

"Thank you Enma. Also I always wanted to ask, am I a friend?"

"Yes."

Her voice switched tones to sarcastic so quickly you might've thought it was a different person.

"Friend... Ha please! I'm just a tool you can use to get what you want! Friend! What a funny word, it's so fake. I can't even believe that-"

"Anna!"

"I believed you guys. Especially you, you traitor Enma! I trusted you!"

"What can you get out of accusing me?"

She pointed her finger accusingly at Enma.

"I can't get much but I can get the satisfaction of this."

Without a moment's hesitation, she slapped Enma.

"That was from me, Tsuna, my mother, everyone. I hate you, and I'm leaving."

Enma was obviously distressed at the turn of the situation and whispered to Julie to do something. With a click of his fingers, Anna paused in her step and spun around to face them.

The Shimon Family and Anna continued the journey to the ship that would take them to the deserted island.

No one bothered to question how her makeup was streaming down her face as they walked.
