My mission was simple.
In. Out. Done.
I completed it with ease, but had one major subject on my mind.
Clint.
I hope he was okay. He said that he might have to fire if things get out of hand, but hopefully it was nothing too dangerous.
We've only had a short amount of time together.
He felt so good against me.
I wish I could go back to 3 days ago and live in that moment over and over again.
I was flying back to Avengers Tower on a S.H.I.E.L.D helicopter and I was looking out over the recovering city.
Most places had been fixed, including the shawarma shop we ate in, but a few building hadn't been mended and the sides of the roads still had some dust on them.
Everyone is saying that we 'Saved the city'. We didn't. We helped defend it from a mad demigod. And that meant less red on my ledger.
I've been clearing it since day 1 of Clint bringing me to S.H.I.E.L.D.
It is clearing, but just slowly it seems.
I still had to repay Barton. I don't know how I will, but I need to.
The helicopter landed on the roof of the tower perfectly and I got out, went over to the lift and pressed the button to the living room floor.
"JARVIS, is Clint back?" I asked.
"No, Miss Romanoff. He is still on his mission in Thailand."
"Is there any news from him?" I asked as the elevator arrived and I walked out to see the others all sitting on the sofas.
Hill and Steve looked very close. And I mean very. Their heads were pressed together sideways, like they were conjoined. Steve had his hand around her back and Hill had a hand on his knee.
I walked over to them and JARVIS replied "There is a voicemail for you from Mr. Barton from 2 days ago, Miss Romanoff."
I walked into the kitchen, away from the others, and said "JARVIS, play message."
"Hey Nat. It's me. Clint."
He really thinks that I have forgotten who he is?
"I just rang you to say that I miss you and that I really enjoyed the other night. Like really enjoyed it."
Thank goodness!
"I really want to see you, but my mission still has 5 days left, so I'll be there on Friday."
So another 3 days. Without him. Yay.
"Anyway, I just wanted to say that I love you...never forget that. I love you."
"End of message" JARVIS said.
3 days alone. Why can't he just come home already?
I sighed running a hand through my hair and sulking my way back to the living room.
I walked in and Pepper noticed that I looked upset.
"What is it, Natasha?"
"Clint doesn't come back for another 3 days."
"Poor you. We're watching a movie. Wanna join to take your mind off him?"
"Yeah. Sure." I said, taking a seat on one of the chairs.
Maria was now lying her head on Steve's shoulder with his arm wrapped around her. It just reminded me of me and Barton. Damn it, I missed him.
They didn't seem to care about Fury's warning from a couple of days ago, which they really should've taken into mind, seeing as at that moment he decided to arrive on the living room floor.
"WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING AGENT HILL?" Fury's voice boomed through the living room.
Hill jumped away from Rogers and fell onto the floor out of fright.
Rogers went to her side to help her immediately.
"JARVIS, stop the film." Pepper said as Fury paced...well furiously...across the floor and Hill got up into a standing position with the help of Rogers offering his hand.
"It was nothing." she defended.
"Really? It doesn't look like nothing..." he said gesturing to their still joined hands.
They pulled away from each other immediately.
"That's it Hill. You're out."
"Sir?" she questioned. She was getting fired.
"I don't care whether you stay or leave this stupid tower. I never give second chances, except for the people in S.H.I.E.L.D I can trust, but you know me well enough that I don't give third chances to anyone." he moved forward and came face to face with her saying "Anyone."
And with that he left.
Once the lift had shut, Hill put her hands over her face.
"Oh God. What am I gonna do?" she asked.
"What do you mean Maria?" Steve said.
She turned her face up to look at him, tear stains on her cheeks.
"Well, I can't stay here. You don't need me and Fury just fired me. I have no use."
"Hey," Steve said grabbing her wrist and turning her around when she began to walk away. "we will always need you. I want you to stay."
She looked a bit surprised and said "But why would you need me? You have the others to teach you how to use technology. I'm not needed here."
She began to walk towards the lift again, but Steve blocked her path and put his hands on her shoulders.
"Do you really think I want you here just to teach me how to use technology?" he asked.
She looked at the floor and responded "I thought that's all you needed me for. You have the others now."
"Look at me." he commanded quite forcefully, but I could tell that he wanted to make his point clear to her.
"I want you here with me. I don't just want you to teach me how to use technology. I need you as a friend too, you know. You're part of the team. And as for not having a purpose, you can stay here to make sure we don't go mental and start fighting each other all the time. Sound good?" he asked.
She took a moment to consider everything and then nodded.
He pulled her into a hug and smiled.
I couldn't see Maria's face, but I bet she was smiling too.
They were such a good couple.
"So..." Stark started. Always the one to ruin moments.
Hill and Rogers pulled away from each other and Tony continued.
"We gonna finish watching this film or what team?"
Steve and Maria nodded as they walked over to sit on the sofa together.
Throughout the movie, I could see them edging closer to each other and by the end, they had both fallen asleep on the sofa. Hill was sitting between Cap's legs and he had his arms around her fragile body. Her arms were on top of his and they looked so sweet.
Stark brought out a camera to take a photo of them, but Pepper snatched the camera out of his hands and gave him a stern look that said 'Don't you dare'.
Tony pouted and then told JARVIS to bring the lights up.
Steve and Maria didn't wake up, but they just shifted their position, so they were spooning.
"How adorable." Pepper commented, her grin reaching her eyes.
This was quite a short chapter, but I thought that I would just end it here, because to be quite honest I didn't know what to write. Captain Hill will have their time, but it will be near the end, because I want to finish this, write a Captain Hill story linked to the events that have happened in this story and then continue writing showing Clintasha's story aswell as Captain Hill's...if you see what I mean x :) Please review!
