Chapter 15

Author's Note: I'm running out of ideas to fill in 22 days' worth of lovey dovey. I need some suggestions!

Eustass woke up at the crack of dawn. The sun had yet to rise and he took in Law's sleeping face with a small sad smile. "One day gone, twenty-one days left to live. How can I bear to part with you Law? I want to love you forever and hold you in my arms. If I am dead, will you cry for me? Will you hate me? Actually, do you love me the way I love you? You had always been rather fickle about things. Can this remaining time I have with you be halcyonic? Even if it were all a lie, I don't want this to end…"

Several hours passed in idyll as Eustass witnessed the birth of a new sun for a new day. He wondered how many more suns he would live to see. "Then again, the sun rises everyday doesn't it?"

Beside him, Law chuckled as he greeted Eustass with a morning kiss. "The sun rises everyday Eustass-ya. Unless the world is destroyed and logic changed, the sun will always rise with the birth of a new day without fail."

Eustass smirked and devoured Law's lips ravenously. "Hey, I'm hungry."

Law rolled his eyes. "Don't use such hackneyed pick-up lines…" before he could continue, Eustass's stomach rumbled and Law paused. The surgeon clutched his sides while rolling on the ground in tears and laughter. Eustass turned as scarlet as his hair while yelling at the man. Somehow that strange turn of events led them to chasing each other on the island.

It was a sleepy afternoon after they had eaten their fill. The river in the forest had great freshwater carps. Resting in the shadows beneath ancient trees, the lovers nuzzled gently.

"Say Eustass-ya, I never thought you would use a pick up line to get the person you want."

Eustass smirked. "I can be a master in one."

"Oh? Is that so?" Law's interest piqued. "Why don't we have a challenge then? The first one to run out of pick-up lines loses."

Eustass guffawed. "I won't be running out of that any time soon. In fact, I'll make you blush before that happens."

Law gave a sexy grin. "I'll like to see you try."

Eustass trailed his fingers down Law's collarbone. "You know they said don't play with fire because you'll only get burned."

Law moved closer to Eustass with a lazy smile in place. "Really? I don't think I mind getting burned by fire like you. Your flame red hair has already scorched my heart so badly I'll never be the same again."

Eustass grimaced slightly at the mention of red hair. He never really liked it. Kissing a hand, Eustass murmured into Law's ear, "Rather than the color of my hair, I'll prefer the color of your eyes. Eyes are the mirrors of our souls. Will you let me peer into yours?"

Law looked into Eustass's eyes. "My soul is off limits but you can have my heart."

They mingled their breaths without breaking eye contact. "How generous... I was thinking if you didn't give it I might have to steal it."

Only an inch apart, Law whispered, "Oh Eustass-ya, you don't know how perfect that would have been. I would have stolen yours in return. We could commit a perfect crime together then."

A steamy exchange later, they broke apart with Law panting for air. "We could never commit a perfect crime. After all, my heart had already been in your hands from the very beginning. I'm only afraid that someday you may fly away with it and never return it."

Law looked deeply into Eustass's eyes. No mirth could be found and Law felt robbed of his breath. Eustass had lied when he mentioned being a master at pick-up lines. Thinking back, Eustass never claimed to be a master. He only said he could be. Law felt heat creeping up his neck. Everything said had been words from the bottom of Eustass's heart. The earnest eyes made Law feel vulnerable. Unable to tear his eyes from Eustass's captivating stare, Law cursed his biological reaction as heat invaded his cheeks.

A flash of charming smile made Law's heart skip a beat. "Told you I would make you blush before that…"

Elbowing the man not so subtly, Law tore off into the denser parts of the forest. Eustass laughed and followed. Soon after, he spotted the olive skinned man high up in the tree. Curious to where the surgeon's line of sight was, Eustass clambered up the tree with practiced ease.

Eustass reached the top of the canopy and sat with Law. The sunlight was too strong and he could not see what Law was squinting at.

Slowly, the shimmering became clearer and Eustass thought he saw a yellow spot. The spot moved slowly and emotions soared. Was it Law's crew?

Law's breath hitched and Eustass shouted out with joy. Impatient, he used his devil fruit ability to draw the submarine in master than it should. Law choked back tears. He missed his crew so much.

Eustass grinned at Law when Bepo came out to meet them. He swung a heavy arm over Law's scrawny shoulders. "Glad they came eh?"

Law chuckled and kissed Eustass on the cheek. "That goes without saying."

Bepo's jaw fell while Penguin and Shachi opted to erase their memory of the kiss. A flirtatious Law was something none of the crew knew. The only kind of smile Law wore when he wasn't drunk was sarcastic. The other kind was reserved for Bepo. Having Law smile s openly with another pirate captain broke the logic in their mind.

"What?" Law asked. None of the crew replied except for Bepo who was crying and slurring over incoherent words. Law petted Bepo who sniffled while Eustass looked smug. Law got annoyed with that obnoxious but devilishly good grin. He snapped at the man to wipe that off his face before dragging the bulky man back to the submarine. Without much fuss the crew set off with their captain and newly found 'lover'. No one dared question the surgeon in fear of decapitation.

Law was satisfied. No one bothered them and after dinner, they could have some alone time. Bepo had been the only one displaying hostility towards Eustass much to the red haired man's distress. Having a Kung Fu Polar Bear as a nemesis could be the second worst thing. The worst thing was pretending to like women that could never be compared to Trafalgar Law.

Petting Bepo and compromising to tell him their secret when he was ready, the surgeon brought Eustass to his cabin. "I'm sorry about my crew's behavior. Bepo is slightly overprotective of me. He means no harm."

Eustass laughed nervously. "Yes of course. His sharp teeth and powerful paws aren't enough to kill me. My bones should be stronger than the frying pan he punched a hole through accidentally."

Law snickered. "You're just paranoid."

Eustass snapped. "Paranoid? I almost got…"

Law silenced Eustass with a long kiss making Eustass forget what he was about to say. They still had enough time not to talk about the inevitable. Law wanted to live each day with Eustass to the fullest.

"How about accepting a token of apology from me?"

Eustass cocked an eyebrow that was hardly existent. The mischievous glint in Law's eyes made the man leer. "What could you possibly do to appease me?"

Law sat on Eustass's lap. "This," he emphasized and met Eustass's parted lips. No one questioned their captain when he woke up late the next morning looking shagged and disheveled. Eustass on the other hand seemed to be bouncing on his heels.

"I guess we should not question their relationship…" Penguin advised Bepo who sulked. Shachi nodded, knowing some things were left better unsaid.

Author's Note: I'm so sorry! I didn't know any pick-up lines so that was all I could come up with after asking around, Google-ing and thinking for half a day.
