Chapter 16

Day 3

Author's Note: I apologise. I really hate the idea of giving up halfway so I wrecked my brains for this one. Life is making me busy but I swear to see the end of this no matter how long it takes. Thank you for sticking with me. I need more ideas about romance. It isn't something I'm comfortable and familiar with. Sorry about all the grammatical errors before. I'll do my best to read through before publishing.

Law woke up early to see the sleeping face of Eustass. Eustass never shared anything about his past and the deal he made with Des about bringing him back from the void. Law knew of the limited number of days they had but did not know when. He wanted to live with Eustass forever if possible. Thinking about the limited days made the surgeon depressed but he did well to conceal it, thinking of the time spent together as a good dream that would soon turn to a nightmare when he awaken.

"I want to marry him… I wonder what the crew will say about it. I don't even want to find the One Piece now. Having him with me is an even greater treasure than whatever Gold Rogers left behind. I only wish we had more time…"

Eustass groaned as he tossed over to the other side and frowned. He opened his eyes sleepily, cursing the Gods for waking him up. Law chuckled at how Eustass behaved so childishly. He pecked Eustass on the forehead. "Time to wake up, sleepy head."

Eustass groaned as he tumbled out of Law's bed. Law was momentarily rendered speechless as Eustass yawned and stretched. A few seconds later, only laughter could be heard and Eustass gave the doctor a puzzled stare. Law continued to clutch his aching belly. Tears were percolated on his lashes as he took deep breaths to calm himself down the laughing attack.

"What?" the red head demanded. The doctor took another good long look at the man and burst into another mini fit of laughter, annoying the pale man.

Eustass got annoyed and tackled Law to the bed, tickling him and forcing the olive skinned man to surrender.

"I'll say! I'll say! Stop… I can't breathe…" Law gasped and Eustass stopped the tickle attack. He looked at the surgeon expectedly. Law smiled and then grinned widely before ruffling the unruly hair.

"You have really adorable bed hair. We didn't have a bed back on that island so I never got the chance to see it. However, it's obvious now that your hair isn't naturally perfect. I really like how it resembles red spider lilies instead of the usual burning flames. It sticks out in almost every other direction with a mind of its own. I wonder how you get that to look so perfect and under control."

Eustass snorted at that and climbed of Law. Law sat up as Eustass stretched. "I don't usually care about it but the one who manages it for me is Killer. He isn't here so I'm not going to fuss over it."

Law huffed. "I never imagined you to be such a slob. Killer is right to take care of your image for you. We can't have the merciless Eustass Kid to go around looking like a daisy, can we? Who would be treating you seriously then?"

Eustass growled at that. As much as Law was right, there was nothing Eustass could do about it. Killer was the one minding all the trivial details. Eustass was the one in charge of planning the course and creating a name for the crew as the captain. He was in charge of sniffing out all the troubles and killing all the people he hated. Killer finished everything else from his bounty pictures to cleaning up the mess he made from the killing sprees.

Law chuckled at the troubled look. Eustass was too honest at times and Law envied that greatly. His own past with Doflamingo made it difficult for him to display his thoughts openly on his face. Eustass on the other hand had no difficulties and wore his heart on his sleeves. No one truly understood Law because he never spoke his mind but Eustass didn't care about what Law thought. He just barged into his life and took control the way he always did with his life. Eustass was a brute and Law hated brutes. However this one brute changed everything in Law's life from making him fall in love, to saving him and sacrificing his own lifespan in exchange for Law's. Law never asked to be brought back to life. He was content with knowing he could do something from his heart for the first time in his life. It was his last act at being human. Eustass had to ruin it all by exchanging his own time with Law's expired one.

"How about I help you out with all these details? I think you should take a shower first then we'll decide on what to do with that hair." Eustass smirked. "Are you going to take one with me?"

Law blushed at the implied meaning. He looked away. "I want to still be able to walk today." Eustass took this as a challenge and feigned surprise. "I'm amazed you can still claim to walk today. I thought I was too rough on you last night but it seems that you are stronger than you look. I think we need a second round."

Law paled as Eustass dragged him to the bathroom and locked the door. If any of the heart pirates heard anything, no one mentioned it at lunch.

The day passed as eventfully as it could in a submarine. Law had the time of his life toying with Eustass's hair. He styled them differently and got Eustass to give his comments. Eustass was irritated at how he was becoming a form of entertainment. However, seeing Law enjoy himself so much made it difficult for him to stop the doctor. The entire afternoon went by with Law playing hairdresser and Eustass grumbling about how Law was having too much fun at his expense. Law denied it but the smile on his face told Eustass otherwise.

During dinner, Shachi informed Law that they might be approaching an island in a few days' time. Law was happy to hear the news as so was Bepo and Eustass. Eustass told Law he was going to contact his crew the first thing they do when they got on the island. Law smiled and started to formulate a plan to propose and hopefully wed Eustass on that island.

That night after Eustass had fallen asleep, Law carefully took the measurements for Eustass's ring as well as for a suit made. He smiled at the sleeping captain. Eustass looked completely different when he slept. It was almost unbelievable that this man was a bloodthirsty pirate who sailed the Grand Line.

"I wonder how much time we have left together…"
