Chapter 7

Jethro called the next day to tell me that McGee didn't find anything, but he would keep looking.

Later in the day the phone rang again and again no answer and no ID. I called Jethro. He had McGee look into my number right then. McGee found the cell phone towers it pinged, but just in DC. The signal got lost just east of the city. McGee wanted to get me a second phone to call them when a call came in. Jethro told me that he and McGee would be over this evening to set it up.

"Ok. Who would be doing this and why?"

Jethro didn't know or maybe he didn't want to give into conjecture. He said good-by and hung up.

Jethro and Tim McGee showed up at six to look at my cell phone and to bring me the burn phone to call Tim when I got a call from my "friend." It would alert him and he could trace the calls. I hoped it would work. Tim left and Jethro stayed to make sure I was okay. I seemed to be and he left soon after.

The next day I left my phone in my purse at school and only paid attention to it at lunch time. There had been three calls. This was getting annoying, bothersome and creepy. When I arrived home that day, a letter was in my mailbox addressed to me. All the letters in the letter were cut out of magazines and newspapers. I called Jethro at once. He came right over and brought another man with him. His name was Tony. I didn't catch the last name. Jethro said we needed to call Metro and have a detective come and talk to us. We called and a Detective Addams came and took our statements. He seemed to know Jethro and Tony and talked the case together for a few minutes. The Detective left and then Tony left too. Jethro said he wanted me somewhere else. He was taking me to his house for a few days. I wanted to go. I was beginning to feel like I was being watched as well. What the heck was happening?

Chapter 8

The next morning Jethro drove me to work. I used to walk from my apartment and I could have walked from his house. He wouldn't let me. It was too dangerous. Tony would be there to pick me up at four-thirty. I wasn't to walk home under any circumstances. If no one came for me I was to stay at the school and call him. That's fine with me. At this point I really wondered what kind of job Gibbs had. It seemed like a cop to me. My Ex, Ralph had been a cop in Connecticut. I could sense that about Tony. Gibbs didn't quite have that feel to him, but close. He had said he was a federal agent but I would ask tonight at dinner.

McGee came home with Jethro to have dinner with us. He ended up staying the night with us. He had the spare room and I had the master bedroom. Jethro slept on the couch. I asked point blank if he and McGee were cops, Jethro said, "No, they were federal agents and they worked for NCIS." My middle son was enlisted in the Navy and I knew what NCIS meant. I was happy to be with two agents.

We made it through the week with no more phone calls but another letter turned up in my mailbox. No return address and no finger prints were found on any part of it. The person sending it was very careful. They were not sending it through the postal service. They had to drop in my mailbox. There were no fingerprints there either. Jethro put McGee on mailbox watch. They found nothing

Chapter 9

We were going to the beach this weekend again. Tony, McGee, and someone named Ziva were going as well. These were all people who worked with Jethro. He said there might be a couple more people but they had to work some things out. Dom loved having people use the house. That meant less vandalism and less costs for him when it came time for summer use.

We drove to Chesapeake Bay, in two cars. Jethro and I rode in his pickup truck and Tony and Ziva came in Tony's new Mustang. McGee and someone named Abby would be joining sometime later. The others couldn't make it after all. We stopped at the grocery store in the town and picked up food and drinks for the weekend. I had brought hot chocolate and Gibbs has brought his special blend of coffee.

I wasn't sure what to make of the relationship between Tony and Ziva. It was a great partnership, but I think there is something more there. They are trying too hard to deny it. Why do that?

I felt rather special. I was going to be protected by five federal agents.

The beach house has three bedrooms and we would have to share them. I didn't mind. Jethro didn't want me out of his sight so that meant that I would share with him. Tony and Ziva were in another and Tim and Abby were in the third.

After we got the food into the house, Tony and Ziva went for a walk on the beach. They didn't hold hands even though you could see that they wanted to. They went towards the town portion of the beach. We were staying on the private part. Tony and Ziva were going to put on a show for whoever was watching us. Jethro believed that whoever was watching me picked me up in Chesapeake Bay.

While walking Tony took Ziva's hand. "The boss really likes this woman. Why else would he have us do this?"

"He wants to save her life; however, I do think that they both care about each other. It seems like it is a new relationship that neither is comfortable with yet."

Tony nodded in agreement. "Show time Ziva." He pulled her closer to him in a sign of affection. Ziva reached up to touch his face before putting a kiss on his cheek. Tony held her in his arms while they pretended to look at the beach and the sea and both wished they could do this for real. In reality they were scanning the beach for anyone else. There was a constable's car in the parking lot. He had to be here somewhere. Jethro had told them about how the town felt about the constable and his own discomfort with the job he has done.
