Maddie POV

I sat without stirring carefully analyzing the situation before me. Of course the obvious solution would be to wait yet I hesitated for the ones, and I knew there were two from the warmth in the small room, did not seem hostile. I finally decided on my course of action and tentatively spoke, " Come out or I'll call the police." They whispered before the 2 boys came out carefully. I looked them over, one had black hair that was in a mess and soft sea green eyes that had a look that said they could become hurricanes in seconds. While the second boy was pale and thin to contrast his long dark hair with cold dark eyes that looked as though they once held a warmth that was long lost.

" Can we talk to your mom?" Asked the taller boy with green eyes. " I'm Percy and this is Nico, we were sent from a special camp that thought you may want to enroll."

I thought carefully before motioning that they should sit, my hurricane green eyes flashed in defiance and I saw a spark of interest in Nico's obsidian eyes that softened them momentarily.

My mom returned soon after and paled when the boys mentioned their camp.

"She can't go, she's only 12 and I can keep her with me for a little longer." She spoke with a wavering uncertain voice that made her seem desperate to cling to the scraps of hope. Making up my mind I spoke "Mom I can go with them its ok I'm sure this summer camp is fun besides I can come home at the end." Percy and Nico nodded and I went to go pack, something told me to pack some odds and ends like a teddy bear or picture. I grabbed a cat carrier from the cupboard and coaxed a reluctant cat, Pickle, into it. I walked downstairs quietly and set my suitcase in the large white van before hugging my mom and telling her I would send letters. She blinked tears away and saying that she would contact me at least once a week. I set my cat carrier on my lap as Percy drove us up a long winding road following the strawberry signs.
