CH21
"Did she force herself on you?" Kate prays no.
"No, I kissed her back and did pretty much everything to her that she did to me, for me." Alexis confirms softly.
"Was this the only time?" Kate wonders about her daughter and what she is thinking.
Alexis shakes her head. "We've been having sex once or sometimes twice daily since that first time." Alexis looks like she is waiting for her mom to lower the boom on her. "And mom, I've never had sex like that before. Amanda can do things I didn't even know you could do." Alexis sounds excited.
"It's just, … I've never knew I was multi-orgasmic before. And it turns out so is Amanda. It feels just so different when I hear her moan or scream because of something I'm doing." Alexis is sounding more sure of herself the more she talks.
Kate wraps her arms around her. "I'm happy for you. REALLY! Do you care about her or is it just sex?"
"I don't know, not really. I like her and we have fun together and the sex is amazing. I'm just confused."
"Because she's not a guy." Kate is not really guessing.
Alexis nods her head. "Kinda. …. It's just so complicated."
"Oh sweetie. I don't care if it's a him or a her or an alien. As you can probably tell." Kate is being honest. And gets a giggle from Alexis.
"She/he could be a squid like that one alien from Galaxy Quest for all I care. I just want you to be happy and enjoy your life. That's all. Okay you can include healthy, but that's all. If she makes you happy then I'm happy too and so will your father. Like I would give him a choice if he didn't." Kate smirks.
Alexis giggles. "Okay maybe I want you to be in love too, but that's all. Your father told me you wanted to know if she could come visit."
"Is that okay? I mean it is your house." Alexis goes back to being timid.
"Of course we want her to come. Your father and I will want to see who has stolen our daughter's heart. Or at least has an interest in it. You just have to tell us when and your father is going to schedule a private jet to fly her out here. And I promise we will not interrogate her." Kate draws an X on her chest.
"Do you know what she does for a living?" Kate is wondering.
"She works at a zoo just outside Montreal."
The non-profit that is the Granby Zoo is in the midst of change. "You are kidding me? Did your father tell you that you've been offered a full time position at the zoo working with the elephants?" Kate asks her.
"REALLY! That's great. Oh, but what about Amanda's job in Montreal?" Alexis is actually thinking ahead.
"Then we cross that bridge when we get there. If you two want to get together then you go there or she comes here. Whatever you two decide your father and I will be right behind you. I have no doubt that your sisters will too." Kate assures her.
"You don't think they would, …." And is interrupted by Kate.
"Disown you? Yeah, in 'Never going to happen land' maybe. They will probably scream and break everyone's eardrums and then throw the biggest party that makes one of your father's look tame." Kate starts chuckling.
"Thanks mom, I feel better now." Alexis exhales.
"You didn't actually think we would freak out on you did you? Sweetie anytime she wants to come out here and spend time with you or you to her we'll reserve you both a private jet. Live there or live here, makes no difference to me." Kate tells her while holding her tight and kissing the side of her head.
"Do they have same sex marriage in Canada?" Kate asks if her daughter as looked that far ahead.
"I don't know. It never actually came up. We were too involved in other things to look that far ahead."
"Well even if they don't you can have a private one and we will all be right behind you 100%. All of us. I'm not sure your brothers will totally understand it but I'm sure if you show you are happy they will be happy for you."
"They offered to break both of Raymond's legs for me for what he had done." Alexis agrees.
"I heard about that. They may be young but they have caught onto us being a family pretty good."
Alexis nods. "They are great mom. It's been nice having a big family. I was wondering when I was on the Evergreen if I was going to be all alone forever."
"Well not anymore, and it's going to get even bigger soon." As Kate puts her hand on her tummy.
"You're amazing mom. I'm glad dad and I found you." Alexis confides.
"Actually I'm the lucky one. When you and your dad found me I was in a really bad place with no hope of ever getting out. You and your father saved me. I'll do anything I can for you and him, always.
Go get some sleep sweetie. Just remember tell us when she wants to come out here and your father and I will make all the arrangements. OK, actually Lucile will be making the arrangements, but you get the idea." Kate jokes.
"What do we do about Lucile when she comes out here?" Alexis is now a little worried.
"We'll just have to be careful is all. If that changes later down the road, then it does and we'll all deal with it then. Don't let it influence what you decide. I'm pretty sure even Lucile just wants you to be happy and healthy. But you can ask her."
"I'll see you in the morning. Oh, do you want to explain it to your father or do you want me to?"
"Can you start it? And I can answer any questions he has." Alexis is just a little chicken.
"Sure, I'll make sure he is calm when you two talk about it. Good night sweetie."
"Good night mom. And thanks."
Alexis was approaching the kitchen and finds her father already up and cooking breakfast. "Hi dad."
Rick does not turn around as he watches the bacon cooking. "Hi pumpkin. Breakfast?"
"Just some fruit and toast would be great, thanks."
"Coming right up." Rick leaves his bacon and gets the fruit out of the refrigerator. He drops bread in the toaster, places it all on the counter and picks up his tongs again ready to flip his bacon.
"Are you mad dad?" Alexis asks softly.
Rick turns to face his daughter. "Mad? Why yes, yes I am. Wait till you see what I injected your fruit with when you weren't looking. Bwahaaaaha (insert mad scientist laugh here)." Getting nothing from Alexis except one of Kate's glares. "You know it that was a lot more funny when you were younger."
"I'm sorry dad."
Rick drops his tongs and comes around the counter and wraps his arms around her. "I'll admit I was a little shocked at first when you mom told me last night. But she is right. If you are happy then we are happy. And if you two decide to get married, I'll be crying tears of joy when I walk you down the aisle again."
"Wait, do I walk you down the aisle or do I walk both of you down the aisle? Or is it you standing at the front while her dad walks her down the aisle? Okay now I'm confused. Whatever, I'll be just as happy either way. And so will everyone else in this family. The boys might be a little confused and your mom and I will have to have long talks with them. But I'm sure they will be happy too." Rick kisses her cheek.
"You have nothing to worry about. Now eat. I'm sure Amanda doesn't want her husband, … wife, …. To be nothing but skin and bones." And Rick goes back around the counter to check on his bacon, just a little confused now.
"Dad? Jumping the gun just a little here aren't you?" Alexis questions. But she's happy her dad is taking it well.
Rick turns back around. "Ooohhh, what kind of gun? An M60? An M134 Minigun? Oh, I know, how about a GAU-8/A Avenger 30 mm seven-barrel Gatling Gun." Rick stops when he sees the look Alexis is giving him. "You know you were a lot more fun when you were younger." Rick pouts.
"Don't worry dad you still have the boys with one more on the way." Alexis tries to appease him.
"Oh, you think Kate would want more after this one?" Rick asks all excited now.
"Only if you want to raise them all alone." Alexis teases. "I'm pretty sure mom wasn't expecting this one."
"Oh Kate would never do that. Would she?" Rick is now a little worried.
"What wouldn't I do?" Kate asks just now approaching the kitchen.
"Fill the house with another three girls." Rick lies.
"Oh there better be only one bun in this oven. Or you mister are in BIG trouble!" Kate threatens serious consequences.
Rick slinks back into the kitchen while Alexis just giggles.
"I don't know what you are laughing about missy. Just because you've taken an interest in girls instead of boys doesn't mean you can't still get pregnant." Kate threatens.
Alexis stuffs the rest of her fruit in her mouth, grabs her toast and with a full mouth. "Arend on that mote I'm outter here." And heads for her room to take a shower.
It turned out that neither Alexis or Amanda had any PTO to spend until Memorial Day which was not for another four months. Rick and Kate had however arranged for Amanda to fly out one day and fly back the next once a month until she had two consecutive days off work.
Amanda had put up a fuss about the cost but between Rick, Kate, and Alexis, she had finally agreed. Her first flight was in two week's time. After that Alexis would fly out to her once a month until the next time they both had PTO.
Then Lucile gave both of them the bad news. Michael had called up his brother Alan again and had asked for another satellite pass over their house. Only this time it was going to occur roughly when Amanda was anticipated to reach their house on her first visit.
They couldn't take the chance of having Amanda being dragged into this problem. "Lucile as soon as that satellite is in range, fire up the telescope and fry the damn thing," Rick told her with Kate standing next to him. "This is it Kate. If he doesn't stop we are going to have to relocate him and/or his brothers to their new homes. Naked as a jay bird." Rick was mad and had had enough.
"I know. I just wish we knew what this was all about. And our daughter is only just recovering from what Ray did to here. I'll not let him or them wreck it." Kate agrees and intends to protect her daughter.
"Have you seen Alexis the last couple of days? If we could bottle her and her energy we could light up half of New York." Rick chuckles.
Kate is giggling now. "I know she is going to burst soon. I hope this works out for her and is not just a fling. It'll devastate her." Kate sounds worried.
Rick wraps his arms around Kate and holds her tight. "So do I. But we'll be here to pick up the pieces and put her back together if this doesn't work out." Rick sounds sure even if he's not.
"I hope so. I really hope so." Kate talks into Rick's chest.
It's now two weeks later and Rick and Alexis are in the car headed for the airport to pick up Amanda. Alexis forever in motion and Rick is just grinning at how nervous his daughter is.
"Richard the satellite is now coming into range." Lucile tells him.
"Fry the damn thing Lucile and if Michael puts up a fuss you have my permission to fry him too," Rick tells her since he is mad about what has happened to his daughter and it's probably because of him.
"Powering up telescope, …. And firing." Lucile tells him and then tells Kate.
Rick and Alexis are at the private plane terminal, waiting for Amanda to get off the plane.
"Richard, Alan and his other brother in NSA have found out that the satellite they are borrowing from the military has gone silent. They are both in a remote office space discussing how to cover their ass by blaming you and Kate for its loss." Lucile tells him.
"Damn it couldn't they wait. Kate is probably teaching a class right now. Jim, Natalie are you two busy?" Rick calls out.
"We are just getting ready to head out for lunch. What's up?" Natalie replies.
"Kate is busy with a class, can you two help me pick up Alan and his brother at NSA and drop them someplace nice and remote?" Rick asks as a favor.
"I think that can be arranged. We'll meet you at the house." Natalie tells him. She and Jim are gone a few seconds later.
"I'm sorry pumpkin but I've gotta go. We can't have Amanda getting sucked into this mess. Here are the keys to the car. I'll meet you two at the house. I really am sorry." Rick does his best.
"It's okay dad. We can get home on our own." Alexis doesn't sound happy but she does understand.
Rick finds a secluded spot and opens a Transmat wall for home. "Jim, Natalie, thanks for this. I owe you two."
"We're family, we're glad to help." Jim tells him and Natalie nods her head in agreement.
"Lucile?"
"They are both still in the enclosed office." Lucile tells them.
"Okay we step out of the door, stun them first thing then turn around and leave. We can break their bones later." Rick offers.
"I look forward to it." Jim states with an evil grin.
Rick opens a Transmat wall and steps out to see two men standing close together plotting how to cover their asses. Rick quickly shoots both of them and is followed by Jim and Natalie.
Jim lifts up one of them and Rick and Natalie share the other one. They are gone in a flash after Rick opens another Transmat wall. They strip them naked; Natalie is not impressed and says so.
Rick thanks them for the help, watches them go back to the base and head out for their delayed lunch. Rick heads home to wait for Alexis and Amanda to arrive from the airport. He's nervous as hell.
