Accidentally in Love, a recess fanfic

Spinelli, now 25 years old, stood in the crowd as she waited for her friends' band to go on. High school had made for new beginnings of new talents and the friends had decided to collaborate. They had all been surprised when Spinelli wouldn't join the band, but she still attended every performance to support her friends. When the stage lights came on, everyone had been in their usual spot: TJ on guitar, Gus on bass, Vince on drums and Gretchen at the lead mic. Tonight when they reached the final song, Spinelli was in for a bit of a surprise when TJ stepped up to the lead mic, and Gretchen stepped back to TJ's backup mic. "Tonight, we're mixing it up a bit for a special occasion. Give it up for our lead singer Gretchen Grundler, she did great tonight. This next song goes out to a very special someone here tonight, who really needs to hear what I've got to say." Mikey played the pickup measure before TJ started the guitar riff. At first, Spinelli wasn't realizing that he was talking about her, just that he was talking about a girl.

So she said "What's the problem, Baby?"

Now she was beginning to catch on. Spinelli sometimes wore strawberry perfume when she knew she would see TJ which was a lot. She began moving towards the front of the stage, where TJ was.

Spinelli had reached the front of the crowd and TJ had given her a "Come here" nod. She climbed up onto the stage.

TJ signaled for the others to just keep playing through the changes, and turned to Spinelli. "Ladies and gentlemen, this is the special someone I was talking about. Now if she can answer a really important question for me." He took the mic from the stand and knelt before her. "Ashley Funicello Spinelli, would you marry me?"

She looked down at TJ, out across the crowd and back at him, taking the mic. "Theodore Jasper Detweiler, I must say yes," she laughed placing the mic back on the stand and the crowd cheered approval.
