Rulers of the Night Chapter Twelve
Wowza…I am so sorry for THAT long wait…I have been so busy. I am really trying but it gets tiring, you know? Oh well, no matter, let's get to the story! :D
Leans Flair and Luna ran to the sound of the cries. Luna knew it had to be her sister. Luna ran as fast as her hooves could go. She almost tripped a few times, she was going so fast. She didn't care. She had to make sure her sister was alright.
When they finally got to the spot where the sound was heard the loudest, they looked around. They could still hear her cries but they had no idea where she was. It sounded like they were right on top of her.
Suddenly, a drip of green liquid dripped on Luna's crown. She looked up to see one of the Changeling's molds. She also saw that her sister was wrapped in it!
Luna flew up there, followed by Leans Flair and they chipped away at the disgusting, green mold that covered Princess Celestia.
After a few hours of chipping away at the green goop, they finally got to where Princess Celestia could get out of the mold. She was so weak she started to fall but Leans Flair, being a gentlecolt, caught her before even Luna did. He carried her to the ground and Luna followed.
"Oh dear sister, thank you for saving me. Oh, and you too…"
"Leans Flair."
"Ah, yes. Thank you both for saving me. I really didn't expect Queen Chrysalis to ever come back," Princess Celestia explained.
"You did not get a vision?" Princess Luna asked.
"No…that is the strangest part to me. I usually get visions when danger is soon to come. I don't understand why I wouldn't this time," she said, dumbfounded.
"Do you think Queen Chrysalis had something to do with it?" Leans Flair asked.
"I don't know…I wouldn't think so. She has much power, but it is not in her power to change dreams and visions of ponies. I think it was my power failing. I think my power is getting weaker and weaker. I may be immortal, but there comes a time in even an immortal creature's life where we get weak and frail. I may not be able to rule any longer if I cannot see danger and defend myself in times of crisis. How will I protect my subjects? Luna…I think I need to tell you something I should have told you long ago," Princess Celestia said.
"What is it, sister?" Luna asked, worriedly.
"I always knew this time would come. I have to…go to sleep."
Luna gasped and tears started to flow out of her eyes. She put her hoof to her mouth. Leans Flair went over to her and hugged her.
"I…I thought you and I were immortal. You can't die! It's not possible!" Luna exclaimed.
"No…Luna…I have to do a sort of hibernation thing. It is hard to explain but when a pony of my power lives for this long, she has to sleep for a long while to gain more power. It's not all that complicated. I'll only have to sleep for a few weeks. However…" Celestia bit her lip and looked down.
"What sister?" Luna asked.
You will have to take over for me when I have to do this. It will not be a one-time thing either; you will have to do this more than once. You will have to do this hibernation thing as well. However, I believe that if Cadence or you have children, they can take over for you. Cadence does not have enough power to raise the sun and moon though," Celestia explained.
Luna looked at her sister in deep thought.
She would be the one who would raise both the sun and moon each night and day. It would be Luna to look over her subjects in all times of the day and rule over Equestria.
Luna frowned in thought for a moment but then smiled a determined smile.
"I will do my best to make you proud sister. Now, why don't you tell me my responsibilities on our way back home and then you can start resting," Luna said with a warm smile to her sister.
Leans Flair stood there smiling at his true love. He was so proud of her. She would be ruling a kingdom. However, this meant if he wanted to ask her the question he had been dying to ask her for some time now, he would have to wait a while.
Luna and Celestia chatted by the castle fire as Leans Flair napped on the chair. He was very tired from today's events and was so tired he passed out right when they got to the castle. Luna thought it was very cute and decided to let him sleep.
"You will have to raise the moon, as well as the sun, sister. It is a difficult thing to do but
I have faith in you, Luna. You have so much power, little sister. Before I go to sleep though, I will definitely help you with training to do both. Also, you will have to look over all the subjects and I will warn you that you won't get that much sleep. I hope you are okay with all of this…"
"I am, dear sister. It is my royal duty to rule over Equestria in your absence so I will do my very best. I just want you to feel well again," Luna said with compassion.
"Thank you, Luna. You mean the world to me, you know."
"As do you to me, however I was meaning to ask you something," Luna said nervously.
"You want to know what I think of your stallion friend, correct?" Celestia asked with a smirk on her face.
Luna bit her lip and looked up at her sister with doe eyes and nodded.
"I think he is absolutely wonderful. He is polite and obviously really cares about you to go to such great lengths to make you happy and help you save me. It seems like he would do anything for you. I like him. Also, he is quite handsome," Celestia said with a wink and a chuckle.
Luna blushed and smiled. Luna knew Leans Flair was quite handsome. However, many stallions had that quality. It was something else that made her love him. That was his generosity, sweetness, caring nature and ability to always make her laugh. These things made Luna blush every time she thought about him. She knew that she loved him more than any pony except maybe her sister and she hoped that one day, they would be married and could rule over Equestria…together.
