Tim sighed as he heard some crockery smashed in the kitchen. Barbara had been at the flat for just a couple of hours and had already managed to break two plates. Geoffrey rolled his eyes.
"In seven weeks I am supposed to be walking your sister down the aisle. Whatever I think of Lee."
"Dad."
"No Tim. Whatever I've thought of him in the past Lucy loves him. He may well be a layabout, a scally of the worst order but he hasn't left that girl's side." Geoffrey sighed. "I would like to have a flat suitable for them both to live in!"
"Barbara means well."
"Meaning well and doing well are different things." Geoffrey pulled a face as Barbara appeared in the doorway.
"Lee's football mug?"
"He'll never notice." Tim smiled as Barbara turned back to the kitchen. "I'll just help her." Tim glanced at his father before heading back to the kitchen.

Lucy slumped in the wheelchair as Lee took her back to the ward. She was exhausted, fed up and feeling utterly defeated. Lee knew she had pushed herself too much, that she was frustrated with herself. He pushed the wheelchair into the cubicle she was occupying.
"The physio is happy with you." Lee smiled.
"Yeah." Lucy sniffed.
"You're doing really well." He crouched next to her as she bit her lip.
"Yeah." Lucy wiped her eye.
"Hey." Lee took her hand. "Hey, why are you crying? You're doing so well."
"We should be married by now." Lucy sighed. "At home, together."
"And we will be. Wendy rebooked everything."
"Lee." She covered her face with her hands as she sobbed. He pulled her into his arms, hating seeing her cry. He kissed her hair, holding her tightly until her breathing settled.
He had no idea why she was crying. She was improving as the days went by. She hated being dependant on anyone.
"Hey. Cmon Luce. You're scaring me."
"Sorry."
"What's wrong?"
"I just want my life back."
"It's getting there. Everyday."
"I'm just tired."
"I'll let you sleep." He kissed her gently. "Get some rest, eh?"
"Every Time i close my eyes." She paused. "I'm back there. I can hear myself screaming, pushing the brakes. I." Lee hugged her again. This time screwing his own eyes shut. He hadn't considered the fact she was having nightmares. It hadn't occurred to him. "What if I can't walk again? Properly?"
"Then we deal with it." He rested his head on top of hers as he spoke. "We will."
"What if I can't have kids? If?"
"Whoa." He pulled her away from him so he could look her in the eye. "Listen to me, Lucy Adams." She sniffed. "I love you. When you were first brought in after the accident I was told you could die, then you could be brain damaged, paralysed, bleeding inside. You beat all that. So what if you never run the marathon? Neither will I." She smiled slightly, her eyes still watery. "And as for babies isn't looking after Tim hard enough? It's not the end of the world."
"You never wanted to be a dad."
"You've met Frank, not the greatest role model. But, I've never been with anyone Id want to have children with. Until now." He kissed her as she pulled him closer.
"Marry me."
"I've already said yes." Lucy laughed. Lee shrugged.
"Just checking." He smiled back. Lucy touched his face as he spoke.
"I love you two."
