Hi, sorry for the wait, I was really busy. However this chapter is twice as long as it usually is. This one is a bit scattered and has a lot of mistakes, but I really wanted to get this up. So hope you enjoy, and please review.
Disclaimer: I don't own OUAT
After the initial shock, Belle walks silently in to the bedroom. She already has a bag out on the bed, and clothes folded ready to be placed in it, when Rumple walks in.
"What are you doing?" he questions as he stands by the end of the bed. She doesn't answer and walks to the dresser. Pulling out a draw, she takes more clothes and walks back over to the bed. Belle neatly places the pile in the bag.
"Belle?" She finally looks over at him.
"I'm packing."
"Why?"
"Why?" she repeats outraged. Her eyes widen. "Because my baby is going to die if we don't get back to Storybrooke!"
"Belle is our baby, I'm worried too. But how do you suggest we get back!? Do you have some powerful, magic in this world that can break the spell," he said sarcastically.
"No! But I'm not just going to stay here."
"I'm not suggesting that either. But we need a plan. We have a few months to figure this out." Belle looked away, and grimaced. She looked back up, her eyes wide with uncharacteristic fear.
"We don't have a few months."
"What are you talking about?" he asks scared of the answer. Belle places a hand over her stomach. She is about to answer, her mouth open, when she doubles over in pain.
"Rumple!" she cries out.
"Belle." He guides her on the bed and forces her to lay down. "Why didn't you tell me the pain was getting worse?" he asks angrily.
"I thought it would go away. I didn't want to ruin our date." She manages to get out, with labored breaths. He shakes his head frustrated. He stays silent, thinking. His mind races thinking of way to save her and their baby. Suddenly an idea pops in his head, but what would be the price. He interrupted when Belle's phone rings loudly.
Archie fumbled with the phone in his hands. His nerves and excitement were making it hard for him to press the buttons on the phone.
"Oh, give it to me," Ruby cried as she took the phone in her hands. She quickly pressed the buttons. She waits for Belle to answer.
"Hello?" a voice that was certainly not Belle's answered. However the voice was no less recognizable.
"Gold." Ruby said, some spite in her voice. "So she found you?"
"Indeed she did."
"I need to talk to Belle."
"Why?"
"None of your business." She snaps.
"Rumple who is it?" Belle asks, and Ruby can her over the phone in the background. She hears Rumple sigh.
"It's Ruby."
"Oh!" she say excitedly. Rumple holds out her phone and she takes it.
"Guess what Ruby? I found him!"
"Yeah I know," Ruby says dryly.
"What is it Ruby? This is what I came here for."
"No, I know," Ruby quickly says. "And I'm happy for you, but what about everything he done?" If it was anyone else Belle who have given a stern reply, but she knew her friend wasn't condemning her, or anything. She just wanted the best for her. Ruby cared for her, unlike the numerous amount of people who only thought to judge her.
"Ruby he's lost so much, had so much time to reteach to the darkness, to become a villain, what he needs is to be given a chance. Not fake or forced one either. People really need to accept that he can change if they would just give him a chance. I believe that he can." Their silence over the phone. Ruby didn't speak up for a moment. She understood what is was like to feel like a monster, to have crowds calling for your name. She remember receding into herself, wondering if they were right. She also remembered how much it helped when people believed in her. Granny, David, Snow and Belle believed in her.
"I'm willing to give him another chance, just have fun convincing the rest of the town." Belle feared this the most. She didn't care what everyone would think back home, in Storybrooke. However she would hate the effect that everyone's glares, and hate would have on her love.
"Speaking of the town; were coming back. We just don't know how. The baby Ruby is dying in this unmagical world. We need to come to Storybrooke."
"Belle!" Ruby cried happily. "I think Archie and I found a way!"
"Hold on let me put you on speaker," Belle told them while waving Rumple over to listen to the conversation.
"After we found out about the baby, we thought we could find a way to bring you and the baby back over the line. We searched everywhere and we think we found a book containing a powerful potion. We also looked at Gold's potion book. The potion we found looks very similar to the one he used to cross the town line to find Neal. This could work."
"Yes it could." Rumple said quickly, too quickly. Belle looked over at him suspiciously.
"It's going to take a while to make. How long before you guys come back?"
"Uh…," Belle starts. "Tonight."
"Tonight?"
"Yes, I'm afraid that's all the time we have."
"Belle I don't think Archie and I could make a potion that fast. I don't even nowhere to start."
"There's a potion in my basement, it's the same thing I used to retain my memories." Belle gave him a questioning look. She remembered him telling her he only enough for one person.
"I made it after I came back," he told her. "Just in case." Belle didn't ask 'in case what?', but she did speak up.
"How does that help?"
"Well like most potions I'm guessing there's has two parts. She said the two potion were similar she may be able to bypass the first part and use the memory potion, just adding to it." Belle looked at him happily squeezing his hand. The two couple talked and went over the details. Before long Rumple and Belle made their way to where his Rumple's old Cadillac was being stored. Belle had had it flown over and placed in a garage.
Rumple helped Belle into the car, and then walked over to the driver's side and climbed in. As Rumple drive he thought about what he was doing, what he had already done. He knew that potion wouldn't work. It was just a way to get Belle back. A chance to save his baby. The potion wouldn't work, but maybe the baby's power would. It was better this way. They would all hate her for bringing him back. Not to mention how much they would hate him. He did want to be a better man, a man that
Bae would be proud of. A father that her child could look up to. However he wouldn't get the chance, Belle and the baby would go back, and he would stay out in the world. This apparently was the price. As magic always had a price.
They were mostly silent as they drove. However they both stole glances at each other. It was very dark by the time they reached Storybrooke. As they drove up to where the line should be they called Ruby.
"Ok I'm going to try it," Ruby said over the phone. She could see them, but they couldn't see her and Archie standing a few feet in front of Archie's parked car. They all held their breath as Ruby uncorked the vial and started letting it drip out. The glowing blue liquid hit the pavement. Belle took Rumple's and held on tight as they stared waiting for the boundary to be broken. They waited for what felt like hours for something to happen. Then something did. A simmer light came front the line and a once they could both see each other. Belle gasped at seeing Ruby from the other side of the line. Rumple stepped forward inspecting the boundary spell. His eyes squinted. His mind reached. That shouldn't have worked. On further inspection he realized it didn't work. The border was still was intact. The glowing potion dissipated, in vain.
"It didn't work," Rumple said.
"What's going to happen to the baby?" Belle cried, worried that the little one in her stomach would die out in un-magical world.
"Sweetheart, please," he said walking over to her, trying to calm her down. "Please, just try to walk over. I think that with the baby you might be able to walk through the border. The baby its powerful." Her eyes widened.
"Because it made from dark and light magic?" Rumple nodded.
She shakily walked reaching a tentative hand towards the town line. Her hand slid through the boundary not stopping her. This gave her courage to walk into the border, until she had most of her body inside the line.
"Belle its working!" Ruby excitedly yelled, while Rumple stood silent. Belle smiled towards Ruby and Archie. Her head whipped back towards her husband. Her reaming hand on his side of the line outstretched towards him.
"Rumple take my hand. I can pull you over. Take it." she called to him. "Please Rumple!" her husband stood frozen.
"Belle," Rumple said, "I can't."
"Why not? Don't you see this will work, we can go home." She said with a delighted smile.
"Belle you can, but I can't. I don't belong there anymore. The Charmings, hook and Regina will have my head. Belle just go, I love you, but you're better off without me." she walks back over the line, leaving Storybrooke. Once back on his side she took his hand. "Belle, sweetheart, go back. The baby needs you to cross the line." He watched as she took a step away from Storybrooke, closer to him.
"And I need you to cross with me. We will do this together as a couple, we will face whatever we have to Rumple, and I'm not sending you away again."
"You're not." He told her.
"Then I'll come back after the baby's born." He gave her a sad sigh.
"Once you go back into Storybrooke, Belle, you can't leave again."
"Rumple," she said desperately, tear streaming down her face. "I need you. I love you." She said it with all the love she felt for him.
"And I love you. It's ok Belle. You'll be better off without me.
"No! I won't be!" she yelled her voice full of passion. "Please Rumple," she tried desperately. Her voice was strangled, but it want only because of her pleading. In the next moments she collapses. Her name is yelled into the air by quite a few voices. However she hears none of them. Complete control of Belle's body left her. She stumbles to the pavement. Rumple catches her head before it can hit the ground. He cradles her body awkwardly as it lays limp in his arms.
He goes into shock. He heart stops and the tears hit her face. He can't hear anything. In a split second decision he gathers all the strength he has and picks her up in his arms. He ignores the pain in his leg, and with an incredible amount of willpower he walks to the line. He doesn't care anymore if the border wants to reject him. He will cross. He will save his wife, his love. Ruby and Achier watch aghast as his foot crosses the line. The border spell not daring to deny him. His whole body goes through, his Belle laying limply in his arms. He feels Storybrooke envelop him. He's back. His ankle strengths. Ruby and Archie rush to help him. They lay Belle on the ground her head on Rumple as he also sits. Archie takes her pulse. Everyone is silent. Even her heart. As the moment passes Rumple cries out her name. Ruby is off to the side, in Archie's arms crying. Rumple leans down, pushing her hair out of her face. He desperately kisses her lips. Unfortunately she isn't cursed.
"Belle," his voice barely cries. "No please, no." he kisses her forehead, then her jaw, and then her eyelids. He cradles her head laying his forehead against hers. His tears fall on her lips. He kisses them once more, tasty his salty tears. It was done, it was over. What else did he have to live for.
The end.
