CHAPTER THREE – history
Frau grumbled as he walked to the library, he knew she wouldn't tell him what he wanted to know. She was stubborn and clearly held a grudge against him, for what, he would never really know for now.
Taking her advice he went along looking for all the books he could find on angels and fallen angels and sat down in a corner as he started paging through them.
'Guardian Angels of the seven ghosts' – Frau eyed the book carefully and ignored the rest picking it up and started paging through it. 'I have never seen this book here before I wonder if Castor knows about this book?' Frau thought to himself.
'Each of the seven ghosts has a guardian angel; these angels are usually seven archangels which govern over the ghosts from heaven. They are known as the Seven Guardian Angels of the Seven Ghosts. These angels only watch over their ghosts to ensure that their ability is not used for evil and is used to protect the church and the people there. In the list below it is stated which ghost is governed by which angel.
Fest – Archangel Mina
Zehel – Archangel Serenity
Profe – Archangel Genma
…
Getting bored he skipped all the rest until another paragraph caught his attention.
'The only time one of these angels fall is when they start to develop emotions for the ghost they are watching over.'
Frau looked at the page, his eyebrow raising as he eyed the sentence. "I broke a rule… that forbids certain things." Her words echoed through his mind causing him to smirk.
"So that's why she hates me so much." He mumbled as he stood up and left the library.
Being the man that he was he stalked around the church boredly before retiring to his room for the night. He knew she most probably didn't think he would actually go into the library to read since the only things he really looked at were his perverted books, but he would surprise her when he felt the time was right.
…
Serenity rolled over in her bed before she completely fell out of it. With a deep groan of displeasure she sat up on the hard floor and rubbed her head trying to soothe the spot that had hit the floor. Standing up she started her day as she always had by taking a shower and then she eyed her clothing before pulling on a blouse with an under bust corset. She pulled on a pair of black pants and knee length brown boots. She brushed out her hair and left her room still rubbing the tender spot on her head as her boots clicked along the marble corridors relentlessly.
The sisters approached her with smiles on their faces as always greeting her.
"Ella, Bishop Castor would like to see you this morning." Sister Rosalie smiled warmly as Serenity simply nodded.
With that said she walked around looking for the bishop until she spotted him sitting in the garden with bishop Labrador, chatting quietly over what seemed to look like tea. Biting the inside of her cheek she approached them nodding when they both acknowledged her. She felt relieved that Frau wasn't around, he was as always the last person she really wanted to be near.
"Good morning." She half grumbled still rubbing the side of her head.
"Good morning Serenity, what happened to your head?" Castor smiled genuinely.
She froze on the spot half glaring at the bishop. "How… oh wait that would be a rather stupid question. You had a doll spying for you yesterday." She muttered angrily.
Labrador looked over at Castor before taking her hand and pulling out a chair for her. "Please do join us." He spoke calmly. "We are well aware of what you are Serenity, but why hide it? We found books in the library that Frau had read last night and it peaked our interest in you." He spoke calmly as he took his seat and looked at her.
"I didn't think he would actually read I was been sarcastic when I told him to go to the library that moron." She grumbled. "As for my head, I fell off my bed this morning and bumped it on the floor it's nothing serious to write home about." She grumbled as her mood slowly soured as she tried to change the subject inconspicuously.
"Why did you never tell us what you are?" Castor asked as he took a sip of his tea.
Serenity glanced at him, a look of frustration crossing her features instantly. "I didn't think it would matter."
Both men looked at her before Castor spoke again. "When you fell it was so that you could be with him wasn't it?"
They watched as her eyes grew wider at the statement, her cheeks flushing instantly. "N-No I-I don't know w-what you're talking about." She stammered.
"There is no need to hide the truth from us Serenity. We will keep anything you tell us confidential." Labrador calmed her down handing her a cup of sweet tea.
They watched as her shoulders heaved with a sigh. "The exile was meant to be a punishment for me, for disobeying and breaking the rules. As Archangels well as a matter of fact any angel it's just one of those forbidden things. The ghosts may serve a good purpose but their form is what forbids us from it. My wings used to be white, but I was treated like the emotions had tainted me. AAARRRGH! Why on earth did it just HAVE to be him!" she groaned like a teenage girl.
"So you kept your wings?" Castor spoke again.
"Well that's pretty obvious, but my main concern was how to get back and it seems that's not going to happen anytime soon and I can't stand this human form, it is uncomfortable I want to help you ghosts." She muttered out in a low tone, unsure if they would consider it.
"So your intentions when you fell weren't bad?" Labrador interjected.
"No they weren't, it was just that I got far too emotionally attached to Frau and with the cruel nature of humans it is seen as a punishment because, well it is very often that the angels find themselves been rejected by the soul they guard over. We are exiled because the emotions can lead to ideas of sinful behavior which is not allowed." She sighed still rubbing her head.
"So the little Fallen Angel has a crush on me?" An unmistakable voice pitched in from behind her.
Serenity felt her blood freeze as she stared in horror at Labrador and Castor. She couldn't bring herself to face Frau knowing that he knew about her situation, knowing the insufferable man had heard what they had been discussing. She sat rigid in the chair as the bishop moved closer to the table and joined them. She instantly dropped her gaze into the cup irking at the sight of him. His smirk on his face as he watched her half wither under his gaze, her cheeks sporting a bright red blush.
"Well considering the circumstances under which she was exiled, I'd believe it to be much more than just a little crush Frau." Labrador stated calmly watching as Serenity half curled into herself, the tint on her cheeks deepening.
"Bishop Labrador, that is embarrassing. I really feel he doesn't deserve to know that." She choked out hardly lifting her gaze.
Castor smiled down at the small angel and chuckled softly. Frau sat watching her with a smug look on his face well aware that their discussion had been over heard by some of the sisters. It was only made clearer when all of them approached the group looking expectantly at the small woman who sat with them.
Sister Rosalie was the first to speak. "It is a blessing that you have come here to our church Serenity, if you are here to help the ghosts protect us then you shall forever have a place you can call home. Do not be ashamed of your real appearance." She smiled warmly as the other sisters agreed with her.
Serenity turned around in her seat, looking over all the sisters and smiled a small smile. She knew they were watching her as she rose from the spot and took a deep breath to calm her nerves. "I shall not hide what I am then if I am truly welcome." She said in a low voice and watched as they stared at her as she took her true form before them.
The warm smiles she received made her heart melt and with that she was determined to protect her new home and her love with everything she had. She glanced at Frau and instantly looked down, the blush taking its place on her cheeks when she found him watching her. Yet after how she had seen her other brothers and sisters been treated, she was grateful that she was accepted and not shunned. Part of her was grateful that Frau didn't look down on her form with disgust. To be really honest however, his expression his eyes held when he looked at her was unreadable.
Castor smiled as she approached them with her head down her long silky hair flowing in the light breeze. "Welcome home little lamb." He smiled as he turned her to face her new family.
She watched as they smiled then returned to their chores. Castor smiled again as she sat down with them though she still did not dare to look at the Bishop who watched her. "It seems we will have to design a special uniform just for you to accommodate your wings, will you be assuming your human form again anytime soon?" the bishop asked.
"Not anytime soon, it feels good to have my wings out, though if I do leave the church during the day I will assume my human form. Other than that I will be as I am now if I leave at night." She answered softly.
She glanced at Frau, looking at Castor and Labrador biting her lip before she left them in silence.
