"I can't recall you ever being this intent on ignoring me." Sebastian whispered from his makeshift bed as Ciel slept. Lucile stayed quiet and continued to stare out towards the fire coming from the gypsy camp. He clenched his jaw in annoyance; when she'd come back to them eventually, she hadn't said a word about finding the boy or the 'monster'. She hadn't said anything. What had she found that was so traumatic she didn't want to talk about it? Lucile's shoulders moved up and down as she sighed softly.
"Lucile, you haven't said a word since you came back. Ciel is worried about you." he continued trying to get something out of her, "Just say something?"
"Lash..." Lucile whispered softly catching him off guard. Sebastian frowned unsure of what 'lash' meant. He was about to question her when a new musky and very male scent filled his nostrils. Slowly, Sebastian moved to the window and glowered down at the grey male wolf from the night before. Once again his lip curled into a snarl; Sebastian smirked and, just to test whether the wolf was after Lucile, rested his gloved hand on the back of her neck. Sure enough the grey wolf lurched forward and went rigid. So he was here for Lucile, and that also meant he was a Lycanthrope like her since wolves would only show interest in her if she was in her other form.
"Sebastian..." Lucile said as her hand enclosed around his, he thought she would reject his touch as she always did. However he was mistaken. Lucile tugged at his hand gently, asking him to move behind her, although he wanted to question her, he moved.
"Please," her voice sounded distant and sad as she begged, "just for tonight can you not be a demon?"
"What would you have me be?" he purred as he brought his free hand to her shoulder and rested it there.
"Someone I could trust." Her words wounded him more than he thought possible. He knew that their relationship was more of a love-hate manner, but he believed there was at least some kind of mutual trust between them. Nevertheless he smiled,
"So you do know him." he stated. Lucile nodded once and turned, her back facing the male wolf still in the field below.
"I met him today. I followed the tracks to a meadow, but the sadness was so thick there...I couldn't breathe. This woman found me and led me back to the gypsies. They're like me, Sebastian. I've never met anyone like me before...Do you know how that feels, to think that you're the only one and then suddenly come face to face with more?" she said, her eyes watering in the darkness. Sebastian knew but he'd dare not say for fear more secrets would come into light. So instead he did the only thing she knew he wouldn't do - he pulled her against his chest and held her there in a strong embrace. Lucile stiffened but gradually relaxed into him and even went so far as to wrap her own arms around him but despite his wanting to touch her, Lucile pushed out of his grasp once more.
"I'm sorry." she whispered before stepping around him and heading for the door. She stopped as her fingers brushed the handle,
"You understand, right?" she asked him. She was leaving. Lucile was leaving the Phantomhive house, Ciel, Bard, her friends...she was leaving him. He could stop her if he wanted to, hold her down physically, but then she really would hate him. It was okay if she didn't want him or, dare he say love him, but to truly make her hate him...could he do it?
"Yes." he replied. Lucile gave him a sad smile and left soundlessly. He didn't turn around, he didn't want her to know he would miss her but, with firm resolve he decided he would make her hate him.
Lucile didn't look back at the Inn for fear she would run right back as soon as she saw Sebastian's face. She didn't want to leave them right when they needed her, but she had to find out about her past. If what Delphine had told her was true, that her clan had been brutally murdered, she had to find out by who. Lash was waiting for her in the field, his tail wagging happily as she joined him.
"Is this really the right thing to do?" she asked him. Lash sniffed her hand affectionately, trying to console her. Of course in his mind it was right, she needed to be with him and Delphine, her kind. But her heart ached at leaving Ciel and her little quaint family. Taking a deep breath she followed Lash into the woods and toward her new home.
When they arrived back at the camp something was wrong. Lucile slowed, ready to react should something occur, her eyes darting everywhere searching for a sign of movement.
"What's wrong?" Lash asked suddenly. Lucile shook her head and looked up at him,
"Nothing - Christ!" she said quickly covering her eyes. Lash stood before her completely naked, the golden rust glow from the slowly dying fire turning his lightly tanned skin to a caramel. His deep laughter echoed around them in the silence as he took her hands away from her face,
"Why are you getting embarrassed? It's just skin." he said with a playful gleam in his eye.
"That's easy for you to say." Lucile muttered. Lash grinned wider and took her hand, leading her away from the dying fire. Lucile felt more feminine than when she'd stripped in front of Sebastian for the first time. She had been embarrassed then, but seeing a fully naked man for the first time was something else entirely.
"I know we've grown up differently, Lucile, but this will be something you'll have to get used to." Lash said letting go of her hand and standing before her. Lucile looked away from him again but he took hold of her hand and made her look at him.
"Look at me. I have no secrets, and I am not ashamed to be in my skin." he said stepped back to give her a full view. Lucile gulped, her eyes darting everywhere else but the man before her. Lash sighed heavily,
"Lucile, look watch my hands, okay? I know this is new for you, but you have to realize that this is normal. It's why our clothes get destroyed when we change." he said as he moved his hands down his arms and over his chest slowly, Lucile watching his fluid movements, "We may look human but our differences are more than just being able to change into wolves. We're free, and clothes are just cages." Lash's hands slid slowly down his finely muscled stomach, glided over his hips and stopped on his thighs.
"See, there's nothing to be embarrassed over." he said softly, his voice becoming husky. Lucile blinked once and looked back up to his face, her cheeks still felt burning hot as she found his gaze smouldering. Slowly Lash began walking back towards her,
"Change." he gently ordered, "Let's go running. I'll show you what it's like to really be free." His strong hands reached for her coat and slid it easily off her shoulders. With steady hands he unbuttoned her shirt. Still holding his gaze she stepped out of her boots and socks, the grass was soft beneath her bare feet. Lash moved behind her to unlace her corset as she undid her breeches. His strong hands slid feather-like over the smooth, exposed skin of her back up to her shoulder blades and stopped at her neck. Sweeping her hair to the other side he traced her Seal.
"This is proof of who you are, you shouldn't hide it." he said. When she was completely naked, she and Lash both changed into wolves. He looked completely different through her wolf eyes. He was strong and wild, a born Alpha. He turned to her, his tail completely lowered and chuffed. It was a soft, under the breath, affectionate bark. Lucile's tail wagged slightly but she was still unsure on whether this was the right course of action to take. She would be leaving everything she'd ever known to be with people she knew nothing about, only that they were Lycan. Still she followed Lash as he ran further into the forest and soon she forgot about everything except the ground beneath her paws and the wind through her fur.
When she awoke the next day she found her self in a small hollow of a tree. Lash was nowhere to be seen but she could still smell his scent. She crawled out of the tree and changed into her human form. The tree was situated atop a small hill with a river running below it. Since there was no one around, it was the perfect time for a bath. The water was near freezing but it felt wonderful. As she floated in the water she thought about the joy she'd felt running last night. She hadn't worried about anything. Was that what being free was? However her peaceful bath didn't last as long as she'd hoped. She heard growling in the near distance and the scent of someone she knew well. Quickly getting out of the water, she began running to where the commotion was. Lash was crouched with an ambivalence expression, snarling at Sebastian. Sebastian's gaze was on the male wolf before him as he slowly began to remove his gloves.
"Stop!" Lucile cried as she ran over to the two men. Sebastian's crimson eyes flicked to her for a moment before shifting back to Lash who stayed in the same position.
"What are you doing here?" She demanded of the demon. Sebastian narrowed his eyes,
"Bringing you back." he replied easily although there was anger and malice in his voice.
"I'm not going-" Lucile began to argue but Sebastian stopped her, "Ciel ordered it. I don't care if I have to kill this mutt and drag you back kicking and screaming. You're coming with me."
Ciel...ordered it? She didn't really understand a lot about the contract Sebastian held with Ciel but she knew that if Ciel ordered Sebastian to do something, it always got done. Lucile considered her options. She could stand defiant and demand to stay resulting in Sebastian killing Lash and taking her with him anyway. Or she could give into the desire to run back she'd been trying to forget.
"Lucile..." Lash had returned to his human form and now stood between her and Sebastian, "Stay with us...be free." She turned her golden eyes on him. His hair fell around his shoulders like a coat and fully exposed his handsome face, his green eyes were begging her to stay. She couldn't look at him anymore. Instead, she closed her eyes and stepped towards Sebastian. She felt his ungloved hand encase her own as he pulled her behind him.
"I hope you're happy, Demon. You're taking away from her family!" Lash accused him as Sebastian led Lucile away.
"No, I'm taking her back to it." he replied. As they walked Lucile stayed quiet, silently fuming. She was angry at Ciel for ordering Sebastian to come retrieve her but she was furious at herself for feeling relieved that he came to get her. Was she really that attached to that wretched man?
Soft fabric dropped onto her shoulders and she suddenly remembered she had been naked. Normally she would have been turning beet red at the thought, but not today. Today she didn't care if the whole world saw her naked.
"You're angry with me." Sebastian stated as she pulled the jacket around her tighter, enveloping herself into his scent. She hated and loved it at the same time.
"No." she replied honestly, "I'm angry at myself for allowing you to manipulate me so easily." They reached the Inn just before the sun was fully in the sky. Ciel was standing by the window in his night gown looking down at the paddock below, but looked up as the heavy wooden door groaned open. Lucile stood in the door way, Sebastian's coat around her small frame, and the butler himself standing behind her. Even in the window's reflection, she looked numb. Ciel had never seen her look so empty before. He was used to the pig headed and angry Lucile. Since she was naked, he could easily assume she had been in her wolf form and her disappearance most likely had something to do with that wolf from the other night.
"Are you alright, Lucile?" he asked staring at her reflection with his one blue eye. Lucile nodded once, "When Sebastian told me you had gone, I was saddened. Saddened that you left in the night without saying goodbye." Lucile looked up in surprise at the young boy.
"Excuse me?" she asked unsure of what he was saying. Ciel turned from the window, a very serious look on his young face,
"If you wanted to leave, I would never stop you. You are the one person I could never force to do something you didn't want to do. I think of you as my closest friend, Lucile." he said, "You were the one thing that has stayed a constant in my life." Lucile lowered her head so no one could see the tears that were starting to form in her eyes. She loved Ciel Phantomhive like her own brother and his words were like a dagger through her heart. She was a coward to run from him in the middle of the night.
"However," Ciel said making her stiffen, "Although I was upset at her leaving, that didn't mean I wanted you to go and get her, Sebastian." Rage coursed through Lucile's veins. Sebastian had lied to her. She could put up with the teasing, the derogatory name calling and the mind games; it was in his nature to do that. But he had never once lied to her until now and it made Lucile furious. Behind her, Sebastian cleared his throat and stepped forward.
"I felt that it was wise for Miss Lucile to finish the task she as assigned to do before sneaking off into the night to be with some mongrel." he replied bowing deeply.
"Lash is not a mongrel!" Lucile growled, she had all intention of waiting to be alone with Sebastian before unleashing her fury onto him, however she couldn't hold it in. Ciel's eyebrows shot up in surprise at her outburst, but Sebastian stayed in his position.
"I beg to differ." Sebastian replied, malice dripping off his tone. Lucile clenched her fist, oh how she wanted to punch the smirk she knew he was wearing off his face permanently.
"And what would you, a selfish, self-absorbed demon, know about it?" she spat. Sebastian straightened slowly and from Ciel's new facial expression, she knew Sebastian was beyond furious. Lucile didn't care, she'd wanted him to be angry. He'd lied to her, forced her to come back against her will and threatened to kill one of the only members of her kind she'd come across.
"I warned you once to never speak to me like that. I won't be so kind this time." Sebastian stated, "Young Master, I suggest you leave."
"Sebastian, don't be ridic-"
"LEAVE!" Sebastian roared fiercely. Ciel swallowed but narrowed his large blue eye and reached up to untie the eye patch secured around his head that concealed his Faustian Contract.
"Ciel, don't." Lucile said, "Don't order him. This has been coming for a long time." Ciel let out a breath and folded his arms over his chest as he considered Lucile's request. After a few tense seconds, he nodded and walked towards the door where Lucile was still standing.
"I will consent, however I order you both not to kill each other. Lucile, I trust you will remember your love for me and do as I ask." With that the young boy left the two fuming monsters alone to fight out their anger. As the door clicked closed Sebastian disappeared. He moved so fast Lucile couldn't keep up and in a flash she was hurtling across the small room and out of the window. She sailed towards the ground and flipped seconds before impact to land on her feet. Her stomach ached from where he'd kicked her and blood dripped from her lips where his fist had connected with her face. Without waiting another second, Lucile began running towards the paddock and the forest beyond it. The farmers would soon be awake and there was enough fear running through the small village without Sebastian and Lucile's fight causing more panic. As she ran, Lucile could smell Sebastian's scent gaining on her. She knew she could never out run him, nor out fight him. She would be content with at least landing a few bone crushing punches and almost dying.
Lucile stopped running when she believed they were far enough out of sight. Sebastian stood directly in front of her and they stared at each other, waiting for the other to make a slight movement. Lucile's wolf instincts kicked in and she lowered herself to the ground. He'd made the first move and now it was her turn to attack. Sebastian's hand twitched in anticipation and she ran at him. He stood perfectly still. Lucile feigned right, then left, then right again. She saw him put his weight onto his right foot, ready to block her attack. But moment before she would go left again, she dove at him, her shoulder connecting with his stomach as she tackled him to the ground. Straddling him, Lucile let loose a barrage of punches on his face until he kicked her off. She flew back, loose dirt puffing up behind her. Sebastian appeared in front of her using his blinding speed to his advantage and knocked her onto her back. This time the weight he used to hold her down was almost crushing. He'd learned from last time not to give her any leeway. She cursed him and he punched her. More blood spilled from her mouth and she spat in his face. Sebastian's crimson eyes narrowed and his lip turned up in a sadistic grin as he gripped her forearm with so much strength it broke. Lucile bit the inside of her mouth to stop from crying out. She was used to the feeling of her bones breaking, but it had been a long time since it had been so agonizingly slow. Sebastian leaned down until his nose was millimeters away from Lucile's,
"I will make you scream." he threatened dangerously. Lucile glared at him which only made him smirk even more. She'd had enough of that irritating smirk and so before he could sit back up, she headbutted him and broke his nose. Lucile thought it would only make him more angry, but instead he laughed manically, frightening her.
"Excellent!" He cried, "That's it! Fight back! I want to hurt you more and more!" Sebastian squeezed her broken arm hard. Lucile gritted her teeth against the pain and tried to buck him off but he was too heavy. Blood dripped from his nose to his lip. He licked it off and spat it back in her face just as she had done to him. Something stirred within the deepest part of her soul, something twisted and vile. A dark part of her that enjoyed what he had done to her.
Sebastian, grabbing a tight hold on Lucile's dark hair, stood and pulled her up with him. She gripped onto his wrist with her good hand. She felt some of his carpal bones and ulna crack under the force of her grip. However, just like when she'd broken his nose, he continued to grin wildly. Ignoring her attempt at hurting him, Sebastian lifted Lucile off the ground by her hair and threw her into a nearby tree. Air rushed out of her lungs as her back hit the thick trunk. There was a splintering noise and the tree groaned as she sunk to the ground and leaned against it trying to get her breath back. Sebastian slowly walked over to her, eyes hooded with sadistic pleasure. It was clear who was winning this fight.
"I like that expression, Lucile. Fury. It suits you well." he said as he crouched in front of the near defeated woman. A low growl escaped her bruised and bloodied lips making his loins swell more so than when he'd broken her arm. If this continued much longer he was going to have her whether she resisted or not. Sebastian wasn't sure which he'd prefer her to do. Suddenly Lucile slumped forward and continued to pant heavily, her shoulders rising and falling with each labored breath. He was sure she was in complete agony by now, he'd broken at least a dozen of her ribs when he'd kicked her out of the room, and that coupled with the broken arm, cheek bone and possible vertebrae should have had her crying out in pain. Yet, she remained silent as always. He took advantage of having her motionless in front of him to gaze over her almost broken body. Her long, milky white legs were stained with dirt and blood from the glass of the window, his jacket was torn in places revealing more of her soft skin. One of the buttons had come off exposing more of her breath-taking cleavage that Sebastian now had a perfect view of. He was amazing the entire fabric hadn't already come off and indulged the thought of fighting Lucile while she was naked.
Lucile leaned back against the tree again, a grin on her face. Sebastian frowned at her, but before he could react to this new expression she kicked him with both feet in the chest, sending him backwards. Lucile grunted softly as she rose to her feet. Her body ached but she willed it to keep going until she was satisfied with how much she hurt that accursed man. She didn't know how much longer her body could hold out or how much longer she could keep the twisted beast inside her at bay. Once against she dropped onto his chest and began pounding into his face. She didn't care about the rest of his body. His beautiful face was the part that pissed her off the most. If she could mar that, she would be happy. Lucile managed half a dozen decent whacks before Sebastian reversed their positions once more. By now Lucile's strength was waning. Sebastian's face was bruised, bloodied and broken yet he was still beautiful, even more so than before. He had her right where he wanted her, powerless and beneath him. In this position he could do anything he wanted to her.
"How could you?" Lucile wheezed drawing his attention from his perverted thoughts back to her, "How could you...?"
"How could I what? Take you away from that good-for-nothing cur?!" Sebastian was angry again now, "How could you leave your family for a flea-bag you just met?! Are you just going to run off with every scoundrel who wags his tale at you?!" Lucile just blinked at Sebastian's sudden outburst and flinched as his fist connected to the ground next to her head.
"What do you care if I do?!" she yelled back becoming angry once more. Sebastian glared furiously down at her waiting for the comment he knew she was going to make, "You're just a demon." His hand flew to her face once again. The sound of skin on skin echoed throughout the dense woods. Lucile's face stung painfully. Sebastian had never slapped her that hard before. Before she could react, both of his hands were on either side of her face making her look at him again. And then a new, strange sensation overwhelmed her. Lucile was frozen as her mind registered that the soft, warm pressure on her mouth was Sebastian's. Sebastian Michaelis, the demon butler who had made it goal to make Lucile suffer, was kissing her with so much emotion it made her very soul ache. The twisted creature that she had been struggling with to keep locked away howled in disappointment and recoiled back deep within her.
Sebastian sat back and looked down into that wretched woman's golden eyes. Emotions he had been keeping tightly locked away after noticing them had broken free for an instant. Lucile would never forget when he'd shown her today, and he could never run from it again.
"I may be a demon, Lucile Conte, but I am capable of caring about something other than myself."
Ooooh development for LucilexSebastian... But don't count Lash out of the running just yet, his role in this story isn't quite over yet. And soon there will be a new contender for Lucile's heart...who could it be?
I'm curious as to which couple is more popular though;
LucilexSebastian
LucilexBard
LucilexLash
or LucilexUndertaker? Please let me know, I'm rather curious :3
