Author's note: This is my very first story here on fanfiction and it sucks in every way. However there were many people who wanted me to continue this story, so here I am posting the new chapter. Sorry it's too short, but I'm really busy with uni and my exams are coming up. I don't know if I'll leave this story that way or if I'll re-write it, I still haven't decided yet.
Anyway -have a very, very nice day/good night! xXx
11.
It was after midnight when the quietness in the boatshed had returned again.
Will was reading a book that had something to do with diving and was sitting on the couch, while Rikki was outside sitting in her wheelchair, staring out at the water.
She could make a few steps now, but her doctor had advised her not to get exhausted by pushing herself too hard.
Suddenly a thought came to her mind so she pushed the door open and wheeled inside and to where Will was.
"Will?"
He lifted his eyes off the book to look at her.
"Yes?"
"How did I ended up in the hospital?" She asked. "I mean for one moment the plane was falling down straight into the ocean and in the next I woke up in the hospital. Someone must've brought me there."
"I have no idea." Will answered deep in thoughts. "We heard about the incident on the news, but they said there were no survivors. We, however, knew you were alive or at least we hoped so. That's why we went looking for you. We searched everywhere, but we couldn't find you. Then we went to the island where the plane had sunk near to. Zane, Lewis and I searched the grounds and the girls searched the water. They found your necklace and we found drops of blood that we followed to a cave in the heart of the island."
Rikki was listening carefully while Will was telling her the story.
"In the cave in one of the bigger drops we found a scale." Will paused for a second. "A mermaid scale. Your scale. We also found a rock with the word "Help" written on it with blood. We had no idea if the blood was yours, but we thought so. We searched the whole island with no avail. We then searched the hospitals, but still found nothing."
Will sighed. "We would've still been searching for you if Zane hadn't received a phone call from the hospital."
Rikki's expression had become thoughtful once again.
"But if the plane did crushed in the water I must have transformed when it sank. And if I had been in that cave, then -"
Her eyes and Will's connected.
"Then someone must have saved your life, but found out your secret as well." He finished for her.
The two were looking silently at each other when he grabbed his phone.
"We must tell the others."
Rikki took the phone out of his hands.
"No, no way. They'll probably panic and that's the last thing we need right now."
"But, Rikki..."
"Promise me, Will. Promise me you won't tell them!"
Will sighed.
"Fine. I promise."
Rikki gave out a small smile.
"Thanks."
Will looked at her again.
"What do you think about that note we found?" He asked her all of a sudden. "I mean..who do you think could've wrote it?"
"I don't know." Rikki shrugged. "It could've been Sophie or Zane or pretty much anyone."
Will nodded deep in thoughts.
"I'll talk to Sophie, but you have to talk to Zane."
"I guess I have no choice." Rikki sighed.
Will couldn't help but smile at that.
"It'll be ok."
"It's not that." She said.
"Then what?"
"I..nothing. Forget about it."
"Rikki!"
"Fine. It's just..what if it is Zane who had written that note?! I know him better than anyone, Will. If he had found out about us, he'll try anything to keep us away from each other."
Will gently took her hand in his.
"We won't let that happen. Don't worry. Everything will be ok."
And he leaned to kiss her, but she pulled back; it still felt uncomfortable and unfair to Bella and Zane. Will put a piece of hair behind her ear.
"You're beautiful."
Red rushed to her cheeks only to disappear again. There was something else she wanted to talk to him about.
"Look, Will, I don't know how you feel about last night, but I will not.."
"Terrified."
Rikki glared at him.
"Of what?"
"Last night was.." Will let out a quiet groan. "God, I'm such a jerk, I can't do this!"
He began to turn around, but Rikki stopped him.
"Will!"
He looked at her baby blue eyes and started again.
"All those years, there's only one person I've ever been shone of - you." He took a deep breath before continuing. "I've never, /ever/, been close to anyone, not even you.. 'till last night." Will lifted his hand placing it on her cheek. "All I did was hold you and watch you sleep..and it was the best night of my life."
His hand slid off her face falling down.
"So, yeah, I'm..I'm terrified."
"You don't have to be." Rikki spoke confidently, causing him to lift his eyebrows in confusion.
"Were you there with me?!"
"I was." She confirmed.
"Then what's that supposed to mean?"
"I don't know." She shrugged her shoulders. "Does it have to mean anything?"
"No." He shook his head. "Not right now."
"Maybe one day.." She began unsure of what she was about to say, but he interrupted her.
"No, let's just..let's just forget about it." And he gave her an encouraging smile.
She couldn't help but smile too.
"Ok."
He helped her to get off the chair and sit on the bed, then pulled his cover around her, putting his book away.
"Come on, let's go to sleep now. It's late."
And the two of them fell asleep wrapped at each other's arms..yet again.
