While nine genin ran drills through the forest, very likely wishing they had chosen the civilian route, daily life meandered on in Konoha. It was a sleepy Sunday morning and the effects of the hard won peace were painfully evident. The village rebuild more than a decade ago after Pein's attack was crowded and cluttered and buildings were painted in bright colors like they once had been.

A young kunoichi strolled the streets in her common clothes, the high heels of her sandals making slight clicks along the pavement with every step. Her hair would have been long if it were ever seen outside of two buns linked with an intricate braid. She sighed reaching her destination. Things were getting worse. She would have to tell them soon.

Sasuke assesed the nine pre-teens that stood before him, ignoring the speech Shikamaru was giving them about the rules for their little game. Of course Shikamaru phrased it as a "training exercise" to the children. Game was Sasuke's word. They were certainly were an interesting bunch, in regards to their parentage at least. Their personal identities meant very little to him. Except for 'the boy' as Sasuke mentally referred to him. Itachi's son. That was the one that unnerved him most. Sasuke couldn't help but see his brother in his eyes. In every smile. Between that and the miniature Karin that ran around he was certain he would lose his mind, seeing all these faces from the past.

The genin suddenly dispersed, jumping sloppily in several different directions, jolting Sasuke from his thoughts. He turned to face his two companions, he still wouldn't call them friends. He didn't have friends. The Anbu woman came out as well, the emotionless cat mask still obscuring her features.

"So the game is set" Sasuke laughed, hands still thrust in the pockets of his jonin uniform.

Uchiha Yuu moved quickly and efficiently, placing a safe amount between himself and the location he and the others had just departed from. He examined the small scroll he had received, just like all the others. On it was a small Uchiha fan and a flame beneath it. He thought back to the man, Nara Shikamaru had said in order to succeed one of each scroll was required earth, wind, fire, water, and lightning. He needed four more.

Gin was coming to a similar conclusion as he stared down at his own scroll. The character "hatake" and a lightning bolt looking back at him. "This would be fun" the silver haired boy thought, smiling and thinking about beating his sister. He would definitely finish before her.

Mitsuki hid in the under brush, shakily rolling open the scroll. A small Himura clan symbol and beneath it a smaller tear drop shaped representation of water were revealed. She wanted to stay hidden and never crawl out from under the brush she currently used for cover. There was no way she could defeat one of the other genin out there. Let alone four. And she would have to guard her own scroll. No. She would be staying right here for the time being.

A few hours had passed. It was nearly noon and very little action had as of yet occurred. Gin came across Shiranui Hayate and the two had been sparring for sometime. Their taijutsu level was about equal and the two boys went blow for blow before both collapsed.

Mitsuki remained within her hiding place, it wasn't a practical plan but it was all she could think of for the time being. That is until Hyuuga Hitsuya arrived and quickly uncovered her hiding place with the aid of his Byakugan.

He called out, "Come out. Give me your scroll and I won't fight you."

The dark haired girl couldn't think, her first thought was to run. But with those eyes. She didn't know much about them. Ayahi had told her they could let him see more than normal people. The usefulness of that hadn't been relevant to her at the time, back in the academy. But now she could see the utility of such an ability. Actually giving it to him crossed her mind. But if she did that Sasuke would probably send her back to the academy. Not that she minded too much. But her parents, she could practically see the disappointment on her father's face and hear the half true encouragements her mother would try to give her. No she would try at least.

She extricated herself from under the undergrowth various sticks and leaves adorning her hair and clothes. She walked slowly towards the white eyed boy, papery scroll in her extended hand she avoided his gaze, but did notice his dojutsu seemed to be inactivated and she breathed a sigh of relieve. He took it, a grin adorning his face at what luck he had. She darted away as fast as she could hoping her substitution would give her a good enough head start. Approximately three seconds later what the Hyuuga boy assumed was the scroll he needed disappeared into a puff of smoke leaving behind a roughly scroll sized twig. He threw the useless twig to the ground and pursued the source of the deception.

Mitsuki was tiring and quickly realized a rather angry Hyuuga was very close on her trail. She came to a small, open clearing in the wood and stopped to catch her breath. He would catch up anyway. She tried to think about what Ayahi or Shuugetsu would do in this situation. They would probably not have hidden away in the first place was all she could think. And now she was trapped.

A kunai whizzed by her cheek, a small cut forming, and she jumped back from it's source. Hitsuya had caught up. She shook ever so slightly as he took a rather impressive looking taijutsu stance. She shakily assumed her own, trying to recall some of the things she learned in the academy. Her opponent advanced barraging her with a number of hits. She countered a few rather weakly but couldn't land a hit on her opponent. This match would be over quickly. One last strike sent her small form flying into the nearest tree. He stood over, "Give me the scroll and this will be over."

She wasn't going to hand it over willingly and began to try to rise, with quite a lot of difficulty. She rose at last and was promptly sent back to the ground with another strike, albeit a weaker one. "You've lost. Just give me your scroll."

She shook her head and tried to rise. She blocked his first strike and managed to remain standing, though rather precariously. The Hyuuga was about to strike again, wanting to end the bout. She couldn't properly tell but thought this one would almost certainly knock her unconscious.

The impact never came, her teammate was standing between her and her assailant.

I updated. I just sort of felt like writing with the ending of the manga and the new movie and all that jazz. Tried to make this a bit longer to compensate for some other mediocre things I've done. All you people who favorite and alert make my day. Just seeing that people read this at all is pretty awesome.
