"Yuu-san," she said, her mouth falling open in disbelief, she was hardly friends with the other two members of her team, so his appearance was unexpected to say the least.
The dark haired boy turned and looked back at her place on the ground but said nothing, meanwhile the Hyuuga boy resumed his fighting stance. "I'll just take both of your scrolls then," he said simply, less smug and more factual.
Mitsuki knew that she should stand. That two against one was better. But then as she observed the pair about to fight, the focused eyes and taut muscles, she quickly realized she would only be in the way. They were on a different level.
She looked to her teammate who had just intervened, presumably on her behalf. Although he was miles better than her when it came to fighting she noticed the slightly raggedness of his breath and the scrapes and cuts that adorned his skin and clothes. He had already been fighting today. She didn't want anyone to get hurt because of her. It wasn't fair.
Standing with some difficulty, she did the first thing that came to her head, flinging her scroll straight at the head of the unsuspecting Hyuuga, whose near sole attention was on Yuu.
"Run," she yelled, grabbing her teammate's hand and sprinting off in the other direction. She ran as far as she could, stopping only when the burn of her longs made it impossible to go run anymore. The mousy girl collapsed on a nearby log waiting for her breathing to even out.
Her still silent companion sat a few feet away, seemingly also resting. Mitsuki wondered why he was still their when their silence was interrupted by a small, half suppressed laugh. It came from Yuu.
"How dare he laugh at me" Mitsuki thought asking, "What's so funny?" her voice containing more venom then she meant. She was tired and beat up.
"Nothing," he responded, trying to revert back to the usual detached nature her both he and Gin generally displayed.
"What?" she asked again but before he could respond, "Just leave." she said, tears coming to her eyes, "if I'm so pathetic you're going to laugh at me I'd rather you leave." Her voice was low, said almost to herself.
"That's not why I laughed. And I'm not leaving. I figured something out?" he said, smiling slightly at her.
She looked quizzically at him but made no response other than a small sniffle.
He continued, "This is a team exercise. With the number of people and the number of possible natures in the scrolls this has to be completed by the three man squad. Not individually."
Understanding was finally dawning on Mitsuki, "So will need to find Gin-san."
Yuu nodded, "Hopefully, he's already realized and is looking for us."
She shook her head thinking eyes that let you see like Hitsuya's would be helpful right now. Yuuuu stood up saying he thought there should be a small stream nearby and the two walked on together.
The usual silence that permeated their interactions returned as they covered the small distance until she quietly interrupted, "Uh, so, what were you laughing at?" she asked timidly, "If you don't mind."
He smiled again. "He has such a soft smile," she thought to herself, thinking how her own smile occasionally came off as a bit more of a grimace, something she very much regretted. "I was thinking about Hitsuya's face when your scroll came sailing into it," was all he said as they walked on.
The sight of the water was welcome for Mitsuki and she rushed forward wanting to take a drink.
Stopping just at the shore before letting out a shriek and dropping her water bottle.
The face down form of a boy lay half submerged on the bank. "Yuu-san!" she shouted as the form groaned after her metal water bottle hit his shaggy silver head with a clank.

I updated. The manga ending sort of disconcerted me because now I am super AU. I was considering entirely changing this but I haven't and probably won't. So if this lack of canoness offends I apologize. But anyone who does read and like this I appreciate. Also, Happy New Year!
Let me know what you think with a review or message!
