As the young genin dueled it out for those essentially meaning less wrapped up bits up paper, the three sensei's came together after having observed them for some hours.
Sasuke was reminded of just how inept genin were.
He leaned broodily against the nearest tree, arms crossed in thought, and tried to (unsucessfully) tune out none other than the blonde fools who had been on the fringes of his life for as long as he could remember.
"Shikaaamaruuuu" the blonde said, at his usual enhanced volume, as he slung an arm around his friend and mock cried, "I heard about Ino-chan and that blonde, model-like Kumo ni—"
Shikamaru cut him off puling away from the half hug, "I am not discussing my lo—that, with you," he said losing a bit of his usual composure causing Sasuke to laugh just slightly.
"Besides, who am I to care if she wants to spend her time with him. Shi is a good Shinobi." The genius Shinobi offered quite rationally, though his clever brain could hardly mask the look in his eyes that perhaps spoke contrary to his words.
"It's okay, man," the blonde, arguably strongest Shinobi in the world offered, "Me, you and Lee know the pain of a broken heart."
Then he turned his gaze towards Sasuke, "Unlike our heartless bastard, Sasuke here."
Sasuke said little in response aside from a certain grunt he favored that at this time could be interpreted to mean he could give a shit if Naruto thought he was heartless.
Ever since things went off track with Hinata a few years ago Naruto had become significantly more invested in love of the romantic variety; particularly the love lives of his friends.
Sasuke did not appreciate the interest. He was alone in the world and figured he would be for duration of life. He wasn't sure he deserved love.
"What the hell!" the young silver haired genuine exclaimed, clamoring to his feet after the metal canister connected quite cruelly with the back of his head.
He heard a squeal of surprise, "You're alive!" his female teammate exclaimed
"I am alive." He responded unenthused, rubbing the back of his head and glaring in her direction which set off a sequence of bows and "sumimasens" that went on for far too long.
Yuu came closer, "What happened to you," the Uchiha heir asked, more out of curiosity than great concern. He didn't look too seriously injured though he did have a few nicks and bruises that would be painful later.
"I was after Hayate," he said easily, "He didn't get my scroll. But I didn't get his either."
The Uchiha boy nodded, "You realized this is a team activity?"
"Yep. So lets see what scrolls we've got?"
Yuu complied pulling out his scroll marked with his name and the small flame. Gin did the same and turned his gaze towards Himura.
Her eyes were downcast and a fierce blush of embarrassment covered her face.
"You lost yours," he groaned, "I should have expected it."
"I—I'll try to get it back," she squeaked, still avoiding his gaze.
"Whatever," he said dismissively, "Let's come up with a plan."
