Hero to zero: chapter 8
The old trader walked the dark path at the bottom of the ravine. A cloak the only thing sheltering him as he investigated the commotion he had just heard. He continued until he saw two shifty looking figures ahead, looking at them he decided to hide. He witnessed one ruffling though a bag of sorts. The trader's curiosity got the better of him overcoming the fear of the two figures in front of him telling him to get away. He didn't want to confront them disturbed due to their hushed attitude, but that did not stop him witnessing one pull out a shiny red stone, before a golden flash appeared and the figures shape changed.
Monkey's eyes were wide with shock, where his killer once stood now sky was visible. He looked to the right when the wolves holding him down let up and he could finally move freely, excluding his still throbbing knee.
"Get off me." He heard the panda scream through a struggling breath, the tiger trying to pin him down. "You will not stop me." Bo grunted.
"Watch me." The tiger growled brawling on the floor with the panda. Neither one was landing anything substantial, in the end they deciding to roll away from each other and get back to their feet.
"Leave him." Bo ordered as his followers advanced onto his opponent "he is mine." He voiced looking over at Monkey he took note the leopard was protecting him "looks like I have to lessons to teach" he chuckled. Getting into a fighter stance the two regarded each other, sizing up their opponent tiger versus panda.
"Sir?" one of the wolves ran up to the panda before whispering something then running off again.
The panda grunted regarding those around him before giving a sigh of defeat. "Fine take them and get out of here." He started walking off before turning back to them with a menacing glare "any of you try and leave you will be killed on the spot no mercy next time." And with that he was gone back over the barricade and out of sight.
Monkey was perplexed he thought he was dead and yet here he was. Guess he would have to deal with the knee after all. "Thank you" he managed sitting up carefully regarding the two newcomers as the wolves retreated, all confused at the panda's decision. "Do I get your names?" monkey asked
It was the leopard that spoke up this time "I'm Chyou and this is Hu" she said gesturing towards the tiger who gave a small gesture of greeting back. "But after we left our homes we stopped using those names and instead used their meaning so this is Tiger" she gestured to the tiger again "and I'm sweet Autumn but I just use Autumn as my name." she finished
"Nice to meet you I'm Monkey and my friends are Crane, Viper and Mantis." He said looking around to find where they had all ended up. Tiger had started to check on them Crane being the only one who had started to wake up.
"We are gonna need to get that back in place Monkey." Tiger gestured sympathetically as Monkey grunted, trying to get a better look at his knee. The right one sat well out of place putting him off trying to move it.
"No leave it, I'll sort it" Monkey panicked not wanting the tiger messing with something that was hurting him. He wasn't however expecting him to step back and look at him expectantly.
"Go on then" Tiger said standing back and watching the monkey try and lean forward to sort himself out. Monkey managed to reach forward and grab his knee. As soon as he did it tensed involuntary shooting with pain and forcing him to let go and fall back to the ground hissing with pain.
"Want help?"
"NO!" Monkey growled he knew he needed it but he couldn't help being a bad patient.
"So you're just going to sit there with your knee dislocated?" Tiger questioned confused why the monkey refused help.
"No I'm …" Monkey trailed off, not sure what he was going to do.
"Just ignore him and sort it out." Crane jumped in cradling his broken and rubbing at his head with the other that Bo had stood on, thankfully it had not been too damaged. Walking over to Monkey "it has to be done better to just get it over with."
Monkey panicked as Autumn walked over to his leg "No! No! I'll sort it in a sec! Leave it alone! No! ARGH!" Monkey screamed as she grabbed his leg and pulled it straight. His kneecap falling back into place, his scream turned into quiet whimpering as he tried to get the pain under control.
"That's that." She brushed her hands together before addressing Crane. "Got somewhere safe?"
"Yeah I'll lead the way mind getting my friends?" Crane asked knowing he had no chance of getting them back in his current condition, except Mantis or maybe Viper at a push.
"Sure" The Leopard answered "Tiger can you carry Monkey? I will get the snake and bug."
"Viper and Mantis" Crane stated their names; trying to be friendly to his saviours.
"Imaginative" Tiger grumbled
"Says the tiger called Tiger" Autumn laughed causing him to double take before sticking his tongue out at her looking stupid as it didn't suit him.
Autumn picked up Viper wrapping her around her neck in order to pick up Mantis while Tiger Picked up Monkey, who had recovered enough to stop complaining.
"This way" Crane started off towards the palace it was a trip he wasn't used to walking already he missed being able it use his wing.
The walk to the palace was quiet; conversation not on any of their minds as they completed their trek. Mantis and Viper had woken but both were disorientated, so Autumn had carried them both back, with Mantis choosing to ride on her shoulder. They got there with relative ease getting some worried looks from villagers as they passed through but they ignored them. Despite injuries Zeng had escaped and should bring help so the mission was a success of sorts and no one had been killed that was a bonus.
They reached the top of the thousand stairs with Crane slightly out of breath, being forced to walk and oddly the tiger who had seemed quite fit. Grandmaster Shifu greeted them at the top weary of the two newcomers. Relaxing a bit as the furious four filled him in with the situation. He breathed a sigh of relief at the relative success of the day. "I guess we all owe you two our gratitude." Shifu addressed the two saviours Tiger and Autumn. "For tonight you may stay here. We lost two warriors recently, you may take their rooms but please be respectful, and we shall talk in the morning."
"Thank you" the tiger and leopard responded with the lateness of the hour and how long everyone's day had been they all retired to the beds, the healer would be along in the morning to check on the injured.
As everyone settled down most were getting reading for bed and comfortable when a yelp of surprise came from Po's old room that Tiger was using, followed by a roar of anger and the same thought crossed Monkey and Mantis's mind;
'The pranked bed!'
A/N Thank you to MasterTigress4444 and AlienHeart1915 for the reviews i will try and get the next chap done for next week. my grammar might be off and the writing might be simpler for example i wasn't as comfortable writing a fight scene so might have skipped it slightly but i will try. I could try and get someone to grammar check my work if people feel it is necessary but will keep it to myself otherwise as might make the updates further apart.
