Hey, everybody! I hope you all enjoyed last chapter. This is the penultimate chapter, so let me know what you all think. Unlike previous chapters, this will be written in the third person, a point of view I don't usually use, so if it seems a little awkward, let me know. Now for the chapter! Disclaimer: Kim Possible belongs to Disney.
(3rd Person POV)
"But you don't understand!" Kim wails. She has been trying to get Dr. Drakken's memory device from the waiting room for a while now. "Beth, it's not a cell phone, I swear," Kim pleads with her neighbor and nurse on duty. Beth, the nurse, shoots Kim a look and asks how she plans to prove that it's not a cell phone. Exasperated, Kim sasses off to Beth and says that she knows not use a cell phone in the hospital and that she shouldn't need to prove anything. Because of that, Beth decides that she won't return to memory device to Kim.
Defeated, Kim storms back to Ron's hospital room. Upon her entrance, Shego and Dr. Drakken bombard Kim with questions about the whereabouts of the device. Kim plops down in one of the uncomfortable metal chairs and peers up at the two villains.
Sarcastically, she asks, "Why don't you two go get the device?" Taken aback by her sister's remark, Shego pulls away and marches out of the room, on a mission to retrieve the device and terminate the situation. She is fed up with everything that has happened as a result of their discovery. As she walks, a realization strikes her: it really hasn't been that long since she and Kim discovered they are sisters. It feels like an eternity ago, though.
At the waiting room, Shego battles her impulses to throw plasma at the nurse Beth. She's tried everything, other than violence, to convince the nurse to give the memory device back. Finally she gives up and, hissing to Beth, asks what it will take to prove the memory restoring device is not a cell phone. Beth says she needs to see if it has a provider name on the screen or a SIM card. Hurriedly, Shego snatches up the device and searches for both pieces of evidence. When she can't find them, Beth relinquishes the device over to Shego. Shego thanks Beth before racing back to Ron's room.
"I've got it!" she cries. Everyone celebrates, except a dazed Ron and Dr. Possible, who had stepped out approximately an hour ago to perform an emergency operation. "How'd it end up at the waiting room in the first place?" Kim sighs and starts to explain.
"Beth is my neighbor and a close family friend; she is also one of Ron's nurses, and she must have seen the device -"
"The Memory Restoring-inator!" Dr. Drakken corrects Kim.
"That. Beth must have seen it because she confiscated it while you two were out."
"Does she have permission to do that?" Shego asks.
"As a family friend, yes. As a nurse, I'm not sure. No matter; we have it back, so let's try it again." There's an edge of anxiety and uncertainty in Kim's voice. She, more than anyone else in the room besides Ron himself, wants Ron to make a full recovery.
Cautiously Dr. Drakken approaches Ron's side and gently places the Memory Restoring-inator on Ron's shoulder. He presses the green button and leaps away. Kim feels her heart pounding in her throat. Why would Dr. Drakken jump back unless it was going to EXPLODE?!
Quickly, Kim tackles the blue man, pinning him to the tile floor. Both Shego and Dr. Drakken are in shock and suffering from major confusion. When she realizes neither of the two villains know why she attacked Dr. Drakken, Kim gets off Dr. Drakken and asks bewilderedly if the device was going to explode. By this point, confusion fills the atmosphere and is being inhaled regularly. Dr. Drakken says that there's no way his device could explode because there is no self-destruct button, nor is it wired to do so. Sheepishly, Kim apologizes to the two and goes back to watching her boyfriend.
The device doesn't seem to do anything, and panic rises inside Kim. Then Ron begins to shift more in the bed. Finally, he bolts upright and gasps.
"Kim!" Ron cries. Kim, who is actually crying, embraces Ron for what feels like an eternity.
"Do you remember everything?" Kim asks, her voice shaking. Ron says nothing for a minute, as if he's flipping through eighteen years of memories to ensure they are all there. Then, he nods; he says that he remembers everything that has happened since his accident too.
Letting go of Ron and turning to Dr. Drakken and her sister, Kim pulls them into a hug and thanks then for helping her beloved boyfriend. Dr. Drakken smiles widely, thinking that perhaps he is meant to help the world rather than take it over, yet he isn't prepared to let all those years of work go to waste. If there some way he could do what he loves and do what works without sacrificing one for the other.
Meanwhile, Shego worries about what will happen now that Ron is better, and Kim won't need her support anymore; or is it Shego who won't have Kim's support anymore? Unsure of how she feels about Ron's miraculous recovery, Shego decides to step away in order to clear her thoughts and resolve her conflicting thoughts. Shego pats Kim's back from an awkward angle before pushing herself out of the tight hug. She wants to protect herself from the any more hurt than what she will feel once Kim moves on.
However, before Shego is able to leave the room, someone grabs her waist and pulls her close.
"I love you," Dr. Drakken whispers in Shego's ear.
"I love you too," Shego replies.
Then Dr. Drakken releases Shego, steps back, gets down on one knee and pulls out a black velvet box. "I know we haven't been dating, but I figure that after living and working together for years we know one another better than we know ourselves. I can't imagine spending the rest of my life with anybody else, and, Shego, will you marry me?" he asks.
Stunned and crying tears of joy, Shego exclaims yes and nearly tackles her now fiancé with a hug. The happy couple kisses while Ron and Kim watch happily.
That's the end of Chapter 9, so there's only one more left. I hope you all have enjoyed reading this fanfiction, even though it's shorter than most of the others you all might read. That's all I've got for this chapter. Don't forget to follow, favorite, and review! I love you all, Butterflies!
