Hello peeps, and welcome back for yet another chapter! I know I was suppose to update yesterday, and i'm sorry that I didn't, but I actually have a legible excuse (aside from my laziness). So, yesterday in school (social studies, to be specific) I stood up at the end of class to leave, turned to the right to walk out of my chair, and with the most sickening crack sound ever, I fell to the floor. I hit my head on a desk on the way down, but it was nothing compared to the pain in my knee, so I hardly noticed. I already knew my knee had popped out of it's socket (5th freaking time this has happened), but when I pulled up my pant leg, the knee cap was sticking out about 4 inches. 4 freaking inches! Do you know how painful that is (and the pain keeps getting worse until its back in place)? I was about to whack it back into place (which according the the doctor, I should have), but a mix of being scared to, and not knowing exactly how to, kept me from doing that. It popped itself back into place in a couple of minutes, with yet another sickening crack sound. So, enough of my agony. I have a tip for all of the other authors that read my story! Listen to music while you write. Like your favorite song or something, as long as it doesn't have words (they tend to distract you more). I can usually cut half an hour to an hour off the time it takes to write a chapter if I do this. Right now I am listening to Nanobii by Monstercat, you should really check it out on youtube, it's pretty good. So, about last chapters question, nobody even guessed it, so I guess you will find out this chapter what the answer is! So, as usual, any and all feedback is encouraged and appreciated, see you guys later!

See you after the chapter,

-Tytonic and his scratchy knee brace

Gregor and the War of the Myriapods

Chapter 23: Awoken

He would have helped, but he was to tired to move, his legs were frozen in place. He watched as Ripred and Xano finally buckled, and he waited to see them get overtaken by slashers, but the moment never came. Instead, he watched as hundreds of gnawers flooded the cavern from behind the slashers, and began to tear through them. He watched for a few minutes as the rats tore through the slashers. He watched as the final slasher got it's head torn off by a large rat. He noticed that Ripred and Xano were very weak, but still going.

The last thing Gregor felt was the fur of a bat around him, as he was flown back to the palace, and then everything went black.

Luxa's Point of View

Luxa was watching over the battle, and was horrified at the scene before her. She watched as the circle of soldiers, the last left, got compromised. She knew that it would be a miracle if Ripred, Xano, and most of all Gregor, survived this battle.

Luxa had no time to worry about this, as she jumped up onto Aurora's back. She knew that around a hundred soldiers till remained beyond the wall, in the farmlands. Luxa knew that, with the amount of remaining slashers, Regalia would be lost. She could only hope that the rats arrived in time to aid in the battle.

As Aurora took off, Luxa felt something tug on Aurora, and she looked to her right, dreading what she would see. What she saw confirmed her horrors, as a slasher tail teared right through Aurora's wing, from the body, all the way to the wingtip. Aurora was determined to keep going, but she only managed to get another five feet into the air, leaving them at fifteen feet up.

The last thing Luxa remembers is Aurora falling, her falling, seeing the ground get closer, and closer. She braced for impact, and as she hit the ground, everything went black.

Luxa came to, overlooking the battle from the wall. She watched as Gregor, Ripred, and Xano face an oncoming army of slashers, without an army of their own to fight beside them.

As the force of slashers collided with the three, Ripred and Xano dissolved into thin air, as if they were never there, and Luxa watched in horror as the entire army began to surrounded Gregor. He fought off the first few with ease, but has to begin his rager spin immediately, as they began to attack from all sides.

This dragged on for what seemed like hours to Luxa, watching Gregor spin, blood flying everywhere. Luxa kept watching, and tried to pry her eyes off of the sight, as Gregor finally buckled. She couldn't look away, yet wanted to, as Gregor began to take hits. She watched, as he was ripped, limb for limb, and she watched him stare a slasher in the eyes, as it reached forward, and tore his throat out.

Luxa wanted to fly out and help, but she couldn't move, she was completely frozen in place. She was forced to watch, as the slashers pushed forward, walking right over Gregor's mangled body, and up the the wall. The slashers walked right around her, as they headed straight to the city. She watched them go through the city, destroying absolutely everything, and she could hear the screaming, and the screeches as the slashers slaughtered her people.

She willed herself to move, and she finally managed to gain control of her body. She dragged herself to the edge of the wall, and jumped off, to be caught by Aurora. As she landed on Aurora's back, the entire world seemed to melt away, and there she was, standing in highhall.

She could feel the sudden change in her dress, and she looked down. A wedding gown. She looked around her, and could see dozens of faces looking up at her. She could see beautiful decorations all over the room. Everything was silent. She knew what was happening, and when she looked to her side, she saw Hayden, in a suit, with a toothy grin plastered on his face. She dreaded what she was about to hear.

"Queen Luxa, do you take Hayden to be your husband; to live together in the covenant of marriage? Do you promise to love him, comfort him, honor and keep him, in sickness and in health; and, forsaking all others, be faithful to him as long as you both shall live?" Asked the Minister.

"I do." Replied Luxa. She was screaming in her head, she couldn't control what was happening, she could only watch as the events transpired.

"Hayden, do you take queen Luxa to be your wife; to live together in the covenant of marriage? Do you promise to love her, comfort her, honor and keep her, in sickness and in health; and, forsaking all others, be faithful to her as long as you both shall live?" Asked the Minister, once again.

"I do." Replied Hayden. Luxa wanted to hit him right now.

"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. Hayden, you may kiss the bride." Said the Minister.

Hayden leaned forward, as did Luxa. She had absolutely no control over what she was doing, and she wanted to throw up as their lips met. The minister continued before the two broke apart.

"It's my great honor and privilege to be the first to present to you, the King and Queen of Regalia!" Cheered the Minister.

Everyone began to cheer, and Luxa looked at the crowd. She could see Gregor in the back, watching, not cheering. She wanted to go to him so badly, but still had no control over her actions. She watched as he turned around, and walked out of highhall. She could have sworn that she saw a tear run down his cheek as he left.

Luxa's eyes snapped open, and she awoke. She was breathing heavily, and she could feel the cold sweat run down her forehead. She quickly looked around, and noticed that she was laying in a hospital bed. She slowly sat up, and felt a pain shoot through her head. She had a terrible headache, and she could feel a bandage wrapped around her head. She noticed Howard walk into the room.

"I see you are awake, Luxa." Said Howard.

"What. . . what happened?" Asked Luxa, confused.

"You fell off of Aurora when she got yanked to the ground by a slasher. You hit your head pretty hard." Replied Howard.

All of Luxa's memories returned to her.

"Is Aurora okay? What about Gregor and Ripred? What about the city?" Asked Luxa frantically.

"Calm down Luxa, they are all fine. The city has taken a little damage, but nothing serious. Now, about Gregor. . . We need to talk." Responded Howard.

Luxa knew exactly what was about to come, and she prepared to strike Howard across the face, again.

"Howard, we have been over this before. . ." Growled Luxa.

"Luxa. . . that's not what I wanted to talk about, not entirely. I. . . I wanted to say that I'm sorry about that. It was wrong of me to say the things I did." Replied Howard.

"R-Really?" Stuttered Luxa.

"Yes. It is still wrong of an overlander and a queen to be together, but I think it okay for you and Gregor to be together. I know you are fully aware of what will happen if you do not marry by the age of 18, and you know the council would never allow you to marry Gregor. I just want to let you know that I support you and Gregor's relationship, but if you wish it to continue, you will have to give up being queen." Said Howard.

"I am aware. But. . . why are you saying this?" Asked Luxa.

"Because. If it were not for Gregor, you and Aurora would not be breathing right now, and if it were not for him, none of Regalia would be standing as of now." Replied Howard.

"W-what did he do?" Asked Luxa, curious.

"According to Ripred and Xano, when he saw you go down, he lost it. Xano said something about it being called outrage, but they both said that his entire fighting style changed. That he stopped spinning, and that he began to make his way to the wall, cutting through the slashers with ease, were as Rirped and Xano were struggling. They said that he somehow managed to get to the top of the wall, and fought off the slashers that were about to kill you and Aurora. He, supposedly, lit the oil that was on the wall, keeping more slashers from coming up, and finished off the rest of them on the wall. He had Chronos bring you back here, while he stayed to protect Aurora, who would need more than one flier to bring back to the palace. Chronos brought him back to the palace after getting you here. He had passed out from exhaustion by the time Chronos had gotten him here. The rats finished off the slashers, and saved Rirped and Xano. . . From asking more questions, I learned what outrage is. It is clear that Gregor was willing to die in order to save you." Explained Howard.

"Can. . . Can I see him?" Asked Luxa.

"Yes, but he will not be awake. He is covered in small cuts, but will be fine, he just needs sleep." Responded Howard.

"Take me to him." Said Luxa.

Howard nodded in response.

Gregor's Point of View

Black. Everything was black.

Gregor looked around, taking in his surroundings. Not that he needed to, he could see with echolocation that there was nothing around, not even a floor, though he could feel one beneath his feet.

This was all to familiar to Gregor. While in the overland, he would have dreams, or rather nightmares, of falling every night, though they seemed to disappear once he met Chronos. He would have nightmares of his loved ones dying in front of him, being tortured to death, and he was forced to watch, while they begged for help.

There was something slightly different this time and he could feel it,, but he didn't know what. He picked a direction, and began to walk, clicking every once in a while, attempting to find something with echolocation. He would find nothing each time.

He walked for what felt like hours, or was it days? Maybe even weeks? Gregor couldn't tell, for all he knew it could have been seconds. He kept walking until he heard something, it sounded like a speech.

Gregor broke into a jog towards this sound, wondering the whole way why he couldn't pick it up with echolocation. The sound gradually got louder, bit by bit, until Gregor could recognize it as a mans voice, and older man at that.

Gregor eventually found his way to a stone doorway. It had no walls around it, but had a thick curtain hanging inside of it. Gregor pushed the curtain aside, and felt his heart drop the second he saw what was happening.

There were people gathered in highhall, it was absolutely packed. Gregor saw that everybody was dressed up, and looking closely at three people. There was a minister, a young man, probably eighteen to twenty years old, and a young women, around sixteen years old.

Luxa.

Gregor knew exactly what was going on. Luxa was getting married to Hayden, and the Minister was making it official right now.

Gregor felt like screaming in protest, but couldn't, n fact he couldn't move at all. Gregor would have ripped his hair out in frustration, that is, if he could move.

"Hayden, do you take queen Luxa to be your wife; to live together in the covenant of marriage? Do you promise to love her, comfort her, honor and keep her, in sickness and in health; and, forsaking all others, be faithful to her as long as you both shall live?" Asked the Minister, once more.

"I do." Replied Hayden. Gregor was already thinking of all the different ways he could kill Hayden.

"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. Hayden, you may kiss the bride." Said the Minister.

Gregor was forced to watch as Luxa and Hayden leaned in and kissed. This infuriated him, but what was even worse, was that Luxa was smiling, she looked happy. Before the two broke apart, the Minister continued.

"It's my great honor and privilege to be the first to present to you, the King and Queen of Regalia!" Cheered the Minister.

The entire room filled with cheers, people celebrating their new rulers. Gregor didn't cheer. Not that he could have, even if he wanted to. He was looking directly at Luxa when She broke the kiss with Hayden. She glanced over the crowd, he eyes landing on Gregor. They maintained eye contact for a few seconds. Gregor could see it on her face. He could see a multitude of emotions, all closely related to bliss.

Gregor broke their eye contact. He turned around, and walked back out of the room, into the black world once more. He felt a tear slide down his cheek as he left.

When Gregor entered the black world once more, he came to a realization.

Luxa didn't love him anymore.

As this though spread across the plains of Gregor's mind, he felt a wave hit him. Not physically, but mentally. It hit him with such force, that he fell to the ground.

As Gregor hit the ground, his eyes shot open. He was breathing in short rapid breaths, and had cold sweat running down his forehead. He didn't even bother looking around, already knowing his surroundings, due to echolocation.

He saw people, but with the dream, no, scratch that, nightmare, still fresh in his head, he couldn't identify who all was in the room. He noticed somebody sitting next to him on the bed.

Luxa.

Without a word, she wrapped her arms around him, and he returned the embrace. They hugged each other as if one of them was going to vanish, never to be seen again. It was only once the memories started to flow back to Gregor, did he pull away.

"What. . . What all happened? I remember everything up until I blacked out, so what happened after? How long was I out?" Asked Gregor.

"You were out for around 10 hours. After you blacked out, you were taken strait here. It's because of you that Regalia still stands." Responded Howard, at Gregor's right side.

"What about Ripred and Xano? Aurora?" Asked Gregor.

"Ripred and Xano have many injuries, but none that will not heal within a few days. Aurora has a large tear on her right wing, and will not be able to fly for a good week or so, and even then, she will not be fully recovered. She needs a few weeks before she is filly recovered." Replied Howard.

"What else?" Asked Gregor.

"We have lost the entire Regalia army, save about sixty soldiers. We will not survive another attack, and it would be a prime time for others, such as the cutters, to come and destroy us." Replied Luxa.

"So, what are we going to do then? We know the slasher's are going to attack again." Asked Gregor, worried.

"We do not know. There is to be a council meeting on the subject soon. It was put off until you have awaken, you must bath, and go to the council room." Said Luxa.

"Ok I'll be there." Responded Gregor, slowly sliding out of the bed.

As everybody filtered out of the room, Gregor found himself hobbling down the the baths. He passed many people, who all gave him thankful looks, knowing he was the reason they lived. Once he arrived at the baths, he stripped down, and slid into a steamy hot bath. He felt all the knots in his back loosen, and he relaxed an immense amount.

Gregor stayed like that for a few minutes, and only to out of the bath when he remembered the council meeting he had to attend. He jumped out of the bath, and tossed on the cloths that he found waiting for him (as well as his sword and dagger, which were waiting as well).

Gregor the proceeded to make his way down to the council room. On his way, he got, once again, many thankful looks from random underlanders. When he arrived at the council room, he walked right in. The entire room went silent as he entered, and took his seat to Luxa's left. Normally he would sit to her right, but that seat was already taken by, guess who, Hayden.

"Ahh, yes, there you are warrior, we were beginning to question whether or not you would show." Said a council man.

"So, we have come to a design during your absence. It is clear that we will not survive another attack, which we know is coming. I regret to say, that we are relying on Xano's information. We have no other choice. It is the only chance we have at survival, even with the rats fighting for us. We are going to send a small team into the heart of the slasher's land, and they are going to assassinate the slasher's royal family. You see, if we only kill the leader-" Said another council man, before being cut off by Luxa.

"Gregor knows. He was with me during Xano's interrogation, he knows of what to do." Said Luxa.

"Of course. We have already decided on the team to send. It shall consist of Ripred, Howard, Hayden, and perhaps you, along with their respective fliers." Said the same man.

"Perhaps?" Asked Gregor.

"Perhaps. You and your family have been given permission to return to the overland if you wish, though we would ask of you to stay, for this mission may be a failure without your assistance." Said a different council man.

Luxa gave Gregor a pleading look, and he could tell exactly what she was thinking from it. She didn't want Gregor to leave, and she wanted to accompany him on the quest if he went.

"I'll go." Responded Gregor.

"That is good to hear, we shall leave-" Said the same man, before being cut off once more.

"Under one condition. Luxa come's with." Said Gregor.

"You are trying to lead my beloved to her own death!" Growled Hayden.

"How stupid are you? After what happened on the wall, you think that he is trying to kill Luxa?" Said Ripred, from somewhere across the room.

"Yes! Why else wold he force her to come?" Responded Hayden.

"Force me to come? Gregor only said that because he knows that I want to go!" Declared Luxa.

"No! I will not allow you to go!" Hissed Hayden.

"You cannot, and will not, tell me what I can and can't do!" Hissed Luxa.

"I am your fiancé! You should respect my desire to protect you!" Replied Hayden.

"Why would I respect you? You have given me nothing to respect!" Growled Luxa.

"You should respect me because I am your fiancé!" Responded Hayden.

"Do you think I want that? You are forced upon me! You have never even proposed, by law you are NOT my fiancé!" Hissed Luxa.

"As you have said, we will be leaving tomorrow afternoon. I shall accompany the others on this quest. Meeting dismissed." Said Luxa as she got up and left the room, venom apparent in her voice.

The entire council had their mouths hanging open, and glared at Gregor as he stood up.

"Well, good enough for me. I'm out." Declared Gregor, as he got up and left the room.

Gregor went down the hall, and he continued down to the hospital. He felt guilty that he had not visited Alex yet. When he arrived, he found a doctor tending to a large wound on Alex's chest, and Zoey sitting aside Alex's bed.

"Hey, how is Alex doing?" Asked Gregor

"He is doing okay, for now. He has lost large amounts of blood, but should make a full recovery. It is a miracle, he should have died long ago. It only shows how strong the human will can be, if you have the desire to live, then you shall live." Responded the doctor.

Gregor nodded in response, and felt a wave of relief flood over him. Alex was going to live. Gregor went over to Zoey, and sat down next to her.

"Hey Zoey, how you doing?" Asked Gregor.

"I'm fine, just worried for Alex. How are you? I heard you saved the city." Said Zoey.

"I'm good, just a few scratches. Plus you seem to have finally gotten over your obsession for me." Said Gregor, regretting starting that immediately.

"Wait, what? I wouldn't call it an obsession, but you, you knew?" Asked Zoey.

"Yes, I did. In fact, I've know for a while, it's hard to miss." Said Gregor.

"I. . .I. . ." Stuttered Zoey.

"You have always loved Alex, you just didn't know it. I'll see you later, I have some stuff to do." Said Gregor as he got up and left, not waiting for Zoey's response.

Gregor truthfully didn't have anywhere he needed to go, he just wanted to get out of that uncomfortable situation. Gregor went to his room, and dreaded what was going to come next when he saw who was waiting for him. The look she gave him, oh boy, if looks could kill.

"M-Mom?" Stuttered Gregor.

So that's that! I hope you all enjoyed the chapter! I know a few things in here needed to be elaborated, and that I may have forgotten about the rest of Gregor's family for a time now. . . But no more! I have already decided on what most of the next chapter will be, and this story is beginning to kick off! Not even I can tell you guys whether this story is almost over, or if it is about halfway done. . . I just have no clue. Sometime I know what I want to do in a chapter, and I don't even end up doing half of it, so I can only get a rough estimate of it. I would say I am about ¾ done, but that could be dead on, or miles off. So, it's late, and I need sleep, see I'm going to bed.

As usual, any and all feedback is encouraged and appreciated, see you guys later!

Until next time,

-Tytonic

Question: What is Gregor's mom gonna do/say (this isn't a hard one)

*CLICKCLICKCLICK*

*POOF*

Tytonic- Thoughts, ideas?

Luxa- Yes, can you please kill Hayden?

Gregor- Can I rip his throat out?

Tytonic- Uhh. . . No? I already have everything planned out, I won't just kill somebody randomly!

Gregor- Aww come on! Your such a bore!

*Luxa looks down sadly*

Tytonic- Deal with it, it's my story, it will go how I want it to go.

Gregor- Come on! I am so sick of you!

Tytonic- That's my cue! See you later!
