HELLOOO PEOPLE OF EARTH. I am sO sorry like...you know the same old excuse busy life, started college, etc. I have about 2000 more words written but it kinda jumps around so I thought ehh might as well post a little bit and try to get this story rolling again. I'm close to being done with the next chapter after this which should be 2k or so. Anyway, if you're still with me I love you. ARE YOU READY FOR FRIDAY!? Thanks Lizz for being my beta!
After their date, Kurt collapsed onto his bed, wondering who replaced it with clouds. Kurt grinned from ear-to-ear into his pillow, not even allowing his conscious mind to scold him for being so happy. He felt like a teenager again, and he wanted to bask in every second of it, since growing up was overrated anyway.
It was the simplest and most rewarding first date Kurt had ever been on. There were no expectations, no awkward questions, just a lot of smiling. They already knew each other so well that nothing really seemed any different, except that the flirting was no longer unintentional.
"Blaine Anderson," Kurt whispered to himself before shoving his face back into his pillow. He never wanted to stop saying his name. Kurt was officially done for.
Later, right before Kurt was about to turn out his light, there was knocking coming from the wall that connected to Blaine's bedroom. Kurt thought it might just be Blaine's headboard at first, but then it continued in a strange pattern. Kurt tentatively knocked on the wall behind him and there was momentary silence...until it started again. Blaine Anderson what are you doing?
Kurt reached over to his cell phone and dialed Blaine's number, which by no surprise he could actually hear ringing on the other side. Kurt was almost ashamed by how much his mood improved with the sound of Blaine's voice, if that was even possible.
"I wasn't finished with my message yet," Blaine whined melodramatically.
"I can actually physically feel you pouting right now," Kurt laughed as he sat back against the headboard of his bed, a feeling of peacefulness washing over him. "And oh my god don't tell me you were sending me a message in Morse code."
"Fine, I won't tell you that I was definitely sending you a message in Morse code."
Who knew the cheesiest-and most adorable-person on the entire planet lived next door. "Well in that case, what did you definitely not say?"
"Thank you for a wonderful evening."
"The pleasure's all mine. It was definitely the best first date I've ever been on,"
There was a moment of silence before Blaine replied, "Kurt, I…" Blaine said gently before trailing off.
"What's wrong?" Kurt could feel something was off by the change in Blaine's tone.
"Nothing...It's just...embarrassing."
"I honestly don't think anything could be as embarrassing as how quickly I practically inhaled that piece of cheesecake tonight."
"That wasn't embarrassing, it was cute," he said softly. "It's just...I've never really...done this before."
"But I saw you talk on a phone just earlier today?"
"Kurt…" Blaine obviously was trying to suppress a laugh before becoming quiet again. "Dated. I mean- I've never had a boyfriend. Not saying that's what you-we are-unless you want to be. I mean-" Blaine let out an exasperated sigh. "Super smooth," he muttered to himself.
Kurt was surprised. Blaine had always been so charismatic and romantic from the moment Kurt met him. It was hard to believe Blaine had never been with anyone else before. Not that it mattered. It shouldn't matter, right?
"Well, now I don't have to worry about any exes coming to try to take you back." When Blaine didn't reply, he encouragingly said, "But it's really nothing to be embarrassed about." Maybe this was why Blaine never pushed for anything more than friendship.
For now Kurt decided to forget his past and start fresh, because for once in the years since he graduated high school he felt like he deserved it. "And I honestly have nothing against being in an exclusive relationship...if that's something you would want."
Blaine knocked on the wall and Kurt tried not to laugh. "Are you telling me I'm going to have to learn Morse code now?"
"Only if you want to know what I said."
That night, Kurt Hummel learned Morse code.
Thank you sooo much for reading. Reviews keep me inspired (and remind me I have to keep writing lol). :)
