AN: this is an incredibly short chapter im sorry!
CH 26: wings
Maka raced down the wide hallway, the black puppy hard on her heels. She laughed as the ball of fluff shot past her. She sped up, trying to keep pace with the puppy, but he turned a corner and disappeared for a moment.
The angel huffed and pushed herself faster, her lungs burning and her bare feet stung. Tobi was still a little ways in front of her. Her tattoos stung slightly, like her wings wanted release. She pushed herself a little faster, letting her wings unfold, long and white with red stains.
She glided over Tobi and landed in front of him. Maka scooped him up and hugged him. He wiggled away and turned human; he stood up and smiled happily then touched one of her wings. "Why are there red spots?" he asked.
Maka looked at him and stretched out a wing, running her fingers over one of the red spots.
"learn to do as your told!" Hiro yelled, striking her across the face. Maka held her cheek, tears running down her face. "I-I'm sorry." She whimpered. Hiro grabbed her arm roughly and dragged her to her room. "You're not fit to be an angel! You should have your wings plucked!" he snarled and threw her to the floor, slamming the door shut.
Maka sat there, tears streaming down her face. Her wings extended, white and pure. "I have no right to be an angel…"she said, taking hold of a feather near the top. "I should have my wings plucked…"she choked out, her hands trembling; she then yanked the feather out.
Fresh tears fell onto her dress while blood streamed down her wings and dripped off the ends. She continued to tare feathers from both wings. Her hands, dress, wings, and floor where covered in blood and feathers, tears mixing with the crimson.
"Maka ?" called a voice. Her door opened and a boy with brown hair and silver eyes walked in. "Th-Thomas." She choked out as the boy knelt down to help her.
Maka looked at Tobi sadly and knelt down. "I used to hurt myself." She said softly. Tobi gasped and shook his head, giving her a tight hug. "No! No more! No more hurting yourself! It makes Tobi sad!" Maka hugged him back and smiled slightly. "Don't worry I won't, I'm too happy now to do something like that."
