CH 30: loss

*two months later*

Soul kiss Maka's slightly swollen stomach. "hello little one!" he said happily. Maka giggled. "Do you need to do this every morning?" she asked. He looked up at her and nodded. She rolled her eyes but smiled. He smiled back and kissed her quickly. the angel smiled more and let out a happy hum.

Soul smiled lovingly. "I love you." He said softly putting his forehead on hers. "you and our little bird." Maka continued to smile then got off the bed with a huff. "you need to get to work." She said. Soul huffed and stretched. "fine fine." He sighed and kissed her head. "I'll see you later beautiful." He said softly.

Maka smiled and kissed his chin. He smiled and walked out of their room. Maka stretched and rubbed her belly then walked out to go find Tsubaki.

The electric demon smiled and put a hand on the angel's stomach. " your baby is going to be beautiful." Tsubaki said, straightening up and smiling. The women talked for a bit before Tsubaki excused herself, needing to return to cleaning and to find her lover, blackstar.

Maka waved her good bye and headed to kids garden, she hadn't seen Crona and kid in a few days. She opened the door and looked around with a smile; she stepped inside and walked through the oak trees. An elegant multi colored doe made of light crossed the angel's path and looked at her with bright green eyes, it flicked an ear then continued to walk.

Maka smiled and continued to walk till she found the pink haired girl sitting a tree. "hello maka." She said, climbing down from the tree. She wore a black haltertop and looked so much more healthy. The Halfling was no longer bone thin and had gained a few pounds, she beamed with life and happiness. But her former pain still showed in the long black jagged scar across her back, cutting through her beautiful rainbow wing tattoos. Her 'caretaker', ragnarock, had scared the girl then rubbed ink into the wound to show everyone that she was considered filth in the angel world.

"hello crona." She said happily. Kid dropped from the tree next to Crona, making both girls jump. Kid smiled and wrapped an arm around the halflings waist. "hello lady maka." The three talked for a while, sitting in the field of flowers until maka excused herself and wondered the castle for a bit.

She walked to the throneroom and poked her head in to see Soul, leaning forward in the black throne, his elbows on his knees and his head in his hands. She walked over silently and touched his shoulder gently. "Soul? Are you alright?" she asked softly. Soul looked up and smiled then stood and put a hand on her cheek. "im alright dove." He said, putting his forehead on hers, he then sat back down and patted his leg.

Maka smiled and sat in his lap, putting her head on his shoulder and curling her legs to the side. Soul wrapped his arms around his delicate angel and kissed her head gently, rubbing her arm with his thumb. She leaned up and kissed the underside of his chin then lay her head back down.

Soul smiled and squeezed her gently. "Dove?" "hm?" she looked up at him. The prince leaned back and ran his fingers through his hair. "you.. you know that one marriage thing? You'd be good at it, w-we should the marriage thing, like after you've had the kid, and we'll be married. You'd be a great queen and mom and lots of people like you and I like you, well I mean that's obvious, I don't just like you I love you a lot and I really care about you. So that's why we should do the marriage thing and get-."

Maka kissed him, cutting him off, she pulled away and smiled. "you where rambling." She said softly, her cheeks red. Soul's own cheeks where pink and he rubbed the back of his neck. "I-I really do want to marry you." He mumbled. She smiled and kissed him quickly and gently, then lets get married." She said softly. The demon smiled happily and kissed the angel, who put a hand on his chest.

They stayed like that for a moment, their arms wrapped around each other. They jumped away when the door slammed open and Blackstar staggered in, blood dripping down his face, holding a gash on his arm. He took a few more steps then fell to his knees.

Maka quickly got off Soul who jumped up and ran to his best friend. "Blackstar, what the hell happened?" he asked kneeling down beside his half brother. The blue haired demon grabbed the prince's shirt. "Angels, Soul, they're here for Maka." He said through grit teeth.

Souls eyes got wide and he jumped up. "Maka, we need to get you to Tsubaki." He said quickly, his arm turning white and scaly. The fear demon got to his feet. "Leave Tsubaki out of this!" he snarled. "if the angels find them, then Tsubaki will be killed!"

Soul bared his teeth at his best friend but did nothing else. He turned and grabbed Maka's hand gently, pulling her out of the throne room and down the hallway. Maka glanced around as they ran, they turned a corner and an angel came into view and rushed them.

Soul pushed Maka out of the way gently, his white wings extending and his tail thrashing, then the angel was in reaching distance, Soul grabbed the angels head and slammed it into the ground then drove his tail through the angels head.

He grabbed Maka's hand and began to run again, the dragon mask forming on his head. The angel whimpered softly and looked around. Soul stopped and turned to look at her. "It's alright, Maka." He said softly, pulling her into a gentle hug. She nuzzled her face into his chest and wrapped her arms around him. He lifted his mask and kissed her head gently. "Come on little dove, we need to get you to a safe place." He said softly. Maka nodded and they began to run again.

Maka realized that he was taking her to the music room,, a room very difficult to find unless you knew where it was. They got there and Soul pulled her inside, he went to close the door but a foot caught it.

Maka backed away quickly as it opened. Soul's scythe appeared in his hand, but it wasn't his normal black and red, it looked like a dragon, its long wing was the blade, a fierce head opposite it, the end of the staff was sharp, the weapon was black other than the horns and eyes, which where burgundy, black smoke seemed to curl off it. Soul grinned wildly and stood in front of Maka as the door opened.

Hiro stepped inside, his gray and white wings on display, the long holy sword in his hand; he sneered and looked at the hell prince, walking further into the room. Kami entered the room and saw Maka behind Soul.

"Why are you doing this kami?" snarled the demon. "Because I want my daughter back!" Kami hissed. Soul bared his fangs and snarled. "I won't let you take her! Can't you see she's happy here?!" The queen scoffed. "You've poisoned her mind, Hiro, take her."

Hiro grinned. "With pleasure, my lady." He sneered then rushed at the lovers. Soul extended his wings and roared in outrage, swinging the deadly scythe. Hiro dodged and swung at him. Soul hissed and his tail came up to block the strike.

Hiro sneered and lifted his hand, electricity crackling across his palm, he pressed his hand to Soul's chest, making the demon yowl and stumble back. The angel took his chance and sliced at the demon's arm, he then grabbed Maka and pulled her close. Maka struggled to get away from him but he held her tight and dragged her over to Kami.

Soul stumbled slightly. "Kami, please, don't take her from me, im begging you." He pleaded. Kami sneered at him. "and why should i?" Soul fell to his hands and knees, looking up at the queen. "she's pregnant with my child, please, don't take her!"

The queen had a look of disgust on her face then looked at Hiro. "kill it." Hiro grinned and held up his hand, the electricity dancing over his hand. Soul's eyes got wide and he jumped up. Hiro grinned like a mad man and slammed his hand into Maka's abdomen. Maka let out a blood curtailing screech of agony. "NO!" roared Soul and reached for Maka, but the three where already gone.
