ME NO OWN FAIRY TAIL

Cutting the Thread

"You're losing this battle, you've lost since the moment you stepped in here and that was your mistake." Jack said as she stood up to her full height, Erza's eyes following her every movement as Jack lifted her scythe and held it above her head, ready to bring it down and kill the famous Titania. "To say I'm a little disappointed, would be farfetched. Bye-bye, Titania." she sang as she brought down the scythe, the weapon a little more than a blur as it swung down to meet its target.

Metal met metal in a shower of spikes, Jack's eyes widening as Erza deflected her blade.

"How…?" Jack whispered in shock.

"It seems you don't know a thing about me or my friends." Erza growled as she stared straight into Jack's eyes with a fiery determination that made the other girl feel weak in her knees and tremble slightly, her resolve for killing her wavering. "We don't just give up, not even when we are brought to our knees or winning seems farfetched. We are not that weak-willed as you might think. We are Fairy Tail. We are comrades, friends, we are family. You wanna know what that means?" she asked as she started to slowly rise, pushing the scythe away from her blade and making Jack stumble a few paces back. "When a member of our family is hurt, there is nothing we won't do, nothing that will stand in our way! We won't fail until everything is right! We won't die until everyone is healed! Cause that's who we are!" Erza swung her blade down on Jack, the girl barely having time to deflect with her own, the force causing her to slide back as Erza pushed all her weight behind her thrust.

"T-that's absurd!" Jack stuttered, focusing on gaining the upper hand. Erza smiled down at her, a corner of her mouth turning up in amusement.

"Is it? Is it really?" she asked. Jack jumped a few paces back, her scythe posed before her and ready to strike. She watched the scarlet haired teen warily, biting the corner of her bottom lip in nervousness and chewing softly, eyes narrowed.

"Didn't think I'd need to do this." she said, surprising Erza just barely who had her sword in front of her and ready to defend or offend. "But it seems like this is my last resort, my last card." A corner of her mouth turned up just slightly as she snorted, rising her scythe above her, the ruby gem glowing. "I call upon the dead! The spirit in which is deceased and slumbers within, awaken and follow my orders! Come before me my humble servant and do what you were born to do! Awaken! Mortem!" The eyes that had peered down at the battle unnoticed seemed to glow until Erza had to shield her eyes or she'll go blind. When the light went away, she looked back up only to see a boy the same age as Jack, only taller.

He had white uneven hair with two locks in the front that went to his shoulders while the rest stuck up in messy spikes and was so pale he looked like Death himself. He had crimson cat-like eyes and upon his head were two fluffy cat ears and behind him swished a white cat tail. He wore a black spiked collar with a broken leash hanging limply in front of him and a red and black vest on top of a dark grey shirt with black shorts. He wore no shoes, and that's when Erza noticed the two metal cuffs on his ankles and wrists with a small chain that had been broken off.

He looked at Erza in his hunched position and whispered under his breath, a crazed smile with sharp pointy teeth showing.

"Your soul," he whispered in a raspy demented voice, crazed smile becoming even wider than before. He took a deep inhale through his nose, eyes closing for a fraction of a second before snapping wide open and glowing. "Your soul! It smells delicious! Mortem wishes to eat your soul! Oh, yes, how would I love to devour it! I shall have your soul! Mortem needs your soul! There's no doubt about it! Your soul belongs to me!" he howled with shrilly laughter that pierced the room and made Erza flinch at the pitch. Behind him, Jack stood undisturbed, her eyes that had shown weariness before now showing triumph as she smiled wide.

"She's all yours Mortem, have fun~."

Despite the way Luke may look and act, he was a tough opponent for Mira who had no doubt that even Erza would have trouble fighting him. And all the kid had was a freakin' baseball bat! Honestly, Mira felt a little frustrated by the fact that she was having a hard time with a kid who wasn't even using magic, who didn't even seem to have magic. She might never actually mention this to anyone again, considering if she got out alive that is.

"Home run!" Luke yelled as he swung at her while she was distracted, hitting her so hard she flew into the wall and Pandora must have put some type of magical barrier up or something because a hit like that would've sent Mira through thousands of other walls, but all it did was make it crumble and break, still somehow standing.

Mira peeled herself from the wall just in time for Luke to start to swing his bat at her again, jumping behind him. She raised both fist above her and before Luke could have time to react, brought the down on his head, the boy crumpling at her feet. There was a few moments of silence as Luke seemed to be unconscious with blood pouring from a huge gash on his forehead until he started to slowly stand up.

Mira backed away a few paces, arms in front of her and ready to fight as Luke looked at her with startling blank eyes as if he had to process what had just happened while blood from the gash on his forehead poured down in his eyes and down his cheeks, staining his clothes and the floor red.

He blinked, raising the bat and making Mira tense up.

"Now I'm done playing. I'm getting bored and you don't play nice. I guess I won't play nice now. But I'll give you one chance to give up." he told her casually, eyes scarily blank. Mira squinted her eyes in suspicion, a delicate white eyebrow raised.

"And why would I do that?" she asked. Luke looked at her innocently with his bloody bat.

"Because I can see the red thread connecting you to your soul mate, that is, and given any moment that I want, I can cut it sending you and your other half into a state where you can no longer love and turn you into a shell of your former self." he replied. Mira's eyes widened, narrowing once again seconds later.

"I'll never give up, not even if you cut that thread." Mira hissed through clenched teeth. Luke sighed, shoulders dropping.

"I was afraid you were going to say that." he admitted as a pair of white ghostly looking scissors appeared in his hand. "Guess you and your soul mate are going to have to say goodbye to love."

Mira didn't notice when he suddenly appeared right in front of her until a snipping sound was heard and it seemed like her whole world shattered before her.
