Good Girls~5SOS

"Wow it's baby smooth!" Mikan rubbed her hand across Natsume's face and any tension that had built up broke with an audible snap. "There isn't a single hair! Wow!"

Natsume swatted her hand away and narrowed his eyes. "Alright, I'll see you later then," Mikan laughed softly and stood up. Without looking back she went inside with her faint smile and her lipstick stained cup of coffee.

He sat there for a while longer wondering whether he had imagined the whole thing or there was a certain comfort growing between them. He shook his head and stood looking back at Mikan's house. He walked back remembering it was six in the morning and people would be waking up soon and he should try to get some rest before his "date" with Mikan.

The so called date wasn't at all what he had in mind. Aoi had tagged along and sat between them throughout the movie and he'd fallen asleep half way through.

"How can you say that?! Angelina was so perfect for that role," Mikan exclaimed as she exited the theater with a grumpy Natsume and an overly excited Aoi.

"That's right brother! She was so good. She didn't just play Maleficent she was Maleficent."

Natsume shrugged, "Yeah okay whatever she was good."

Mikan mumbled to herself and took her phone from her pocket. She dialed Hotaru who answered on the second ring. "Are you there yet? I don't want to be waiting for you like last time."

Mikan rolled her eyes, "Yes I'm here. I'll meet you at the ice cream place."

Mikan returned her phone to her pocket and turned to Natsume who was still arguing with Aoi over the film, "Well me and Aoi are going to go wait for Hotaru, I'll see you later," she gave him a quick peck on the cheek without giving it a second thought.

The girls left after that, leaving Natsume slightly dazed and confused, with a hand to his cheek.

Natsume had spent the rest of the day and most of the night trying to figure out what the kiss meant. He'd given up on going to bed a bit after six, he rolled off his bunk and headed to the window and to his surprise Mikan was there just like the first time he had the unexplainable urge to look outside. She looked like she was floating. She spun and jumped and he sighed. She looked so beautiful. Her hair coming undone her steps speeding up, he'd never felt something like this. Never felt what she was making him feel. She made him feel more tan just alive. His body filled with energy and a sudden urge to move with her.

He watched as if it was his own private show. He watched until the sun raised and his eyes hurt from the brightness. He watched even when she spun so fast he felt dizzy himself. He watched until she was finished and she laid on the grass smiling at world just like she had a few days before.

Natsume had to force himself to step back from the window. He wanted her, and whatever he wanted, he got. And when he was bored he'd throw it away and find something better, but for right now he wasn't going to think about the end or the middle just the start of whatever this was going to be.

Natsume's parents had left Mikan's home later that week. He hadn't called her nor had she made any attempt to contact him. Her morning dance routines continued to mesmerize him and he'd stopped thinking about the kiss and began thinking of how to get her in his bed. Usually he'd just go up to a girl and say hey and their panties were on the floor in a second, but that was obviously not working so he'd have to think of something else.

He was out playing basketball with Ruka to help clear his head when Hotaru's car pulled up into Mikan's driveway across the street. She looked like she was in pyjamas and looked absolutely furious. Mikan looked the same when she came out through the front door. They talked for a while outside then Hotaru nodded and Mikan's face broke into a smile.

They exchanged a few words before crossing the street. Mikan spoke first when she stepped onto her neighbours driveway, "We want to play against you. Teams of five."

Hotaru dribbled the ball she'd gotten from her car, "If we win you have to take us to Ramon's once in a blue moon buffet and pay. If you win, we still go to the buffet but we pay."

Ruka stammered a bit before forming a coherent sentence, "Yeah alright okay. That sounds fun. What do you think, Natsume?"

Natsume's face broke into an almost smile, "I'm always up for a challenge." There was a glint of amusement in Mikan's eye when their eyes met.

"Alright bunny boy, but we are using our ball and an actual court," Hotaru passed the ball to Ruka, who fumbled before getting a good grip.

"We'll meet you at the rec centre," Mikan took the ball back from Ruka and the girls made their way back to the other side of the road.

Ruka punched his best friend's arm, "DUDE! Was that their twisted way of asking us out on a date!"

Natsume only gave him a lopsided smile as he pulled out his cell and climbed into his car.

On the other side, the girls went into Mikan's home. She called Hotaru in the middle of her nap making her best friend absolutely furious. The brunette came up with the supposed brilliant idea of tricking the boys into paying for their traditional buffet day. The first part of their scheme had gone according to plan. Hotaru had gotten over her grouchy mood since she figured she'd be saving a lot of money if they won. They packed some snacks and changed into matching shirts before calling the rest of their team.

The boys had been at the rec centre at least twenty minutes before the girls arrived. They approached them in the same manner as they had earlier, except this time there was more of them and they all wore matching 'Dream Team' shirts, "What took you so long, did you stop for drive thru, or something?"

Hotaru's response was a glare and a cold yes. She took the ball from Mikan and dribbled and then pointed at Natsume, "You and Mikan are doing the thing. First team to reach fifty points wins."

"Hold on we are missing a player. Mochu couldn't make it," Ruka interrupted.

Hotaru scoffed, "Our benchwarmer will play with you."

Yuu stepped up from the back of the group of girls. Koko and Kitsume snickered, "Are they your bitches, or are you theirs?" one of the sandy haired brothers said mockingly as they broke out into laughter.

Sumire's nose scrounged up in disgust. She placed her hands on her hips as she talked, "Koko you are pathetic. Hotaru might have called him a benchwarmer but, Yuu's been in varsity basketball since seventh grade something you would know if you are your brother weren't baked all the time. We are gonna wipe the floor with you."

The boys continued laughing. Until Natsume cleared his throat and signalled them to their positions.

After a few seconds of pep-talk Mikan took her place in the middle of the court. Her eyes had that glint of amusement that never quite seemed to go away. She stood face to face with Natsume, both ready to jump for the ball. Their hight difference was close to non-existent, but even though Natsume was the taller of the two, he couldn't ignore the confidence that radiated from his opponent.

Hotaru pulled a boy from the court next to theirs, "Toss it," she gave him the ball and positioned herself a few feet behind Natsume.

The boy tossed the ball up and Mikan and Natsume followed it with their eyes preparing to jump at the right moment. He jumped up half a second earlier than Mikan but her jump was higher and she reached the ball before him.

The orange sphere went over Natsume's head toward his opponents teammate. Hotaru caught it and began to dribble toward their basket. Before she could make it Ruka blocked her. He saw a mocking smile make it's way to her face taking over her usual neutral expression and without taking her eyes off him she passed it back to Mikan.

Mikan was at the three point line with her team blocking their opponents and Natsume still a few feet away. She didn't hesitate to take her shot. She bent her knees and aimed. She went up, let the ball go and landed following the sphere with her eyes. It went straight in.

The game continued on like that for a few minutes with the Dream Team always three points ahead. Eventually, though, the boys caught the rhythm the girls had. Mikan made her plays as if she was dancing to a song. Natsume had caught on to her movements and kept up with her but that didn't stop them from scoring.

They were taking a break when the score was 39-41. The boys finally had a two point lead. Mikan called her team over to one side of the court and Natsume and his teammates went to the other.

By now there was an audience. Some cheering for the boys and some for the Dream Team. The audience was the only reason they knew the score because both teams were far too concentrated on winning.

"Looks like they've figure out 'Say you will be there' as well, we are moving onto 'Don't Stop,' it'll throw them off," Mikan looked at the girls as she went over their new strategy.

Ana swiped sweat off her forehead, "Remind me why you name our plays after songs?"

"They're named after the song I was listening to while coming up with them and anyway that's not important. Let's beat them, Ramon's buffet literally only comes once every couple of months."

The girls all nodded their heads. "For Ramon's," they cheered in unison.

Both teams went back out to the court and Mikan restarted the game looking for someone who was free. She looked at Hotaru who was marked my Ruka and bounce passed the ball to Sumire who maneuvered her way around Koko like a cat.

The girls had a suddenly fast pace. They didn't waste a second between passing and shooting. Since the restart the boys had only managed one, two pointer and now Mikan had the ball for the final basket. They were at 48-43. Mikan bent her knees to shoot but as she jumped Natsume appeared before her and jumped as well.

Natsume thought he'd finally gotten her, but she didn't looked surprised more like she was expecting it. She spun in the air and he figured she never intended to make the shot. She passed the ball back to Ana who was under the net and who's hook shot never missed.

The ball went in and the net made a whooshing sound. The ball bounced a few times before coming to a stop on the ground and the small audience that had gathered cheered. Reality hit both the winning and the loosing team. The girls ran towards each other cheering and shouting. All the boys stared in disbelief, with the exception of Yuu who was congratulating the girls.

Sumire wore a smug smile on her face as she spoke to the other team,"I guess we'll see you next week at Ramon's."

Mikan beamed with pride, "That was a great game you guys! We've been playin here since we were young and it's been a while since we've had a tough opponent."

Mikan thanked and congratulated the boys and wished them better luck next time.

"We shoud do this again soon! And next time we definitely won't underestime girl power, right, Natsume?" Ruka smiled as he patted his friend on the back.

The groups each headed their own way after the crowd had dispersed. Before they could leave Mikan ran up to the boys, "Hey, if you guy aren't too worn out you should stop by my place like around five. The girls and I were just gonna hang be the pool and then watch movies."

Ruka looked at her bright smile and couldn't refuse. He answered for everyone, "Sure, we'll be there later."

Mikan's smile grew wider, "Cool see you then!" She turned and skipped back to her friends.

Natsume smiled to himself at the thought of being able to see her so much in one day. He was lost in his daze and became oblivious to the similar smile Ruka wore as well.
