Chapter 15: Tests

*45 Min Later*

Gabi paced back and forth nervously in the hospital waiting room. Troy sat on a chair, his eyes scanning over his phone. Messages from his Mom coming in quite frequently. He lifted his eyes to watch his wife pace up and down for what seemed like the hundredth time.

"Gabs Chill." He said as she walked over to him. Once she was in arms length Troy grabbed her and pulled her onto his lap, pressing a soft kiss into her curls.

"I can't chill Troy, our baby girl is back there probably scared to death." Gabi muttered really quickly. Troy silenced her with a kiss.

"Gabs, she's asleep, she won't even know were not there, and the doctor said one of us could be there before she wakes up, so when she does wake up she will see us. It will be like we never left her side."

"But.."

"Not buts Gabi, look there's her doctor coming towards us now."

"Mr Bolton, Mrs Bolton." He addressed the nervous looking couple when he approached them. "Hetty has just finished her scan and is currently in the process of being moved to the recovery room. You can both follow me and I'll take you to her, but only one of you can go in the room, once she's awake the other may come in."

Troy put his hand on Gabriella's small of her back. "You go in first Brie, she'll call out for you anyway. I'll call my mom and see what chaos is going on at home." He turned Gabi round to face him, as they stopped outside the recovery room where their daughter was currently situated. "As soon as she wakes up I'll be right there Brie, okay."

She weakly nodded, and Troy kissed her lips sweetly before she disappeared behind the doors.

*With Gabi*

Hetty was the only child currently in the recovery room, so she wasn't hard to find. Gabi rushed over to her and she had to stop the tears from falling at how small she looked against the white covers of the hospital bed. Her left hand had been bandaged up, and was resting delicately on her stomach. A small smile crossed Gabi's face as a teddy bear, the hospital staff had given Hetty, was laid next to her with a bandage up its arm as well.

She took Hetty's unbandage hand in her own and sat down on the chair next to the bed.

After about half an hour, Hetty was still out cold on the bed. One of the nurses came in to check on her whilst Gabi excused herself to go to the bathroom.

She left the room and ran into Troy, who jumped up from the chair and ran over to her. "Brie baby? Is she awake?" He asked.

Gabriella shook her head, "No, but you can go in if you want. I need the toilet and if she wakes up, at least you'll be there." She smiled weakly at him, before pecking his lips and rushed off down the hall to the bathroom.

*With Troy*

Troy watched Gabi disappear into the bathroom, before he pushed open the recovery room door and wandered over to Hetty.

He smiled gratefully at the nurse at his daughters side, before he leant over and kissed Hetty's forehead before collapsing into the chair that Gabi had previously sat in. He watched Hetty carefully, before he pulled out his iPhone and checked his Twitter.

His profile had just loaded, when Hetty took a sharp intake of breath from the bed. Troy glanced up and immediately locked his phone before shoving it in his pocket. He stood up and gently ran his fingers over the back of Hetty's hand.

"Hetty baby girl," he whispered quietly. "Hetty, it's daddy. Can you hear me?"

Hetty groaned, and Troy watched as her eyes flickered for a moment before she lifted her hand and rubbed at her eyes. "Momma?" She mumbled as she lowered her hand and slowly opened her eyes. "Momma? Momma come."

Troy let out a small sigh of relief before he kissed Hetty's forehead. "No baby, it's Daddy."

Hetty's face crumpled up. "Momma?" She called quietly and Troy shook his head.

"No Momma baby girl, it's Daddy."

Hetty let out a small cry, catching the attention of the nurse. "Momma, want Momma." She wailed.

The nurse came over and fiddled with the IV in Hetty's hand. "It's alright sweetie, we'll get your Mommy." Then she turned to Troy, "do you know where she went?"

Troy nodded and took Hetty's hand in his in attempt to calm her down, but she only cried harder. "Yeah, she just went to the bathroom, she'll be back any minute now I should think."

Hetty's painful sobs carried on and Troy looked over at the nurse. "Can I pick her up?" He asked. "It might calm her down." She nodded, and Troy reached down and stripped Hetty of the thin white sheet before he pulled the sobbing girl into his arms.

Hetty dropped her head onto Troy's shoulder and she gripped fistfuls of his shirt. "Momma," she sobbed, and Troy kissed her temple and rubbed her back

"I know baby girl, I know." He muttered to her.

Gabi came through the door a few moments later, and she took in the sight of Troy holding Hetty to his chest, muttering things into her ear as the girl rubbed at her red eyes.

The door closing behind her caught Hetty's attention and the young girl caught her mothers eye. "Momma," she muttered as she picked her head off Troy's shoulder and extended her arms out towards Gabriella.

Crossing the small space of the room, Gabi went over to Troy and she took Hetty from him. Hetty gripped onto Gabi and she pressed her face into her mothers neck. Burying herself in Gabi's curls.

"It's alright baby girl. I'm here, Momma's here." She dropped a kiss to Hetty's temple as the girl snuggled into her, Gabi's hand rubbing small circles on the child's back to comfort her. She swayed slightly on the spot and adjusted Hetty in her arms, the girl whimpering at the movement.

Troy sat back down in the chair and yet again pulled out his phone. He chuckled seeing a photo from his Mom come through, the kids all dressed up and the little ones with their faces smeared with cake. He opened Twitter and updated his account letting everyone know that Hetty was recovering well, before he put the phone back away.

A knock came at the door and Gabi cuddled Hetty close as Hetty's doctor walked into the room with a clipboard in his hand.

"Ahh Bolton family," he greeted. "I've got Hetty's test results here."

Gabi shifted Hetty and sat down on the hospital bed, Hetty situated on her lap facing her chest. Soft whimpers coming from the girl every few minutes. Troy sat down beside his wife and placed a comforting hand on her knee.

The doctor flipped the top page over and quickly looked at the results. "Well," he began. "From what I can see..."
