Hii! I didn't get up to 20 reviews but I've got an idea for chapter 6!
Chapter Six: Lennie
Waking up to a light that shines on my eyes, I blinked a couple times to adjust the light on my eyes. "Oh thank the Jesus!" I heard Slim. I turned my head to look at where I am. I looked down at where I'm lying, I'm on the table. I looked around and I see that I'm still in the cabin, "Uhhh…." I moaned when I put my hand on my forehead because I've got a headache. "You alright, Stacey?" George asked concernedly. I looked over to George and see that he's sitting beside her.
"I guess…." My voice trailed away when I sit up, George's hand is on my back, helping me up. I groaned as I sit up fully. "I'm going to kill him," I said as I look up to see the guys' looking at me, worried is all over on their faces. "No you don't," Slim said sternly as he walked where I can see him. "He fought Lennie which isn't nice at all," I said, trying to get up but George stopped me. "Please, he punched you and you need your rest," George said gently.
"Ugh." I said as I rolled my eyes and I walked away but Slim stopped me. "Please, I can take him." I said to Slim. Slim gave me a stern look on his face that made me shut up. "Stacey," he spoke gently, "You nearly gotten killed by Curly, I—we—don't want to lose you again, not after what happened years ago." Slim said as he put his hand on my shoulders, I sighed. I felt guilty because I made all the guys worried themselves to death and all I wanted was to fight my cousin.
He's right, I thought. They didn't want to go through like that ever again. I sighed once more and said, "Alright, but this time you're letting me off the hook because I care about you all," I pointed at Slim. Slim smiled in relief that I'm not going out there to get myself killed again.
I turned around and looked straight at George, "How's Lennie?" I asked while I put my hands on my hips, wanting to know how Lennie is doing since he stood up for me. "He's fine, thanks to you." George said, smiling at me. "Where is he?" I asked once more. "He's outside," George's head motioned to the door. I nodded to George and I walked outside, feeling a bit queasy but overall I look fine.
"Lennie?" I looked around to find him and I see no Lennie because he's not outside at all, I was confused. Where can he be? I scratched my head to think about where he is. Then I remembered what Lennie told me.
"Hey guys!" I said as I put cooling water on my face, it felt so much better after I put the water on my face to cool off. George and Lennie looked at me at the same time, I smiled at them. Lennie and George didn't say anything but stares at me. I wondered what's on my face but then Lennie asked after he put his finger out, "Do you have dog?" I was confused, "Yes…I do have a dog, but he's very old. Why?" "Because he wanted a pup so badly since we got here, I promised him I would get one for him," George explained. I nodded, understanding what he said.
"Oh! Slim's dog just got pups, maybe you can ask him?" I suggested.
George said with a smile, "That's a good idea. Hold on," George walked to Slim and began talking to him about Lennie might have the pups.
Slim smiled. That's when I knew Lennie is going to get the pup he wanted.
Ah! The barn! I thought as I saw the barn and I walked to the barn. I opened the door and walked slowly to find Lennie and I found him at last. I smiled sweetly as I see what Lennie is doing. He's holding the white pup and petting it gently.
"Hi Lennie," I said, carefully not trying to scare him. Lennie looked up and he smiled like a child just saw his presents on Christmas day. "Can I come in?" I asked. Lennie stands up, still holding the pup, "Stacey!" Lennie shouted gleefully. I smiled as I walked in the stall. Lennie hugged me unexpectedly and I was surprised at first then I smiled as I relaxed and hugged him back, he hugged me surprisingly gentle.
"You're okay!" Lennie said as he pulled away from the hug. I smiled, "Yeah, I'm alive." I said, Lennie nodded and began petting the pup. "Can I pet it too?" I asked. Lennie nodded. "Yes, but just gentle. Because it's still a baby." Lennie sits down and I nodded as I sit down, "That's right!" I chimed in agreement. I began petting the pup gently because it's still a baby. Lennie looked at me, I looked at him back and we both smiled.
Gee, Lennie's a giant but he's like a child, I thought. "Why did you save me?" Lennie asked, I wasn't expected that question. "Because you didn't deserve to be beaten up like that just because you didn't do anything," I explained. Lennie looked at me, frowned as if he's about to cry. "What's wrong?" I asked as I put my hand on his broad shoulder.
"I didn't save you like you do," Lennie's voice filled with sadness and he looked down at the pup. "Nah, you did save me," I shake my head with disagreement. Lennie looked up with his eyes sparkled. "You got me out of the punching just in time because if it weren't for you, I'd be dead. So you carried me to the table." I smiled at him. Lennie shakes his head, I mimicked his shaking. "It wasn't me." He said. I'm confused.
"If you didn't carry me to the table then who did?" I asked Lennie went back to petting the pup and leave my question hanging.
Little did I know George is in the doorway of the stall, heard everything and smiled.
That is all I have for you right now! This is the idea it popped out. I hope it's not short as you'd wanted it to be. I hope to make this long for some of my readers that wanted longer. Review, message and rate! Thanks y'all!
