Connor's POV
I needed to get that brat of mine back. Alyssa hasn't been able to cook since she became with child. I hope this new one will turn out better then Emma. Then I would finally be able to exterminate that bitch of Claire's. The only reason I took her from Claire was to have a new punching bag. Claire was my old one but she didn't seem like she would last much longer. Once this new child is born I can finish Emma off. If it's a boy then I guess I'd have to keep Emma but if it's a girl I'll be able to kill Emma and play with this new toy. I've only wanted a boy. Emma was a mistake. She was supposed to be a boy. I've only ever wanted a son to be molded in my image. Women are useless except for cooking and 'playing' with, if you know what I mean. Alyssa is already seven months pregnant. I'm only a little surprised her idiot brother didn't notice. She was wearing a baggy sweatshirt. Emma doesn't even know.
Claire doesn't seem all that willing to give me back her daughter. I'd have to fix that at all costs. Alyssa isn't so willing to give me what I want so I'd have to do it with someone who can't as easily fight back.
Claire's POV
I heard muffled voices. They were only some words I could make out such as, 'Emma, Claire, and okay'. I opened my eyes even though they felt glued shut. Blinking a few times finally cleared them and I saw I was back in the living room at the Glass House. My head was pounding fiercely. I tried to sit up but I felt nauseous and week. Nobody had noticed I was awake yet. I needed to know how Emma was doing and the only way to do that seemed to be to try to get someone's attention. "Shane", I said. My voice was so muffled and hoarse I barely even heard myself. It seemed like Michael did though because he turned from where he was talking with Eve and saw I was awake.
"Claire, how are you doing?" He asked coming over to the couch where I was resting.
"Where's Emma?" I croaked out.
"Don't worry, Claire. Emma's upstairs in your bed with Shane. She woke up crying so he took her up there so she'd calm down without waking you," Michael explained.
"I want to see her," I said. My voice was starting to sound stronger.
I started to heave myself up. I felt terrible. My legs were killing me along with my arms, I had a jackhammer type headache, and I was just plain week at the moment. I got onto my legs while gripping the couch in a death grip. I let go of the couch and my legs gave out. I fell to my hands and knees panting. Michael and Eve got me back on the couch. I was in the most amount of pain I've ever been in. I wouldn't give in, though; I had to see my baby.
At first Michael and Eve refused to let me go saying I was still to week. I wouldn't give up though and finally after ten minutes of arguing Michael picked me up and took me to my room upstairs.
Shane's POV
I was upstairs in Claire's room with Emma. I was only partly here because I didn't want Emma to wake Claire. Mostly I was here because I couldn't stand to see Claire so week. She was pale like as pale as Michael. Her eyes had dark bruise like circles under them. I knew I was being a coward. Claire needed me and I wasn't there for her. I'm glad I can be here for, Emma, though. Emma is adorable. Ever since I brought her up here we've been taking it easy. Her head is still banged up a bit but she seems better. I made her stay in the bed. She's slept some and we played. Currently I'm reading her a story.
"In the kingdom of Morganville many different things roamed around. There were princesses and princesses, queens and kings, and also vampires. The vampires didn't get along to well with the humans or sunlight. The king of the humans met with the queen of the vampires to discuss their living situation. The vampire queen and human king talked and happily agreed that the humans can walk peacefully in the daylight but right when the sun goes down the vampires and have fun in the nightlife. After that agreement the vampires and humans lived in peace, mostly," I finished. Emma had been listening this whole time and now she had her hand raised hesitantly to ask a question. "Why are you raising your hand Emma? You can ask me whatever whenever.
"Is this story about mamma was telling me earlier?" Emma asked.
"Yes it is, Emma," I explained.
"She wasn't making fun of me?" Emma asked.
"No, she would never make fun of you. Why did you think she did?" I asked.
"Not-daddy always made fun of me. He said I was a, hmm what word was it, failor because I was a girl," Emma explained.
Connor's not only an asshole but also a monster. How could he hate and judge someone by their gender?
"Well that was wrong of him. Nobody in this house would ever make fun of you because you're a girl," I said in a reassuring tone.
"Okie, ooh can we play ring-around-a-rosy," Emma asked in her sweet little kid voice.
"I don't think we should," I said. She pouted and stuck her bottom lip out in disappointment.
Just then the door opened and in walked Michael carrying Claire. Claire was still horribly pale but she now had a little color in her cheeks.
"Momma!" Emma squealed, jumping off the bed and running to Mickey and Claire.
"Hi baby," Claire said while wiggling in Michael's arms. He set her down and left the room while she hobbled the few steps to her bed. She collapsed right when she was at the edge and fell back onto the comfiture. Emma, then, noticing Claire's on the bed tries to jump onto it but she's too short. I grab her from her waist and pull her up.
"Momma are woo okie?" Emma asked in her sweet baby voice.
"Yes sweetie, I'm okay," Claire croaked.
"Momma why are sounding like a froggy?"
"I just need some water baby." Claire reassured.
"Momma can we play rosy, Mr. Shane doesn't want me to," Emma asked.
"No, sorry sweetie, momma is too tired."
Claire yawned and Emma kept blinking sleep from her eyes so I picked up Claire and gently placed her under the covers. Next I did the same with Emma. Once both my girls were tucked in I slipped off my shoes and climbed in on the other side of Emma. I turned off the light and fell asleep next to the love of my life and her adorable daughter.
A/N Hey guys sorry for making you wait so long school really took over my life, that and the play I was in. Btw I am a girl and don't agree with anything Connor thinks I just had to show what kind of a monster he is. Thanks for reading and please, please, review to tell me you thoughts. Thanks guys.
