Claire's POV
Why the hell was my baby home? Did Shane come and get her? Why would he? If he did why did her teacher call me?
"Mike, can I leave early? Emma isn't doing well today and I need to see what's up," I asked my boss. He loves Emma, everyone does. Some days the students ask me to bring her so they can spoil her more.
"Yeah Claire go ahead. Tell Emma I hope she feels better," Mike said.
"I'll tell her thanks." I went to the office and grabbed all my stuff. I didn't take my car today so I had a long walk ahead. The high school, were I worked at a student teacher in physics, was all the way on the other side of Morganville. I walked through the blazing heat while contemplating calling the only cab service here or Eve. I didn't want to disturb anyone but the heat was awful today. (An I'm from Texas I know how bad the heat is) I was just passing Common Grounds when I saw Eve's black hurse pull up.
"Do you want a ride CB?" Eve asked.
"I'd love one. It's unseasonably warm today," I said. It was February. Emma had started school after Valentines break. I climbed into Eve's car and we headed home.
"CB, why are you skipping teaching time with the professor?"
"Something's wrong with Emma and she's back home already," I explained nervously.
When Eve pulled up I ran out of the car. I got to the door and turned my key in the lock and the door opened.
Emma's POV
I heard the door open which meant two things, either momma was home or auntie was.
"Shane I need an explanation!" Momma screamed.
"Momma you home!" I squealed. I was about to hop off the couch when daddy put his hand on my arm and looked at my leg. I understood. I've learned not to stand on something that hurts.
"Baby why are you out of school?" Momma asked.
"They were mean momma," I cried. Momma came into the room and sat down next to daddy and me.
"Who were mean, baby?" momma asked.
"The people who hurt me," I whimpered.
"What!" momma yelled.
"They pushed me off the monkey bars. When I fell they kicked me. They even stood on me," I turned my head into daddy's shoulder and cried.
"How the hell did Mrs. Winegarden not stop this?" momma yelled/asked.
"She didn't care. The vampire kids parents bought her off," daddy growled.
"They are vampire kids at Emmy's school?" Uncie Michael asked.
"They don't like me. They kicked me a lot. Then they showed me there big mean teeth," I whimpered. I reached for Uncie Michael and he picked me up and put me in his lap. Auntie Eve sat next to us on the arm of his favorite chair. Uncie Michael was a big strong vampire. I know momma, daddy, and Auntie would try to protect me from the vampires but Uncie was a vampire and could take any vampire kid coming his way. "I'm scared."
"Don't worry, Emmy, we won't let anyone hurt you," Auntie said.
"Shane, we need to talk in private," momma said, "can you guys watch Emma for a bit? Don't let her walk around okay."
"Are momma and daddy fighting?" I cried.
"No sweetheart. They are just trying to figure out what to do about all this," Auntie soothed.
"But it my fault. That guy I used to live with always told me to say yes even if I don't want to," I cried.
"Emma, if you don't want something it's okay to say no. Never say yes if that's not what you mean," Uncie said sternly.
"Why uncie? I thought it was better to give people what they want," I said confused.
"People take advantage of you if you always say yes," Auntie said.
"I want phente," I cried. Phente was my favorite stuffed elephant in my room. I couldn't go get him because my leg hurt to much.
"I'll go get him," uncie said.
Auntie pulled me onto her lap so uncie could go get phente. "Do you want hot chocolate?" Auntie asked. I quickly nodded. Auntie carried me to the kitchen and made me hot chocolate.
Hey guys sorry for the weird ending but I had a new idea and I wanted to so I can post this and start working on it thanks guys.
