Emma's POV

Momma and daddy were making me go to school. Nobody wanted me to but it was the only school here and nobody else could teach me. Auntie once again helped me get dressed. Today, though, she picked out what she would call a 'bitch slapping outfit'. I was wearing black leggings, a red and black short sleeve Black Veil Brides tee, one of there and my favorite bands, and combat boots. Everyone took me to school today. I'm really scared so they all decided to be there for moral support. I rode on Uncie Mikey's shoulders. I was holding on real tight so I didn't fall. I also really didn't want to let go because I didn't want to get hurt.

We got to the school and I hid my face in Uncie Mikey's hair. I already saw some of the vampire kids. I had tears streaming down my rosy red cheeks. Daddy took me from Uncie Mikey and held me close to him. I was clinging to my daddy. These people reminded me of mean ex daddy, which is terrifying. Uncie Mikey came and stood by daddy while humming a song called Saviour by BVB to me. I sniffled and wiped my tears. I rested my head on daddy's chest and looked around the room. I saw all the mean people from yesterday and some others. One person stood out though. He looked really sad. He had blonde hair, like Uncie Mikey's and brown eyes like Auntie Eve. He actually looked like there kid. I waved to him and he waved to me. I squirmed around in daddy's arms until he looked at me.

"Can woo put me down?" I asked. I pouted. This little dude looked lonely and I wanted to be his friend. Daddy put my down and I ran over to him. "Hi I'm Emma, what's your name?"

"Hi my name's Kayden," he answered.

"How old are you?" I asked.

"Five, you," I held up four fingers and we started talking more. His favorite superhero is Batman, like mine. We started playing action figures and then we played superheros.

It was recess and we were still playing superheros and it was his turn being the damsel in distress. He was at the other end of the dreaded monkey bars 'tied up' with a 'train' running to kill him. I swung myself through the bars until I saw those vampire kids. I dropped to the ground and ran as fast as I could to Kayden. He got up and ran to me with incredible speed and stood in front of me. The vampire kids stopped in front of us. I was having a minor panic attack. "What do you want?" Kayden asked almost growled.

"Her. She is Shane Collins' daughter. My uncle Oliver wants her. So hand her over," the lead one proclaimed. I'm not proud to say I cowered.

"Don't come anywhere near us. Tell your uncle that he can't always get what he wants," Kayden growled.

"I'm not going to do that. My uncle always gets what he wants when he wants it. So hand her over before I have to take her from you!" Braydon yelled. I started crying and clutched Kayden's shirt in my hands.

"You'll have to go through me before you'll even be able to touch her," Kayden growled. That's when the fight broke out. Braydon dove for Kayden and I had just enough time to get out of the way before I was crushed. Braydon's friends headed for me so I got my fists up and started fighting back. I punched the first one in the nose and then grabbed his fist that was heading towards me and twisted him around and kneed him in the back. He fell in a heap and I had just enough time to do a back handspring, yes I am in gymnastics, before another guy could get me. Sadly, the third one was right behind me and he punched me in the spine. I crumpled to the floor while gasping for air. I weakly turned my head and saw Kayden kick Braydon in the head before running over to me. He started kicking me in the ribs, not Kayden that other guy. I heard multiple cracks and I started crying. It was even harder to breath and I think he cracked my ribs. I screamed hoarsely and Kayden tackled him.

"Don't…punch…you…kick…ever…punch…touch…smack…her…kick…again," Kayden threatened. Kayden flashed his own fangs and I whimpered in fear.

"Don't worry Emma I won't hurt you. I need to pick you up though so I can take you to the nurse's office, okay?" he asked. I nodded a short jerk of my head and he picked me up bridal style. I hissed in pain and was surprised he was able to carry me. I guess it's because he's a vampire. He raced us to the nurse using super vampire speed. I held on as tight as I could without causing more unneeded pain.

"Oh my heavens, what happened to her," the nurse gasped.

"Some kids beat her up," Kayden explained. "We think they broke her ribs." Kayden set me on the bed and the nurse started poking me. I cried in pain when she touched anywhere near my ribs.

"I am going to have to call your parents and inform them you'll be at the hospital." She stated.

"Can I come with her?" Kayden asked. We both looked at the nurse with hopeful eyes and she nodded.

She called 911 and then called my house. I heard Auntie Eve pick up and start freaking out. I giggled then started gasping for air. It really really hurt. I heard sirens coming closer and closer. I held me sides because they really hurt and the door burst open. The EMTs strapped me to a body board then put me onto the stretcher. The wheeled me inside the back of the ambulance. If you are wondering how I know what all of these things are called it's because this isn't my first time in an ambulance.

When we got to the hospital they took me to a room in the ER and started poking me like the nurse did. I screamed and cried again. I heard a loud noise outside my room that sounded like daddy. I screamed for him with tear rushing down my face and within the next second daddy was by my side. Uncie Mikey came in only a second later. Kayden was sitting in a chair on the other side of the room. Daddy held my little hand in his big one. They put an IV in my arm with pain killers and then started wrapping my ribs. They placed an ice pack on my head because when I fell I hit my head. They also cleaned up some cuts I got from falling in the mulch. Daddy was stroking my arm and Uncie Mikey was petting my head. Kayden looked pretty awkward just standing there but there was nothing I could do to help him until they were done. I watch as momma and Auntie Eve came in. Momma shot straight over to me but Auntie Eve went over to Kayden. I was really happy that someone else took notice in him. Momma stood next to daddy and held my hand tightly. Auntie Eve was talking to Kayden and then went over and started talking to Uncie Mikey. My eyes started fluttering shut and I gave into the drug induced sleep.
