Chapter 8: You Get a Mega! You Get a Mega! Everybody Gets a Mega! Pt. 2
Previously, on Dragonball Z:
George: In all my years of research, I've never seen a virus spread so quickly...
Chase: Hey! Freeze! NYPD!
Rain: What do you mean, "cut the red wire?" They're all red wires!
Carburn: You want my badge number? HERE! HERE'S MY FUCKING BADGE NUMBER! *hits perp with his badge*
Catie: I can't lose this case!
Kurt: Catie, the case is already over.
Brendon: *sobbing in shock over Wally's beaten body* Who did this to you?!
George: My God... Steven needs us to go into the caves!
*que opening song*
Rain and I walked to the Poké Center to find Chase and Carburn. Espurr had found a new favorite place to nap; the pocket of Rain's hoodie. Furret was around her neck like a scarf, and Eevee was on my shoulder. Chase and Carburn were in a corner by a trash can. He really doesn't take well to water, does he? I thought.
"Still puking? You're really not a sailor, are you, Chase?" Rain asked. Chase just shook his head quickly, before resuming the torrent of sickness.
"C'mon, bro, shake it off! I wanna take on the gym!" Burns whined.
"Relax, Burns. Rain and I'll take care of Chase. You go challenge Brawly. Lead with Pumpkaboo, he uses Fighting types," I said. He was gone before Chase could say 'HUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUGH!' Again.
It took Chase a good hour to stop puking. We just decided to have Burns meet us at the entrance to Granite Cave. Too bad. I wanted to watch him battle.
'Woulda been fun to beat Brawly ourself, too...'
When I want your commentary, I'll ask for it.
"George, you okay, bro?" Chase asked
"Huh? Yeah, I'm fine. Just thinking to myself," I replied.
"Good, 'cause you've been staring at the cave for a while. Rain and I thought you might've gone kaput."
I looked at the cave's entrance, and smiled. "Just nostalgia, I guess..."
"Hey! Guess what I got, you guys!" Burns ran up to us, yelling excitedly. "I'll give you a hint: you guys probably thought I couldn't!"
"A mega evolving Pokémon?"
"A '72 Chevelle?"
"Laid?"
Chase and I both looked at Rain, exclaiming "Woah!"
"No, no, and hurtful. I got the Knuckle Badge!" Carburn held up Dewford's gym badge, new and shiny from Brawly himself.
"Way to go, Clyden!"
"Called it."
"That was my second guess."
Carburn did a mock laugh at Rain's remark. "Let's go, already," he said, walking into the cave. We followed him, knowing Steven would be at the newly discovered cave paintings, which had been buried for centuries.
No sooner had we walked in than two small shadows zoomed past.
"My Mega Bangle! It's gone!" Rain exclaimed.
"Mine, too," Burns chipped in.
"So's mine!" Said Chase frustratedly. I looked to where the shadows went, showing a small groove in the wall. I snuck up to the groove and found a small, armor-clad Pokémon eating the metal of the bracelets, and a small goblin-like Pokémon with gems for eyes standing over the key stones. An Aron and a Sableye.
"I found the culprits," I stated, reaching for the Pokémon. They both jumped pat me, but were soon trapped in battle with Carburn and Rain.
"Go! Poochyena!"
"Espurr, go!" Sableye started laughing at Espurr.
"Myah?"
"Espurr's attacks won't be effective on Sableye!"
Rain smirked. "Espurr, Dark Pulse!"
"MyyyyyyAH!" Espurr unleashed a stream of dark energy at Sableye. Unable to move from surprise, Sableye was hit directly by Espurr's Dark Pulse and hit the wall.
Rain pulled out a Pokéball and threw it at Sableye. The Pokémon was sucked into the ball, and it hit the ground. It shook once... Twice... Three times... Click! Sableye was Rain's
"YES! HAHA! I CAUGHT A SABLEYE!" She screamed in delight.
"Myah myah, myah!" Espurr added. I pulled out my Pokédex and scanned him quick.
Espurr. Lvl. 13. Moves: Scratch, Barrier, Confusion, Dark Pulse.
"Well, that was unexpected," I said. Rain smirked smugly.
"SON OF A BITCH!" yelled Carburn as the Aron dug a hole and escaped. I picked up the key stones and a scrap of metal from the ground.
"It's alright, Burns. There's Aron all over the place. You'll find another," I said.
"They ruined our Mega Bangles! What do we do now?!" I thought for a moment. Then I had an idea. I let Charizard out and started heating the metal, holding it in a pair of pliers from my bag.
"Burns, Chase, check your bags for anything I can use." They both dug around in their bags for a bit.
"I got a pair of goggles," Burns stated, pulling out a pair of goggles with perfectly circular lenses and framed with bronze-like metal, like you'd see in steampunk stuff.
"I got an old belt buckle that's beat to hell," Chase said, holding up a scratched and dented belt buckle.
"Perfect. Hand 'em over." They did so reluctantly, as I twisted and shaped the scrap metal. I set a key stone in the twisted ring, and poured a bottle of water on it. I had Charizard hold it while I set to work on the other two items. It took about fifteen minutes, but I reworked Chase's belt buckle and Carburn's goggles, fitting them with key stones.
"So... What're you doing?" Chase asked.
I smiled. "May I present..." I said. "The Mega Goggles and the Mega Buckle!"
"What about mine?" Rain asked. I handed her the newly made Mega Bracelet. She smiled and put it on. "Nice..."
We headed to the cavern, with Carburn spewing profanities the entire time. Sunni came out of her Pokéball to sit on my head. Rain let Sableye and Frosslass out of their Pokéballs to introduce the team, and to let Frosslass stretch her legs. I was impressed at Rain's physical strength. She had Furret draped over her shoulders and snoring, Espurr standing on her right shoulder and Sableye on her left. And she was completely unphased by the extra weight.
"How fucking much further? I wanna get out of this God forsaken cave as fucking fast as fucking possible!" Carburn yelled.
"Just down these stairs," I said, leading them towards the chamber. We walked through the doorway, and saw the enormous wall paintings. "Woah... That's... New."
"Hm? Ah! George! Good to see you again!" Steven said. We walked over to him, and he turned back to the wall. "I'm sure you know what this wall painting refers to?"
"Of course," I said. "'Thousands of years ago, two great beings arose, and forged the world. From Groudon, the land came to be.'"
"'And from Kyogre, oceans came to be. But the two could not coexist as people and Pokémon did. The two clashed, causing many great disasters.'"
"'The earth quaked. The sea rose. Rain and drought wrestled for dominance, ruining the crops of the people. They suffered for many years.'"
"'One day, Groudon and Kyogre rose again. However, they were changed. They wear more powerful, as if they had the power of the primal world."'
"'Fire and water rained down from the sky. The sea flooded across the land, destroying everything in its path.'"
"'The land split apart, swallowing all that rested on it.'"
"'All would have perished, if not for Rayquaza.' It cuts off there."
"Yes. We believe there are more wall paintings somewhere. But that's not why I asked you here." Steven turned to me and handed me a package.
"What's this?" I asked.
"It's an engine component to a submarine Captain Stern is building," he answered. "I need you all to deliver it. Oh! I also have something for you from your sister." He handed me a golden Pokéball.
"... What did she say to you when she gave it to you?"
"U-Uh... She told me if I didn't give it to you, she'd kill me."
"No she wouldn't've."
"She wouldn't've? What makes you think that?" I looked at him, daggers nearly erupting from my eyes.
"She wouldn't get a chance." Suddenly, there was a digging sound.
"Aron?" The little Pokémon popped out of the ground. Carburn's face lit up.
Once we left the cave and said our goodbyes, Rain, Carburn, Chase and I went back to the ship.
"Where to now, kiddies?" Mr. Briney asked.
"Slateport. We have a package to deliver," I responded.
"Hell yeah! Fun, sun, and babes in bikinis!" Carburn chimed.
"And contests!" Chase said.
"Yan yan!" Yanma added.
"Huh. I never pegged you as a contest nerd, Chase" Rain said. She suddenly smirked like she knew something. "Or are you just a 'fan' of the Contest Spectacular star, Lisia?"
Chase looked at her like she was crazy. "I'm a fan of Ana, the Bug-type user."
"... Oh."
"Guys, can we talk about this later?"
"Yeah! Wait until I have an excuse to not listen!"
Okay, finally got this chapter done! It's gonna be a long time before I can update again, so... See Ya!
