Hey Everyone. I'm back with another chapter. The last of the chapters are going to be updated rather quickly, do I just want to let you know I last updated February 19. If you haven't read chapter 25 yet, read it. Also, I appreciate the reviews. I was planning on something that's a little different, weird even for the end. Something to do with Lizzy's dreaming ability. It was just an idea, but I like it. Bear with me. Anyway, I do not own TMNT, but I do own my OC's. Now, it's time for the beginning of the end…
Lizzy's P.O.V.
Life seemed to move faster once the snow melted away, and as spring changed into early summer, life got more interesting for us. The baseball team was on a winning streak. We were undefeated champs and in two weeks we would be going to the finals. Plus, ever since the incident with Missy, she hasn't bothered us. Cade calmed down with this, with the help of the kickboxing team and Raph (who has also been trying to get hold of his anger too). Katie's doing better since her dad died. It was hard at first, but we helped her out, especially Leo. He was still dancing with Katie and was becoming quite good. It was nice to see him relax with Katie. In a way, she made him better, as did he to Katie. April had joined the newspaper as a reporter, with much convincing. Donnie noticed how good she was at tracking down new Kraang and Foot info, and told her how she would be a good reporter. So eventually we got her to join. The guys and I were and unstoppable crime fighting team. No Kraang, Purple Dragon, or Foot stood a chance when they came across us. But lately the City seemed quieter, which had Leo tenser than usual. Other than that, everything was going well. Mikey was the same old Mikey, which I loved. We still played videogames, pranked the guys and Cade, and just enjoyed each other's company whenever we could. The twins were doing well too. They had just turned 11 in April and had made a lot of new friends, which was awesome. They loved hanging with the guys and us girls, who came over whenever I babysat for them during nighttime hours. That was almost every Friday night, their parents date night. I rarely babysat afterschool anymore though, since they only had to wait half an hour till one of their came home. I still babysat at night though; they were still too young to be alone at that time. Tonight was no different than any other Friday, or so I thought.
It first started when I woke up with a funny feeling, like something was going to happen, something bad. You could feel it in the air, and I knew the others could sense it too. I decided to ignore it and head to school. You could tell summer was here. It was the middle of May, which meant nice weather and shorts. I was happy to dig those out. As I walked down the street with my friends, I could still sense something amiss. That feeling followed me all day. When I came home that day I sat down and did my homework with the girls in the pit as the guys watch TV. Once that was over we joined in on the TV watching by putting in a movie. I didn't have to be over at the twin's house until around 7:30. It was around 6:45 when I got a call. I quickly searched for my phone. It was Mrs. Davis. I wondered what they could be calling me about, since I would be there soon.
"Hello Mrs. Davis, what's up?" I greeted politely.
"Hi Lizzy, we were just wondering, are Maggie and Ben with you?" she asked with a hint of worry in her voice, which made my bad feeling grow.
"Um, no. Are they not at home?" I asked.
"No, they weren't home when we came home. We figured they were with you, but you would have called sooner…" she trailed off.
"Did you call any of their friend's houses?" I asked standing up and moving to the side of the room. Everyone quickly became interested in our conversation.
"No, but we were going to do that after I called you," she told me.
"Alright, I'll go check their school route. Call me if you find them," I replied.
"Same to you Lizzy, and be safe," she said in a motherly tone before hanging up. I hung up on my end and put it back in my sweatshirt pocket. I turned towards the others with a worried expression.
"What's wrong Lizzy?" Mikey asked getting up and coming towards me.
"The twins are missing," I announced everyone looked surprised and stood up. "I'm going to go look on their school route. Mr. and Mrs. Davis are going to call some of their friends' parents."
"Alright, but we're coming to," Cade told me. I smile and nodded.
"And we'll be here waiting. If anything happens, call us," Leo concluded as the guys nodded.
"Okay," I agreed. Us girls quickly gathered our things and made our way out of the lair, through the streets, and up to the surface. We quickly made our way to the middle school and then followed the route Ben and Maggie would take. Luckily they had shown it to me before when I walked them one time. We walked up and down it three times, and we were about to give up when I spotted something. It was in towards the alleyway hidden in the shadows. I noticed it when the clouds moved away from the sun and shined on it for the first time. Quickly, I moved towards the object. I picked it up and revealed it to be one of my turtle bracelets I gave to the twins. My eyes glazed over, but I soon blinked it away. I had to be strong to find them.
"What'd you find?" April asked coming over with the girls.
"It's one of the bracelets I gave to the twins. I gave them each one," I told them.
"So, we know they were here," Katie affirmed. I nodded.
"Come on, let's go to their house," I instructed putting the bracelet in my pocket. They girls followed silently as I led them to the two story brownstone near Brooklyn. Walking up the steppes I opened the door.
"Hello," I said, my voice ringing through the still air. I soon saw Mr. Davis come around the corner. His smile disappeared when he saw we didn't have the twins, but he soon recovered with a small smile.
"No luck?" he asked sadly, worry in his voice too.
"A little. I found one of the bracelets I gave them," I replied stepping into the house with the girls before pulling it out. He took it gently out of my hand a caressed it softly, as if he was trying to sense where they were.
"They never take these off," he murmured softly. Looking back up, he waved at us to follow him into the kitchen. In the kitchen, which was bright yellow and usually cheery, stood an upset mother. Mrs. Davis looked at as we came in. In one hand held the phone, while the other held a list of phone numbers.
"Did you find them?" she asked hopefully. I shook my head sadly. She sighed, set the things down, and put her head into her hands. Mr. Davis moved towards his wife and pulled her into a hug. I looked outside and saw the almost set sun. I glanced at the clock and saw that it was almost eight o'clock. We spent an hour and a half looking.
"Where could they be?" Mrs. Davis cried out. I looked to the girls for ideas, but they just shook their heads. I sighed and turned back to their parents.
"I'm going to go look again. Call for updates," I informed. Just as I was about to leave I heard a loud crash coming from upstairs. It surprised everyone, but soon we raced up the stairs. I thought the sound came from Ben's room, and I was right. When I opened the door I saw a rock with a note tied to it in a pile of shattered glass. Stepping carefully around the glass, I picked up the rock and untied the note before reading it:
We have your children. If you ever wish to see them again, you will tell us the location of Hamato Yoshi and the turtles.
-Shredder
That was all it said. I began to shake as I reread the message over and over.
"No," I whispered so quietly, I was sure nobody heard me.
"No what Lizzy? What does the note say?" Mr. Davis asked coming over towards me. He reached for the note. I let him take it, standing still as he read it aloud.
"Who's The Shredder?" Mrs. Davis asked in a horrified voice. I could feel the girls shift uncomfortably, waiting for me to explain. I couldn't move though. I heard Cade sigh.
"Katie, call Leo and tell him what's going on. April, check on Liz. Mr. and Mrs. Davis, we know who this man is, but we have to call the Hamato's first. They'll know what to do," Cade instructed. I could feel a majority of the group leave the small room. April came over and pulled me into a hug.
"It'll be okay Liz. The guy's will get Maggie and Ben back," April comforted. I barely heard her though. I began remembering a memory from many years ago.
*Flashback*
Five year old Lizzy ran through the orphanage. She had just finished her lunch and was heading to the nursery. Once in there, she looked through the rows of cribs until she found the one she was looking for. She pulled over a small stepstool and stood on it. Looking down into the crib, she saw two big, bright green eyed babies. Both had big mops of brown hair on their head. One wore a pink onesie while the other wore blue. Lizzy smiled and with much effort, moved the crib gate down so she could see them better.
"Hi Maggie, hi Benny," she smiled. The two smiled and reached for the young girl. Lizzy put both her hands down so they could grab them. When they gripped and began to talk in baby language she smiled.
"The big kids were being mean to me again," she confessed to the twins.
"I don't get it. I don't get why they're mean to me. They even got the other kids to call me names too," she continued. The twins talked back in baby talk again, making Lizzy smile.
"Don't worry babies. I'll be okay. Just wait until I get older. I'll grab you to and we'll get out of here. We'll travel the world. My mommy once told me that she lived in Japan. We can go there first," she smiled. The twins smiled and laughed in reply.
"And just remember, no matter what happens I'll always be there for you. I'll always love you, and I'll always protect you," she smiled before leaning down and kissing their heads.
*End of Flashback*
I blinked a few times coming out of my flashback. I looked around and noticed I was back into the kitchen sitting down at the table. April sat to my right, Cade and Katie stood near the window, and Mr. and Mrs. Davis waited in the kitchen.
"You okay Liz? You zoned out for a while," Cade asked. I turned back towards her and nodded slightly.
"Alright. Katie called Leo and the guys are coming over," she informed. Again I gave a silent nod. She turned back towards the window and once again silence filled the room. I kept thinking about my flashback. It came up so suddenly. I was so young; I bet I wasn't thinking anything like this would happen. I once again felt tears build up, but instead of holding them back, I let them fall. I wasn't able to protect them. I promised them I could, but I couldn't even do that. I wrapped my arms around myself and clenched my eyes shut. Five minutes of unbearable silence passed before I heard a knock on the window (which I thought was funny since they usually use the back door). I held my breath as I watched the guys come through the window. Once they were in, they looked towards the adults. I glance at Mr. and Mrs. Davis, who had looked up and now had a look of surprise on their faces. I could see Mrs. Davis about to scream.
"Don't scream please. It's okay, they're the good guys," I pled quickly with a rough voice from my crying. She closed her mouth and nodded. Mr. Davis let go of her and made his way over towards Leo.
"Sorry, it's been a long day. I'm Jack Davis, and this is my wife, Ally," he introduced shaking Leo's hand. Mrs. Davis seemed to calm down coming over and shaking their hands as well.
"We've heard a lot about you. I'm Leo, and these are my brothers, Raph, Donnie, and Mikey," he replied.
"Alright, now that we all know each other, what are we going to do?" Mr. Davis asked.
"I was thinking we take you to our home. That way our father can help us and you'd be safe. Shredder is ruthless, and will do anything. So the sooner we go, the sooner we can save the twins," Leo explained in his leader voice. Mr. Davis move over to his wife and began to debate the subject. It seemed they were okay with it.
"Alright, we'll go. Thank you for helping us," Mrs. Davis smiled.
"We'd do anything for Ben and Maggie," Mikey told them while glancing towards me. I smiled back.
"Okay, girls, we'll meet you at the usual entrance," Leo commanded. We nodded and the boys left through the window. Mrs. Davis grabbed her purse and quickly moved towards the door.
"Let's go," she demanded. We nodded and left the house. Cade and I were in the front while Katie and April were in the back. Mr. and Mrs. Davis walked in the middle. Quickly, we made our way to the manhole. Once there, the boys dropped down and silently moved to sewer lid. The girls hopped in, then the boys. I waited until they were in before turning towards the adults.
"It's not as bad as you may think. The smell isn't that bad right now, and the lair is a lot better, trust me," I smile. They nodded and went down the ladder. I followed after, closing the lid on the way. The group walked in silence. I stayed towards the back. Mikey had managed to make his way back and now walked in step with me. He wrapped his arm around me and kissed my head. I looked up at him with a sad smile and laid my head on his shoulder. We continued walking until we approached the lairs entrance. The smell of incense hit me as I entered. I mentally thanked Master Splinter for trying to make the lair homier for us. Once we entered Master Splinter exited the kitchen and entered the main room.
"Hello, I am Hamato Yoshi," he introduced. I watched Mrs. Davis tense up a little, but relaxed when Mr. Davis introduced himself.
"I made some tea to help relax. If you would follow me to the kitchen, we can discuss a plan to save Margret and Benjamin," Master Splinter suggested. I smiled. He always used full names if possible, except for Cade. I think it's short for something, but she never told me. The group followed him into the kitchen, all except for me and Mikey.
"Mikey... I'm scared," I told him quietly.
"Don't worry Lizzy, we'll save them, and then after we'll have a movie night. Everything will turn out alright, I promise," he told me giving me a hug. Letting go he began towards the kitchen. When he noticed I wasn't following, he turned and looked at me with a questioning glance.
"You coming to the kitchen?" he asked.
"In a minute," I smiled. He nodded and left. Once he was out of sight, I made my way into my bedroom. Once there I dug through my drawers. Pulling out my black leggings and black sweatshirt, I change quickly. I then pull my hair up in my usual high pigtails. I approach my mirror and look at my flection.
"What are you doing?" I ask myself. "You should just wait for the others."
"But if you go now, the less chance they'll get hurt," I respond.
'If I go, the others won't be put in danger. This is my fault; I didn't protect them like I promised. If I wait and go with the others, it will be easier to get through,' I think. After a few more minutes of thinking, I decide to go, even if it risks my life. It's my job to save them. So, pulling my mask off my wrist, I place it on my face. I take one last glance in the mirror before putting on my elbow pads and knee pads. I grab my belt and slip it on. Lastly, I grab my tessen and slip them in their pockets along with my Tphone. I slip out of my bedroom and out towards the entrance. I look back one last time. I could hear everyone discuss a battle plan. Before I can change my mind, I leave the lair. I will save Maggie and Ben. I promised I would keep them safe, and I will not break that promise.
Ben's P.O.V.
It was completely dark when I woke up. My body hurt and I had a pounding headache. Having no clue where I was, I sat up. I blinked a couple of times trying to get my eyes to focus. Then I remembered what had happened to us. Maggie and I were walking home as usual, but then a black van rolled up beside us, grabbed us, and knocked us out. Looking around the room again, I see something lying next to me. I only have one guess who it is.
"Maggie?" I question softly, shaking her a little. She doesn't move.
"Maggie wake up," I say louder, shaking her a little rougher as well. This time I hear her groan slightly.
"Ben?" she wonders sitting up.
"Yeah sis, it's me," I say. She pulls me into a hug. I gladly hug her back. It was nice quiet until she began crying softly.
"Who took us?" she asked with a wobbly voice.
"I don't know, but I have a feeling that it may be ninja related," I say.
"You mean the Foot took us!" she screeched in my ear.
"Shush Mags. Yeah I think so," I replied. She sighed and hugged me tighter.
"It'll be alright. If it is the Foot, the guys are sure to be here soon," I determined. We stayed quiet for a few more minutes until Maggie spoke again.
"I lost the bracelet Lizzy gave us," she confessed.
"Don't worry about that either. She'll forgive you. Plus it's lucky, so maybe she'll find it," I smiled. I felt her nod. In the distance I began to hear footsteps, large ones. They grew louder and louder until they stopped. Someone began to unlock the door. The door creaked open until a large dog mutant stood in its path. Maggie and I squinted our eyes from the sudden light.
"Dogpound," Maggie gasped quietly. I nod my head in reply.
"The kiddies are finally awake. Good, Master Shredder has been waiting to meet you," he chuckled before coming in. He roughly grabbed us and pushed us out of the dark room. In the light I could finally see my sister. Her hair was somewhat messy. Her eyes were still wet from crying. I noticed that on her forehead there was dried blood. This made me angry. Apparently Maggie could tell because she smiled.
"I'm okay," she mouthed. We were pushed again.
"Let's get going," Dogpound growled. We then walked down the long, gray hallway surrounded by foot ninjas. Dogpound walked behind us. My sister and I walked close together. I needed to protect her, and I would. Soon we came up to a pair of large doors. I got nervous when the doors opened. In the back of the room we could see Shredder sitting in his throne. Next to him stood a girl, my guess was that she was Karai. On the other side of him stood Fishface. I glared as Dogpound pushed us forward until we were about three feet from the bottom steps.
"Here are the kids you asked for Master Shredder," Dogpound told him bowing.
"Thank you Bradford. So," he began direction his attention towards us. "These are the two children who have been spending so much time with the turtles. Maybe you two will know where they dwell." We shook our heads. Truly, we'd only been to the lair once.
"How sad. No matter, once they arrive I'll torture them until they tell me where the lair is. Then I will have my revenge," he laughed.
"I doubt that tin-head," I replied. His eyes narrowed at me.
"You dare talk to me that way child," he yelled standing up and walking down the steps. Maggie whimpered softly. I pushed her behind me and she gripped my arm.
"Yeah, I do dare," I yelled back. He stopped in front of me. It was quiet for a minute before he took his gauntlet and let the blades slide out. He held them before looking back towards me.
"I suggest you change your attitude," he replied waving the gauntlet blades in front of me. I sighed and nodded. If it were just me I would have told him otherwise, but with Maggie here I didn't want to risk anything.
"Good, now -" he began, but was interrupted by a tremendous amount of fighting coming from the other side of the door.
"Looks like the turtles finally here," he chuckled darkly. The fighting became louder, but then it quieted down. There was a moment of silence until the doors came swinging open. A figure slowly walking in, but it was soon recognizable. It was Lizzy. Maggie and I smiled.
"Shredder, give me back my twins," she yelled in a voice I didn't recognize. It was rougher than the usual happy voice. Almost like the voice she uses to yell at us.
"Hello Elizabeth, I am glad you finally made it. Though, I do not see the turtles. That is quite a shame. Oh well, you will have to do," he replied darkly. Karai finally moved from her spot and ran towards Lizzy, but she was ready for her. That is when the fight began.
Alright everyone, another chapter is done. I hope you liked it. Review Please! I really appreciate all the comments. Bye!
