The cavern had a light tone of colours; shades of green covered the land and mushroom trees sprouted from all sides, small and big.
Houses popped out here and there, families began to appear, frozen in an incomplete action; walking, running, speaking and drinking.
A few pet slug hounds appeared around there, various slug appeared as well, Flaringos, Tormatos, and Rammstones…
Suddenly, everything burst into life, people began chatting and children began to play, slugs chirped and the hounds followed their owners, hunters or not.
There were bars and hotels, mechanics and medics, all type of people lived in these industrial caverns, of all professions.
In an ally, there were a few people leaning on the wall with their heads hung low, their bodies hidden by the shadows of the buildings.
But at the far end, there were three cloaked slingers, their eyes glowed red in the shadows.
Eli and the Shadow Clan leader were on top of the building, watching these strangers; both of them were transparent like, Eli with a light blue glow, and the Leader with a green glow.
"Who are they?" Asked the Shane, he pointed towards the glowing red eyed people.
"Red represents passion and love, but it also represents blood and vengeance..." murmured the creature.
"That… what does that have to do with them?"
"Watch young Shane; learn to watch and to listen." The Clan Leader hissed quietly.
Eli huffed and stayed quiet as he gazed down into the ally; the strangers of red eyes were actually observing a young man duel with a robber, who had stolen a good amount of money.
"He could just be another one of them," said the tallest of the red eyed people.
"Or he he can be not," said the other. "We can check now, or later."
The shorter one looked at them both. "Later. Then we'll have enough proof to see if he is worthy or not."
The strangers walked out of the ally and walked close by the slinger who stopped the robber. The gold coins were held in a bag in his hand and he returned it to the mayor.
"What do they mean by 'worthy'?" Eli asked looking at the Shadow Clan creature.
"They, they are the ones who create the Well is Souls.…" he whispered so quietly that Eli barely heard him. "The Soul Keepers."
"The Soul Keepers…" Eli whispered in awe.
.
.
"I've got a bad feeling, bro." Kord said as he and Pronto sat on their mecha as just outside Shadow Clan territory. "He's been gone too long."
Pronto turned his head to the cave troll. "Calm down my troll friend, Eli should be fine. Why, even Pronto can survive what he's now living!" He said.
"Pronto, today is about to end… Trixie is running out of time." Kord said as he rubbed his forehead, stressed.
Pronto's face saddened. "Pronto cares for Trixie as much as you do Kord, but Eli knows what he is doing. He trusts in the Shadow Clan, but Pronto is still wary around them." He said as he stared into the dark cavern. "Pronto knows Eli knows best..." he mumbled.
Back inside Shadow Clan Territory...
"The Soul Keepers had good intentions time ago, but now... they just break their code..." the Shadow Clan leader hissed, his tail swished from side to side.
Both he and Eli were sitting on a store's roof, watching the soon to be Soul Keepers enter a house not far from where they were. "What happened to them?" the Shane asked curiously.
The cloaked slingers took of their garments, they were just normal people with strange red eyes. They sat on their couch and began to meditate, one of them read a book... everything looked like normal.
"Well, it all started with heroes becoming selfish and unkind, they became heroes to gain fame and money, nothing else..." The Shadow Clan leader mumbled. "They 'disposed' of the people and stayed with their souls to torture it for eternity..."
Eli wiped his head towards the creature, "You've got to be kidding? Hehe... You're kidding, right?" he asked nervously.
"Of course I am..." the leader replied somewhat sarcastically. "Those 'heroes' were punished for what they did, it wasn't forever, but some have stayed there trapped in the Well..."
Eli gulped. "And... what happen to those who are actually good people?" he asked, but he soon regretted that question, for the Shadow Clan leader seemed to shrink.
A moment passed before he replied; "There has never been such case. They found all guilty..."
Eli's eyes flung open. "No..."
And that's when there was an explosion up in the north of the cavern.
