It's Not My Time

Nico didn't bow down to death and its glory,
And refused to let it take him that easily.
His will was strong,
And he wanted to fight.
But didn't know how to save his life.

Scars ran deep;
His eyes watching the blood seep
Through cracks in the ground,
Grimacing at the sound.
It was one fight,
Just like the rest.
He had tried with all his might,
And gave it his best.
But that wasn't enough,
It never truly was.
And now he was dying,
Dying because
No one could save him.

It wasn't his time,
He wasn't supposed to die yet.
The bells weren't supposed to chime,
The choir not supposed to sing.
But he knew it was the end,
No matter how short of a life.
It was his turn to ascend,
Out of the never-ending strife.
