AUGH I'M SO SORRY
I know I said I'd try to keep up with this story but it's one year later and aughh I've failed you all. BUT, I recently got back into the ROTG fandom, and I'm back to give a second shot at this story ok? Ok, good.
Ace
Oh god, oh god what have I done?
I paced back and forth nervously, trying to decide what I should do with this poor kid I just shot down. I didn't mean to, I swear, but he had been tailing me for the past few hours, so I panicked and shot him down with lightning.
Natural reaction right? Right?
Finally, I got up the courage to see if the poor bastard was still alive, and got down on my knees to get a better look at him.
Huh, he was... quite handsome. That was a pleasant surprise. The boy looked to be about my age, maybe a year or two younger, he was skinny, had some shockingly white hair, and the palest skin I'd ever seen. As I looked him up and down I noticed he had no shoes, and for some reason this surprised me most.
"No shoes huh?" I muttered" Do you not get cold, kid?"
"Nah, not real-" OH SHIT HE LIVES.
"AUGH!" I shrieked, and on instinct hit him in the face.
"Ow! Jeez, first the lightning, now you're hitting me? Haven't you injured me enough today?" the boy asked, standing up while rubbing his jaw where I punched him good. I scoffed and wiped the dirt off my pants.
"I could just take you and smack you around for a bit, if that answers your question. Now, who are you and what the fuck do you want? I'm busy."
"You're Acenath, right? The storm girl?"
"Yes?"
The boy straightened up and picked his wooden staff off the ground, obviously trying to look official.
"I'm Jack Frost, you know, winter, snow days, Guardian of Fun, maybe you heard of me?" he smiled, his icy blue eyes shining.
Pff, not impressed.
"Yeah, I've heard of you," I said " Mostly of how big a pain in the ass you are to the rest of the guardians, I'm friends with Toothiana and she's told me maaaaaany stories about you, so don't try to pull anything over on me, boy. I know your game."
Jack's face fell from cocky to annoyed in .2 seconds.
"She warned me about you too," he said, then muttered something under his breath that sounded suspiciously like 'nice, my ass' before continuing," anyway, I was sent to bring you to the north pole."
Wait what.
"Woah, there friend you might need to slow down. Why?" Jack bit his lip.
"Uh, it'd be easier to explain over there, it's nothing bad!" he said suddenly, probably because of the look on my face,"We just need you... You coming?"
Jack looked me in the eyes again, only this time he'd dropped that cocky facade he'd had on before, so I felt a bit more at ease. I'd learned to be careful around people who could see me, especially men, but for some reason I could see in Jack's eyes that he meant no ill towards me. Call it women's intuition or whatever, but for now I was going to trust him. Besides, I could easily kick his ass anyway.
I nodded, and with that Jack took a snowglobe out of his pocket and tossed it, creating a portal to what I recognized as Santoff Claussen.
"Well... that happened." I laughed nervously. Did he really expect me to go through that thing? What if it closed or split me in half? Hell no I wasn't-
"Yep! Now, ladies first." he pushed me before I could protest and I fell through.
I caught a glimpse of the rest of the guardians and their confused ass faces before tripping over a damn elf and landing flat on my back. Well, better that than having half of me in Seattle.
"Ah, wonderful! She's here!" North said, grabbing me with both hands and setting me on my feet like I was a ragdoll," good job, Jack. You didn't even have to use the sack!"
Before I could ask about "the sack" I was tackled by a mess of bright feathers and fairies and wrapped in a tight hug.
"Ace! I'm so happy to see you!" Tooth said, smiling. I smiled back and hugged her.
"I know," I said," it's been way too long, I'm so sorry-"
"No no no no you have a job to do and it's important, now shh-" aaaaand she had her hands in my mouth. Of course.
"Can you not do that for like, one day?" a different voice asked.
"Oh I 'o tha' ac'ent!" I tried to say, but it's hard when little fairy hands are checking your molars.
"Nuh-uh, no talking!" Tooth said.
"Tooth, come on, let the girl speak." Jack said, chuckling.
"Oh, alright," she finally let me go," good job on keeping your teeth clean, but try to floss more, and maybe you'll have as nice teeth as Jack's."
I shot Jack a surprised look while he smiled at us, for Tooth to have no suggestions on how to improve your dental hygiene was a huge deal, and to be fair his smile WAS pretty special-
Woah, no, scratch that.
"How you doing, Bunny?" I asked, trying to distract myself from the glowing white sex in the blue hoodie.
"Eh, better." he muttered.
"Tail grew back in alright?" I snickered as he gave me a wide eyed look of panic.
"You said you wouldn't mention that!"
"Oh man, I have GOT to hear this." Jack said, floating in looking like Christmas came early. I smiled.
"Ok, well one year in-" I was interrupted by a bunch of golden sand being dumped on my head. Sandy! He's so quiet I nearly forgot him. I shook some of it out of my hair and coughed," sorry Sandy." man that sand sure gets in uncomfortable places...
Sandy gave me a brief smile and a nod but pointed at North, who was standing by a few elves looking like he had something important to say.
"Yes, now that introductions are done " he began" we can get down to business. Ace, the Man in the Moon has spoken, and congratulations, YOU ARE A GUARDIAN! MUSIC!"
...
"MUSIC! MUSIC- come on now I told you to play music!" I watched dumbly as one of the little elves tossed his trumpet at North's head and stormed off.
"Told ya the music is a dumb idea." Bunny interjected.
"It is not! It's tradition!..."
I zoned out of the argument between Bunny and North, my head was spinning. A guardian. A GUARDIAN? No no no this had to be a joke. Please let this be a joke. I could feel the panic rising in my chest as I looked at Tooth and Jack for an explanation, but none came.
"Ace, are you ok?" Tooth asked.
"I-I-" I couldn't speak, the room was too hot, everyone's voices were suddenly too loud and the colors were too bright and I had to get out-
Without a word I spread my long, black wings out into the room, knocking a few important looking items over and getting everyone's attention.
"I!... BYE!" I screamed, then jumped onto North's desk and with a powerful flap of my wings promptly exited the premises.
