Ivy's POV
Ivy sat up quickly and looked through bleary eyes at Jordan on the floor beneath a huge, black sword. The wielder was shrouded by the dark cloak they wore, marked by the coiled snake that signified the Black Cobras. "You're coming with me! All of you." She shouted, her gaze traveling to Ivy and Zynch. Where do I know that voice from? Ivy thought to herself. Ivy blinked. In that split second, she found Zynch on the floor, clutching his arm. He was paralyzed. A small dagger was in the hand of the perpetrator as they spoke, "That was a warning. The next time you try something like that, you'll have a lot more than a mere cut on the arm." "Who are you and what do you want from us?" Ivy asked calmly, keeping the many emotions she had burning inside at bay. "That's none of your concern." The player replied. "It's not like you can kill us. We're in a safe zone. So you might as well drop the sword." She said, in an attempt to free Jordan at least. "Do you really want to test that statement?" Ivy's blood ran cold. What does she mean by that? She concentrated hard to maintain her cool. I can't show weakness right now." Zynch was paralyzed on the floor and Jordan had a sword in her face. Ivy moved her index finger in front of her, and equipped her sword. It was a silver katana. Ivy closed her inventory, but not the menu. She took a deep breath, her finger over the duel button. The button was pressed, and the screen appeared in front of the player at the door. "Let's take this outside, shall we." Their voice full of confidence as they walked outside. Ivy started to follow, but Jordan grabbed her arm. "Don't do this!" she pleaded. Ivy look down to see Jordan with concern in her eyes. "Don't worry. I won't lose." Ivy promised. Jordan let go of her arm. As Ivy walked out of the room a pair of voices wishing her good luck followed her.
Ivy and the person in the cloak walked to the center of the town. The NPC's gave them space and a large clearing was left in between the two opponents. The figure cast off their cloak, a wind picked it up and it was gone. The player Ivy was facing was a girl. An ID appeared above the girl's lavender hair that read "Ty." Ty unsheathed her one-handed sword. The blade was black iron with a gold handle. A glistening red jewel was embedded into the handle. A small silver shield was held in her other hand. Ivy stood on the opposite of the clearing from Ty, both hands on her katana, ready to strike. The duel was to the death. She turned her head to see Zynch and Jordan watching from the side. Zynch nodded her head at her, his expression unreadable. Jordan looked her dead in the eyes. And mouthed "Good luck." I have to win this. For my life, and the lives of my friends. Ty hit the accept button on the duel request. A timer began counting down. 10…9…8…7… Beads of sweat began forming at the top of Ivy's forehead as the suspense grew. 6…5…4… Ty didn't look worried at all. 3…2…1… The timer hit zero. Ivy flew at Ty with all her might, screaming a battle cry. A loud clang sounded as sword clashed against sword. Sparks flew as Ty effortlessly blocked Ivy's strikes. They broke apart for a moment, Ivy was panting hard. She hasn't broken a sweat! Slowly, Ty advanced with a huge grin on her face. Ivy stood tall. Her katana began to glow purple. Ivy began slashing at the air. The slashes fired purple marks at Ty, each one stronger than the next. But Ty kept coming. Black cut through the purple auras that came flying at her. Ty's sword began to glow black. Fear began to grip her heart. Ty aimed her glowing sword at Ivy. A long black beam shot from it. She watched as Ivy's eyes grew wide with terror. A loud chink noise was heard and a glint of silver flew into the air as the dark aura hit. A scream echoed through the town as Ivy was thrown backwards into a food stand. Dust flew up into the air, surrounding the area. Ty walked confidently into the cloud. The hilt of her katana remained in Ivy's hand. The sound of sword piercing skin sounded.
Jordan's POV
"No!" Jordan screamed. She tried to run to the stand. Zynch held her back. "We need to go, now!" He began dragging her away from the scene. Jordan struggled against him. "No! We need to go help Ivy!" She sounded hysterical. "It's too late!" he retorted sharply. "She's still alive! We have to save her!" Zynch shook his head. "She's sacrificing herself so we can get away! Do you want her sacrifice to be for nothing?!" He yelled at her. Jordan broke down into tears and stopped resisting. He walked her over to the teleportation gate. A huge "Congratulations" sign appeared in the sky above the clearing. Blue shards drifted into the sky. A gust of wind tugged at Jordan's hair and with it came the words, "I'm sorry."
