-Jordan's POV-

Why?

It was all Jordan could hear. All she could tell herself. Floor 23 was gloomy, as if to match the sorrow in her heart. Her clouded gaze never moved from the ground as she trudged along behind the other two. The tears had all but gone.

-Flashback-

Jordan sat in the shady corner of the buildings during lunch time when everyone else would play. The school yard was large, with a large field of grass at the far end and the asphalt ball courts between it and the buildings. Everywhere she could see, there were other kids. Laughing, having fun with each other. It taunted her. Jordan curled tighter into the ball she was in, shutting out the noises of the playground.

-End Flashback-

Jordan never had any friends, especially never anyone as close as Ivy had been. She sacrificed her life to save us. The thought only made the pain worse. Jordan knew she could never be that person. She would always be the shy little girl she always had been. Alone and afraid. Lost in her dark thoughts, Jordan bumped into Zynch, not noticing that he had stopped.

-Zynch's POV-

Zynch didn't turn to look, he was busy staring in awe at the glistening silver castle in front of him. The tops of the towers pierced the ominous weather. The building would've been the perfect stereotypical gothic castle if it weren't for it being made of actual pure silver. Zynch wandered in, but stopped when he realized Jordan was still hanging at the doorway. He headed back to retrieve her. He opened his mouth to speak, but decided that it wasn't safe enough to stand around in the main lobby of the floor's largest inn. Zynch paid for a room and lead Jordan to their temporary room.

-Jordan's POV-

"Look." He said softly. "I know you're upset with me."

She stayed silent.

"Please. Could you at least talk to me?" he pleaded.

More silence.

"Please. I want to help you because I'm you're friend! I know it hurts to have lost someone. I'm upset too, but we need to communicate! Ivy gave her life so we could live, but mourning her loss isn't helping anyone!"

Jordan snapped.

"Why are you still friends with me?!" she shouted, standing up with tears in her eyes.

"All I am is trouble! I can't hold my own. I'm useless! People have died because I was to weak to do anything! I've been a nuiscance since the beginning! First my sister, than Ivy."

Zynch was taken aback by the sudden outburst.

"Do you pity me? Is that it? Am I just so weak that you felt bad for me? I know I'm dead weight!

"That doesn't matter to me!" he retorted, his voice even.

"Then what does!?" She sreamed and then fell to the floor sobbing.

"Just leave me hear to die."
