When my brain finally kicked in and made me aware of my senses, I felt warm and comfortable and I could smell something familiar.

I opened my eyes, blinking away the sleep until they adjusted. It took me a second to realise that I was in the bedroom of the 7th floor apartment of the Rangeman building.

The smell of Bulgari green tea lingered on the bedclothes. I grabbed a pillow and inhaled deeply. God I missed it.

I sat up, hugging the pillow to my chest as I tried to remember what had happened.

I was with….Ranger? And Bobby…I think I heard Lester too…and Tank…

I placed the pillow down and noticed I was wearing a black t-shirt.

I sniffed it. It smelled of Bulgari.

"Hey, Bomber," I looked up and saw Bobby standing in the doorway. "How are you feeling?"

"A bit drowsy but better than I felt before. What happened? Where's…" I didn't know what name to use verbally. Bobby sensed my indecisiveness and sat down next to me.

"Ranger is in Brazil right now with Tank, giving everything to the UN. He also told me to tell you that you can stay in the apartment for as long as you want."

It took a moment to process that. "So he's back to Ranger now?"

"He's always been Ranger, Steph. I think you should give him a chance to explain once he gets back.

And I'd rather you did stay in the apartment so I can make sure you're doing all right. Boss wants to make sure too; I took some samples from you while you were asleep and I'm still waiting for the results to get back."

"Ok, but can you tell me what happened? I don't remember much."

He nodded. "When you were locked in the basement, the bastards drugged you with something; I don't know what but we'll find out once we get the results back." There was hesitation. "They also turned off the heating in there which meant you were at risk of hypothermia. I'm glad we got to you in time."

"How long was I in there for?"

Bobby sucked through his teeth. "Well over a day. If Hector hadn't got caught and beaten to the possible chance of internal injuries…" He shook his head and let out a sigh. "We had to take him off the island A.S.A.P which meant we all had to leave the island and get him to a hospital."

I stared at him. "You mean…Hector is…is still alive?"

"Of course he is, Steph." He smiled and I saw his eyes light up. "…Actually…that reminds me; Hector wants to see you. He feels terrible for nearly blowing your cover. If he hadn't tried to hack their security, we wouldn't have needed to leave the island. That would have meant Ranger wouldn't have had to lock you in the basement."

My eyes brimmed with tears. "I want to see him too. I wanted to castrate them after what they did to him."

"Okay then. I'll ask Ella to bring up some clothes for you. Oh, and by the way…" He walked out the door before returning with a tray holding a bowl and a glass of orange juice. "Ella's speciality: chicken noodle soup. Try to eat as much as you can. You haven't had any solid food in almost 2 days."

I nodded as he handed me the tray and left the room.

There was no chance I would ever miss out on Ella's cooking. I had cleaned the bowl and I felt a whole lot better. I swear Ella's culinary skills had healing powers.

Bobby returned half an hour later with a t-shirt, a pair of sweatpants in my size and pair of comfy flats.

Once I was dressed, he walked me to the elevator which we took to go down to the 5th floor. He led me to a small room which was used as a staff lounge where we found Hector sitting with Lester and Cal.

"Stephanie!" Hector gasped, wincing slightly as he jumped up from his seat.

Lester and Cal stood as well, both looking apologetically at me.

Hector held his arms out to me which I willingly accepted. "How are you doing? We were all worried about you."

"I should be asking you that." I said, looking up at him. "You took a hell of a beating."

He made a light shrug. "It was my own fault. I'm lucky Ranger got me out of there alive with only some missing teeth to show for it. I should have known that he wouldn't have let anything happen to you, but…well…oh Christ….I'm such an idiot…"

"Hey, it took balls to violate Boss' orders." Cal said, giving his shoulder a squeeze. "Any of us with your hacking mojo would have done the same."

Hector pressed his lips together as he let go of me. "But they wouldn't have had to lock her in the basement if I had just done what boss said and stayed put…"

Lester wrapped an arm around me and hugged me to him. "C'mon man, Steph's been in worst situations. Right, Beautiful?"

I nodded. "Yeah, sure I was scared shitless, but I have had worse."

Lester grinned. "No cars went boom either." We all laughed as I elbowed him in the ribs and he planted a kiss on my cheek.

"I got the results, Bomber." Bobby said, scrolling on his phone. "It's good news too. Blood sugar is normal… White blood cell count is excellent…no traces of any poisoning…pregnancy test is negative-"

The room went deathly quiet as Bobby grimaced and clenched his eyes shut as he mouthed a few colourful words.

The air left my lungs. "Pregnancy test? Why did you have to do a pregnancy test?"

The chicken noodle soup stirred in my stomach as I looked at each of them as I felt tears fill my eyes. They all looked remorseful- especially Hector.

"Bomber…" Bobby swallowed as he put his phone away. "It turns out you were drugged with rohypnol."

I stared at him. "Rohypnol? Isn't that…isn't that what's known as…"

"The date rape drug." He nodded. "Yeah, it is."
