"Oh, Romano. You es moi silly, are you?" Spain laughed as he tried clean the dirt from the child. Romano didn't like having a bath, and he began to fight Spain. Thanks to the stupid donkey and excitement from earlier that day, Romano and Spain got covered in dirt.
"Being tossed around by a donkey is not'a funny, Spain!" Romano screamed. Spain smiled.
"But you weren't 'tossed around', Romano. You were dragged," he said as he began to wash Romano's hair. Romano glared at him.
"Same thing!" he said.
"No, it isn't. There is a difference."
"Just Shut'upa and clean me, you stupido jerk-hole!" Romano mumbled.
Soon after his bath, Romano was in dry clothes and Spain was drying the child's hair. He rubbed his nose to Romano's.
"All clean, Romano!" he exclaimed with great joy. Romano left the room, completely ignoring him. Spain smiled and shrugged as he gathered up Romano's dirty clothes to wash.
Romano pouted, but went over and sat down on the couch beside Elena. He laid his head to her stomach. He didn't know why. He just felt he had to be there for her. Elena smiled and began rub Romano's hair. Romano didn't mind, and soon fell asleep. Spain walked in, wiping his wet hands on a towel. He noticed Romano sleeping next to Elena and smiled. He walked over to his wife and sat down beside her on the opposite side from where Romano laid. He rubbed Romano's head and then placed his hand on his wife stomach. Spain almost couldn't wait for his child to come into the world.
"How much longer?" he asked her in a whisper.
"Not long. About four more mouths," she whispered back. They didn't want to wake Romano, so they talked quietly.
"He has warmed up to you quickly," Spain told her, nodding to Romano. Elena smiled and nodded.
"I've noticed. I think he'll love our child, Spain. I saw that he looked a bit happy earlier when I let him tough my belly. But then ran off and he seemed a bit upset about something."
"Probably because it reminds him of his younger brother, Veniciono."
"Poor Romano. I'm sure this is a lot to take in. Having another younger sibling and all. A lot has happened that he had to accept." Spain stood up and gently picked up Romano so as not to wake him.
"Well, he's a bit tired from all the excitement that happened today. Let us all retire for the night," he said. He helped his wife to stand up and they walked to Romano's room.
Spain laid Romano down in his bed and they both kissed him on the forehead and told him goodnight and wished him sweet dreams. Then they left his room and walked down the hall to their room. As they both crawled into bed, Spain kissed his wife on her forehead.
"Goodnight, Elena. I love you, even long after our death."
"Goodnight, Spain. I love you just the same. Soon, we'll be real parents."
"Si," Spain agreed as they laid deeper into the bed.
