Well this was interesting to write, I put in some other shocking thing in than what I was originally planning on doing, don't worry you won't miss it.
Enjoy *evil laugh*
"So, what now?" Blaise asked as he finished the homework he missed for this mission then stretched his back.
"Well, Lapis and Zaria are out back riding horses, so I don't know," Eva said.
"You have horses here?"
"Well, they're robotic horses."
"That's pretty interesting," Blaise said then remembered. "Eva, I forgot to give this to you." He went over to his pile of things and pulled out the longbow, quiver, and the wallet. "Back at the facility before the wraiths attacked I found these, they saved me from the explosion, so I figured that if anyone deserves these, it's you."
He handed the three items to her and she was surprised. "My uncle's bow?" she asked turning it to the sword form and looked at it.
"Well, these are the only things from the facility I could grab, and from what you'd told me about your uncle I thought you'd appreciate these," he explained as she opened the wallet and saw the picture with a tear forming in her eye.
"He kept the picture," she said then stood up and started to walk out the door, "I need a moment." She left the room leaving Blaise alone in the room.
Walking over to his cutlasses he picked them up along with a polishing cloth. Sitting down he starting rubbing the cloth on the blades shining them.
"Hello," a voice greeted from the door. Looking in that direction Blaise saw Orlando's head upside down at the top of the door frame.
"Hi, uhh," Blaise snapped his fingers trying to remember his name, "Orlando, right?"
"Yeah," he replied then turned off his boots and landed on the floor on his feet, "and you're Blaise."
"Blaise Campione," Blaise said then cocked his head to the side. "Do I know you?"
"Do you? I meet a lot of people," Orlando replied. He then stretched his back. "You know, dinner is going to start in a few minutes, so if you want to get the food while it's warm you might want to go now."
"So are you going down there now?"
"Not exactly, I'm going down there with my wife, and you're welcome to come along," he replied walking towards his room.
Blaise shrugged then sheathed his swords on his belt. "I might as well," Blaise said walking down the hallway following Orlando, "I don't really even know the way."
"Well sleeping in late then only leaving the room to fight your teammate probably would do that."
"I was winning."
"I know, I had 20 lien riding on you."
"So, you're some kind of dust expert?" Blaise asked catching up with Orlando.
"Yeah, I taught myself how to make the dust combinations before I worked for Linus. Then I developed the gravity boots and production increased nearly 75% when the scientists were able to get a closer look at the machinery, so Linus had no problem allowing Marilyn and I move in here," Orlando explained as he walked a little forward.
"Marilyn? Your wife?" Blaise asked curious.
"Yeah, we met about a year ago in the hospital, then we dated, and got married. Now in a couple of months we're going to have twins."
"Well congrats man," Blaise said making Orlando pause for a moment and smile then he continued.
"So what's your story Blaise?"
"Well, I'm the leader of team BLZE and everything else is a blank space," Blaise explained as they both turned a corner.
"Amnesia?"
"Yeah, during initiation I hit the ground a little too hard," Blaise said rubbing his head.
"Well that seems bad."
"Not really, I don't think about much what my past was since I have three other people to watch over and make sure they don't die," Blaise said and Orlando nodded.
"Orlando?" a voice asked from down the hallway. Turning around the both saw wolf faunus woman with brown hair wearing the typical lab coat and grey sweatpants and jacket covering a somewhat large baby bump. "I was about to head to dinner without you." She walked over to him and pecked him on the cheek then pulled off his hat revealing his wolf faunus ears with one had a split tip.
"Glad you didn't," Orlando smiled then motioned at Blaise. "This is the leader of Eva's team and I'm bringing him to the food hall."
She looked at him for a moment then smiled. "Three wolf faunuses, what a coincidence."
"Yeah, interesting," Blaise replied smiling back at her.
"Well, come along, we don't have much time to waste," she smiled as she dragged Blaise toward down the hallway. Blaise looked behind for a second at Orlando who smiled.
"She likes you," Orlando smiled then chuckled, "You're doomed."
"So let me get this straight," Marilyn said holding one fry pointing it at Blaise, "You're an amnesiac, who is leading a team from Beacon, and your family used to be a prestigious family on the Ayw Isle. Did I miss anything?"
"The girlfriend," Orlando interjected making Marilyn mentally smack herself.
"Right the girl, Yin Long Xiao, or something."
"Yang Xiao Long," Blaise said then saw his team walk in and waved for them to come over.
"Hey, Blaise, Orlando, Marilyn," Eva greeted as she walked over with the rest of BLZE and Helena sitting on Lapis' shoulders then she jumped down to stand next to her sister. "How much longer until I get to meet the new pups?"
"A couple more months, probably around your summer break," Marilyn explained lightly rubbing her baby bump.
Suddenly all the faunuses in the room turned their heads towards the large window with their ears twitching.
"What's going on?" Zaria asked Blaise utterly confused.
"Everyone, GET DOWN!" Blaise shouted pulling out his cutlasses and aimed them at the window just as five black figures flew into the windows, but bounced off and looped around to try again.
As soon as the scientists saw what was happening they started to run towards the door. The rest of team BLZE reached for their weapons but then remembered they left them in the room, except for Eva who had the longbow in sword form on her belt. Turning the longbow to the bow form Eva notched an arrow and aimed it at the door.
"Everyone, go back to your rooms, barricade the doors and windows, under no circumstances should you leave the room or much less the mansion unless you have a death wish," Blaise commanded as the wraiths hit the window again. "Zaria, Lapis, you two go back to the room and get the rest of the weapons and bring them back here. Eva and I will be here to stall the wraiths for as long as we can. And protect anyone and everyone you come across." They nodded and turned to leave the room just as Lapis picked up Helena to leave the room.
"Correction," Orlando said standing up and pulled a syringe of dust from his lab coat then injected it into his arm, "The three of us are going to stall the wraiths."
"No, you go with Marilyn and protect your family," Blaise said.
"I am protecting my family," he replied then covered his arm in a red aura to grow claws. Then the claws ignited gaining several confused looks from Eva and Blaise. "Dust control, remember?"
Then the windows shattered and the wraiths broke into the nearly empty food hall. Blaise opened up fire first aiming at two of the wraiths but missing. Eva fired off one of the arrows hitting one of the wraiths then in nearly an instant it was covered in ice causing it to fall to the ground and shatter the ice. Orlando created a ball of fire in his hand then threw it at the fallen wraith burning it alive killing it.
"Their weakness is fire," Orlando said readying another fireball.
"Perfect," Blaise said firing off two more shots but missing again. At that moment the door to the outside was opened and a wingless wraith walked in. "That one's mine, cover me," Blaise said running forward dodge rolling two strikes from two different wraiths before an arrow and a fireball distracted them.
Jumping in the air Blaise prepared to strike the wingless wraith but it dodged his swords then attempted to strike Blaise with its claws tearing up his right side of his shirt missing his skin. Blaise then tried to hit it using a flurry of attacks but it dodged all of his attacks walking backwards back to the middle of the room. It was about to attack so Blaise blocked it with one of his swords and was about to attack with the other but in mid strike the wraith extended its claws and disarmed Blaise's right sword.
Getting a good grip on the sword it hit Blaise's other sword knocking it out of his hand and caught it with its other hand and gripped it tightly.
"Re… ven… ge," it said shocking Blaise for a moment before it thrusted the swords forward stabbing Blaise through the chest exiting his back.
"BLAISE!" both Eva and Orlando shouted as they watched as Blaise fell backwards with blood pooling around his back.
"It's all my fault," Orlando said under his breath, then his head shot up, "Wait." He ran forward and jumped in the air over a wraith spinning in mid air he clawed the back of one of the wraiths igniting it. "Eva, get Blaise."
"Got it," she nodded her head then collapsed the longbow into sword form and jumped forward parrying a strike from a wraith as she ran towards Blaise. Jumping forward she kicked the wraith using strength usually reserved for Blaise sending it back out the window. "Come on, come on," she said kneeling next to him checking for a pulse. "No, no, nononono." She pressed her hand on his neck, then she tried his wrist, finally she placed her hand on his chest over his heart. "Nononononononono," she cried with tears falling down her face onto Blaise's bloodstained shirt, "It killed him!"
"Just get him here!" Orlando shouted then he was hit full force by a flying wraith sending him flying toward the wall. Activating his boots he landed on the wall perfectly fine. Pulling out a yellow and black syringe Orlando injected them both in his arms causing his aura to flare red, black, and yellow. He snapped his right fingers creating a lightning/fire orb in his hand. Jumping off the wall he deactivated his boots making him fly at a nearby wraith hitting it with the orb throwing it into the ground burning it alive. Then two of the wraiths flew past him and into the hallway. "There's still a chance to save him!"
"I'll kill you all!" Eva shouted ignoring Orlando as she turned the sword into the longbow and fired off an ice arrow at the last wraith making it fall to the ground. Running at the wraith she pulled out two regular arrows and thrust them into two of the wraith's eyes causing it to scream in pain. Turning the bow back into a sword she swing it decapitating the wraith.
"What was that noise?" Lapis asked as they both left the room carrying the weapons after they made sure Helena was safe in their room.
"I think the wraiths are out of the room," Zaria said with her voice slightly choking.
"Does that mean that they're dead?"
"No, they couldn't have died, Blaise is there, so is Eva and Orlando, but we have to make sure everyone is safe," she replied then started running down the hall unsheathing her katanas. "Come out you fuckers!" Zaria shouted her typical happy tone turning into an evil dark one slightly scaring Lapis.
There was a screech from the hallway in response. Lapis had enough time to pull out his battle axe to swing it hitting the wraith with the broad side of the axe sending it crashing into the wall. Zaria jumped in with her katanas and activating her semblance she sent a flurry of dust enhanced attacks at the wraith hitting every single time. She continued to attack until she was starting to cut through the wall.
"Well, who else?!" she shouted then fired off a grapple hook from her wrist and pulled herself down the hall. When she reached the apex of her flight she used her semblance to load another grapple hook then fire it off and pull herself again leaving Lapis farther behind.
"You've gotta be kidding me," Lapis said then heard a screech from behind him. Turning around just in enough time to narrowly avoiding the claws but not dodge the wraith grabbing him by the back of his armor and pull him down the hallway. "This ends now!" Lapis shouted reaching up with one hand and grabbed the wraith's arm then thrusted the battle axe blade into the ground nearly stopping the wraith instantly throwing it into the ground.
Letting go of the battle axe he reached up with his free hand and grabbed the base of one of the wraith's wings. Activating his semblance he pulled, ripping off the wing. The wraith rolled over throwing Lapis off of it. Jumping back onto the wraith Lapis activated his semblance again and punched the wraith in the beak sending the bone armor through its head killing it.
"Everything alright?" Zaria asked landing next to Lapis slightly skidding to a stop. "I heard the screech and came back." She looked at Lapis' fist that was still lodged in the wraith's head. "That seems pretty brutal."
"It's not the first time I've had to do this," Lapis replied pulling out his blood caked fist then ripped his battle axe from the floor. "Let's go back to the food hall."
"Wake up little pup," a voice said to Blaise as he opened his eyes to see pure white. Looking himself over he saw he was wearing his normal attire with his jacket.
"What is going on?" Blaise asked standing up then pressed his hand over his heart in an attempt to help stop the pain.
"You don't know?" the voice asked. Blaise turned around to see who the voice was coming from and to his shock, it was him. It was himself before coming to Beacon. The long hair kept in a ponytail to hide the wolf ears, his wayfarers, and the grey aviator jacket before Yang did her own independent changes. "This," he motioned around him, "is your perception of what you'd call purgatory while you're still slightly still alive. To put it simply, you're dead."
Mwahahaha, now how was that? Ha ha ha. Everyone is going crazy!
*Long loud sigh* I've had a long week. I had to make a longbow for my world history class' medieval project. Yeah, longbow, coincidence, I think not. Yeah I had to make a longbow so I decided to add it into my writing. Not to mention I'm still in the middle of making it.
Well, anyway, little cliffhanger. Well actually a couple big ones. The wraith talking, it being able to disarm a trained fighter, Blaise dying and people losing their shit. Yeah a decent amount of cliffhangers.
Well anyway I'm going to go play Final Fantasy XIII, because the game is getting good, then I'll start writing the next chapter.
