Chapter 14: Luna

Luna Lovegood hummed absently as she skipped through the hallway towards the Charms classroom. Twirling around the corner she giggled as Zeleste weaved around her ankles in the form of a tabby cat. Ignoring the snickering around her Luna slowed to a walk, "I wonder if we'll get into Protean charms today Zel."

"I doubt it. Besides we already memorized them ages ago." She purred.

"Well at least Professor Flitwick is sure to have a more hands on lesson."

"Like you don't enjoy theoretical debate Lu, who are you-"

"Oh!" Luna exclaimed, "Sorry Harry Potter! We didn't see you there."

"Er, that's alright Luna. No harm done." Harry said shuffling his feet slightly.

"It's lovely to see you Shayreen." The cat peered around Luna's ankles.

"You as well Zeleste." Shay greeted.

"Are you going to continue the DA this year Harry?" Luna asked.

"I don't think so. There's a lot going on this year and I think it would be a bit too much."

"Oh, that's a shame. I rather enjoyed the DA, it was almost like having friends."

"We're still here Luna, you still have friends." Harry said awkwardly rocked back on his heels, "So, er, Luna, how was your holiday?"

"Oh, it was lovely. Daddy took us up to Switzerland to see if we could catch a bibbering-humdinger. There much more active during the solstice."

"Ah, and uh, did you catch any?"

"Unfortunately not, perhaps next year will be more fruitful." Luna said absently twirling a strand of hair around her finger, "Oh! So that's that then?" She asked turning to Zeleste.

Harry blinked confused glancing at Shay who snickered and rolled her eyes, "What's it?" he asked.

"Oh, we're settled." Luna answered.

Harry looked over to Zeleste who now was in the shape of a lumbering cat-like creature with a long curled tail, "You're settled? That's, er, that's great Luna! Congratulations!" he exclaimed uncertainly, "Um, what is she?"

"Arctictis Binturong," Luna replied, "Well, I suppose we better head to class if we want to be on time."

"Bin-too-wrong. Huh? That's it? You're not going to celebrate?" Harry asked.

"Why would we?" Luna asked furrowing her brow, "We're who we are and settling doesn't change that so what's the point? We might as well go to class. Perhaps Flitwick will let us try some Protean charms today. Goodbye Harry Potter." Luna turned and continued down the hall with Zeleste lumbering on beside her.

"Strange." Harry and Shay commented.

"But I guess that's Luna's charm, right?" Harry asked, "That has to be the most normal settling I've ever witnessed"

"Well I suppose to such a unique person it is a normal occurrence?" Shay asked

Harry shrugged good naturedly, "I guess it's nice to have some sort of normal occurrence at Hogwarts. Although I wouldn't of expected it from Luna of all people. Oh, well. We best get to Transfiguration before Hermione and Caeryn have a fit."

Shay chuckled and bounded down the corridor, "Come on Chosen One, let's go."
