Chapter 15: Tom Riddle
"What do you think Hogwarts will be like Tom?" a voice whispered spilling into the silence of the twilight.
"Magical." He stated dryly, "and would be even more magical if we do not arrive sleep deprived Cicero."
The cat huffed and leapt from the windowsill to her boy's pillow, "I can't sleep Tom! I'm too excited."
Tom sighed and rolled over to meet the luminous orbs, "We can save our excitement for tomorrow. Let's leave our memory of this place behind 'Cero. Tomorrow we'll be amongst our equals and no one will ever look down on us again. We'll be the greatest wizard in history."
Shifting into a gecko Cicero curled up at Tom's shoulder, "Maybe we'll find a family." She whispered.
Tom didn't answer.
000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
"Do you think anyone will ever love us Tom?"
"We don't need love 'Cero. We need them to recognize how great we are! Then we'll show them."
"We don't need to be great Tom. As long as we have each other."
Tom scoffed, "Quiet Cicero." He scolded.
000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
Tom sneered as he looked at the ratty hat, that's going to decide where we go? He mentally scoffed.
Cicero peered around his shoulder It does look a little mangy, huh? She replied.
"Riddle, Thomas"
Tom strode up arrogantly and sat upon the old stool.
Don't worry Tommy, we'll go to the right house!
Quiet Cicero.
*Ahh, and what do we have here?*
Tom?!
Quiet Cicero.
*Hmmm, plenty of cunning, and oh! What ambition! What is it you want most Mr. Riddle?*
We want a family.
Quiet Cicero! I want to be the greatest wizard in history. So great that everyone will know my name and no one will be able to compare.
Tom?
*So be it- "Better be…SLYTHERIN!"
Tom smirked and stalked towards the silver and green table.
000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
"Tom, what are you doing?!"
"Teaching these brats a lesson! They should know better than to mess with me!"
"Tom, this is wrong! We shouldn't hurt them, they're just brats! They don't know any better!"
"Now they will."
00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
"Professor Slughorn! Would you mind terribly directing me towards the necessary settlement forms?" Tom smiled charmingly.
"But of course Tom! Congratulations! Now where is she?" Slughorn beamed as his daemon, as spindly leg bird peered curiously from his desk.
"Cicero." Tom ordered.
Cicero sighed and padded through the doorway to sit regally at his side.
Slughorn and his bird deamon puffed up, "Tom! She is stunning, my boy!" Slughorn exclaimed.
Tom smiled "Thank you professor, I'm fond of the form myself. I'll just return these to you once I'm finished with them?"
"Of course, my boy, of course!"
"Thank you Professor!" Tom nodded and continued out the door with Cicero trotting elegantly beside him.
0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
Cicero stared at the body of Myrtle Warren. "Tom, please. This is wrong."
"Quiet Cicero."
00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
"A wolf?" Tom arched an eyebrow, "No. Pick something else. A snake, a raven, a tiger, a fox. Take your pick, we're not a wolf."
The black wolf glared fiercely back with eyes of molten gold, "Oh, but we are Tommy. Or should I say you are?"
"I am not some pack mongrel."
"And I am?"
"You are nothing. You are dust. You are magic. You belong to me and you are nothing."
"So be it."
00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
"Tom."
It was the first time she'd spoken in the two years since she'd settled and that stilled his hand. He turned to the large wolf beside him and raised an eyebrow questioningly.
"Tom…please. Please don't do this. If you do there is no turning back."
He scoffed at the sobbing wreck of a man on the floor and turned to the wolf, "Quiet Cicero. I've got to be rid of this trash once and for all."
"Tom!-"
"Avada Kedavra!"
Tom grasped his old diary in his hand as he quickly flicked through the spells to place a portion of his soul within. The diary glowed briefly and he felt a warm buzz as he inspected it once more. He had, of course, been successful. Tom chuckled and turned to leave the mansion. As he reached the door he felt a tug in his chest and sighed turning back to the room.
Cicero stood with her head bowed staring at the bodies of his dead muggle relatives. "Cicero, come here." Tom ordered.
With a shudder the wolf raised her head to glare back at her human. Crimson eyes stared into Tom's and he couldn't help stepping backwards. The wolf smiled sadistically, "No turning back my Tommy."
And that was the end.
