Hello RWBY readers, I am J. Van A, and this is a BLZEing remnant. The fanfic that may or may not succeed in shocking you with the bombshell I'm planning on dropping near the end.

"Good, good Ruby, you're getting better," Blaise said as he blocked another strike from Ruby's pistol scythes with his non-aura cancelling cutlasses. "Just remember that when the time comes and you have to actually fight, you have to actually cut the person."
"I know," she said then sweeped Blaise's legs and used the tip of the scythe to cut Blaise's cheek. "Now how was that?"
"A lot better," he responded standing up and focusing his aura to heal the cut. "Now that should be enough for today because I have a team battle in the afternoon."
"Oh yeah, that's going on today. Yang thinks we should fight JNPR. So who are you guys fighting?" she asked activating the modification to the pistols to collapse the blade into a small block under the barrel of the gun similar to her Crescent Rose.
"We are going to fight team AQRS. I fought their leader a couple days ago and he suggested we spar," Blaise explained then walked over to the corner of the room and pulled on his aviator trench coat. "His team and I seem pretty well balanced from what they told me about themselves. Alex is more of a swashbuckler, Quinton is the tank, Reita is the sniper, and Shizuko is the samurai."
"Yeah, that seems rather coincidental," she said as she pulled on her cloak. "So we put our weapons away, go to lunch, then go the arena, right?"
"You're going to put your weapons away. I'm using these cutlasses in the fight," Blaise explained as he slid the cutlasses into their sheaths.
"So what's going on over here?" Blaise asked as he sat down next to Yang in the lunch room who was staring at team JNPR.
"Nora and I are having a staring contest because she believes the one to blink first's team will lose for our match," she explained pointing at Nora who was returning her stare right back.
"So do you want me to get some tape to hold your eyes open?" Blaise asked as he picked up a fry and munched on it.
"No, we're fine," she said, "I stopped having the urge to blink ten minutes ago. Now it's just a matter of time before she blinks."
"Hello team RWBY!" Ruby greeted loudly next to Yang surprising her causing her to blink.
"Ugh," Yang groaned as she clawed at her now stinging eyes while Nora cheered and blinked, then whined because her eyes stung.
"Shoulda accepted the tape," Blaise said then drank his hot coffee as Yang whimpered in pain with her hands covering her eyes.
"I gotta go get food," Ruby said then ran off to the lunch line.
"She seems pretty happy considering she's the reason you're crying," Blaise said wrapping his arm around Yang and pulled her in for a hug.
"I'm not crying, a bug just flew into my eyes," Yang said in mid whimper into Blaise's jacket.
"Sure it did," Blaise said rubbing the top of her head. "Sure it did."
"Something's off with her," Weiss said to BY and Blaise.
"Yeah, her eyes are burning," Blaise defended Yang pulling the whimpering brawler into a tight hug.
"No, not the brute, I'm used to her by now. Ruby has been acting differently lately."
"Can you really blame her," Blake said looking up from her scroll. "I mean, after that night."
"Hmm?" Blaise asked raising an eyebrow.
"Nothing for you to worry about," Weiss told the wolf. "But still, she has been acting stranger than usual. A few days ago she came back to the dorm later than usual being more silent."
Blaise gulped since he knew he was the reason for Ruby's strange behavior. After he told her everything she's been staying at the workshop later than usual with him making plans. Then last night they both went to Vale to get their disguises making Ruby come back later than that.
"I don't want to make any assumptions, but I think she's seeing someone," Weiss suggested then there was some soft clicking nearby forcing Blaise to jump away from what he knew was coming.
"What?!" Yang shouted with her gauntlets engaged and bloodshot eyes now fully red.
"Keep your voice down you brute," Weiss practically yelled at Yang making her sit down.
"If there's anyone touching her." Yang didn't even need to finish that sentence since her gauntlets clicked emphasizing her point.
"Come on," Blaise interjected wrapping his arm around Yang's shoulders changing her eye color back to their usual lilac, yet they were still bloodshot from the staring contest, "Yang, don't hit me, but Ruby isn't the most sociable out of all of us. She likes to stay in our friend group for talks, so it is highly unlikely for her to have gotten a boyfriend." As soon as he finished that sentence he looked up and saw Ruby finally get through the line. "Anyway, we're done having this conversation."
"Hey guys," Ruby greeted the team.
"Hello," Blaise greeted then came to a realization. "Where's my team?"
"They ate lunch a while ago saying they're having a duel right after lunch," Weiss said then slapped her hand on her forehead. "Right, they told us to tell you to get down there soon."
"How long until lunch is over?"
"About ten minutes."
"Well shit," Blaise said standing up from the table and wrapped his double chocolate chip cookie in a napkin and shoved it into his inner coat pocket. "I have to get going now." He quickly kissed the top of Yang's head then ran out of the doors.
"About time," Lapis said as Blaise burst into the room then threw a small bundle at his leader.
"Thanks, lost track of time," Blaise said strapping his broadswords to his arms over his wrist blades. Then he holstered his pistols and threw the aura cancelling blades into his locker after making sure his non-aura cancelling cutlasses were on his belt.
"We're fighting AQRS. So any insight on the team?" Eva asked her leader who was sitting down on the bench about to take a bite from his cookie.
Sighing, he put the cookie back into his pocket. "Here's how it's going to go down. I'll take down the leader. Lapis you go after the guy in armor. Zaria, you're going after the one wearing samurai armor. And Eva, you're going after the tall one with the sniper rifle. I don't know the extent of their abilities so use your semblances sparingly, but use them to save yourself."
"Alright class, now pay attention during these matches today because you may learn new techniques during fighting," Glynda explained to the large group of first year students from the four schools as BLZE and AQRS entered the arena.
"So anyway," Blaise said to his team ignoring Glynda as they walked over to their starting area, "We should have fun, but at least try to win." Looking up he saw Alex having practically the same conversation with his team. Looking at their opponents Lapis and Zaria looked extremely pale and turned their heads to face Blaise.
"Blaise, do you happen to know his team members' names?" Lapis asked with his face showing terror.
"Well, other than Alex there is Quinton Menton, Reita Thorne, and Shizuko Dix," Blaise explained making Zaria practically freak out.
"And you couldn't tell us any of this before hand?" she frantically asked.
"Why does that matter?"
"There's a reason our teams are so evenly matched," Lapis said then the buzzer rang making the opposing team look at them.
"You!" both Quinton and Shizuko shouted as they pointed at Lapis and Zaria.
"What is going on?" Blaise asked but didn't get a response since both his team members charged at the other two weapons ready.
"Should we be concerned?" Eva asked then received a bullet landing right next to her head as a response. Pulling out her compressed spear she activated her semblance allowing her to predict the next bullet's path blocking it perfectly. She retaliated by turning the spear into a crossbow and fired off an explosive arrow that landed where Reita was before but couldn't see where she went.
"Great," Blaise said then pulled out his cutlass fast enough to redirect a dust charge into a wall sent from Alex's dust sword.
Quinton had his lance out as he charged at Lapis, and Lapis had his axe ready. Just before the lance connected Lapis swung with the axe knocking the lance out of Quinton's hand, then he swung back hitting Quinton's armor just above the ribs.
"Nice to see you're doing so well," Quinton said standing back up.
"Nice to see you too Quin," Lapis said then kicked Quinton in the chest sending him back a couple feet.
"You really don't learn," Quinton said then a black and red helmet shot onto his head from the back of the armor. "Never put distance between us." He activated his semblance and started to charge at Lapis.
"You don't learn either," Lapis said then activated his semblance and swung with the broad side of the axe at Quinton. Just before the axe hit Quinton pulled his black kite shield with the broad red cross on it and blocked the strike not damaging his aura but sending him into the wall.
Zaria was trying every chance she got to hit Shizuko, yet every time she struck Shizuko would twist slightly and block it.
"Why?! Why?! Why?! Why did you have to come to Beacon?!" Zaria asked Shizuko as she activated her semblance to attack.
"Coincidence," Shizuko said as she activated her semblance and blocked each attack and countered at the end with a strike to the back. "What? Did you not want to see me? All those times we had growing up," she uppercutted with the back sword "All the fun we had." Quickly pulling out her pistol she fired a round hitting Zaria in the chest throwing her back three feet. "The things we did, sis. Did none of it mean anything to you?"
"You're not my sister," Zaria said standing up. "All those times did mean a lot, but he ruined them." Aiming her wrist she shot a grapple at Shizuko's katana which she caught at the last second.
"That gives you no right for what you did!" Shizuko shouted pulling on the grapple sending Zaria flying at her. Just as Zaria came close Shizuko pressed the pistol against the back of Zaria's neck and pulled the trigger throwing her into the ground.
"And it gives you no right to defend what he did," Zaria said picking herself off of the ground.
"Murderer," Shizuko said silent enough only Zaria could hear before she twisted one of the blades on her katana making both shark edges face the same direction. Then she pressed a button on the elongated handle between the two blades causing the katanas to glow slightly red before uppercutting Zaria with an explosive hit then a downward explosive strike and activating her semblance to repeat the process.
"Zaria!" Blaise shouted as he looked away from Alex to look at his teammate but then was punched in the face with the pommel of the kriegsmesser sword.
"Don't look away from your opponent," Alex said as he kneed Blaise in the gut.
"Eva, help her!" Blaise shouted as he rolled out of a downward strike and countered with a strike from his cutlass.
"I'm a little busy at the moment," she replied dodging another bullet from what seemed like nowhere.
"Well then," Blaise said ejecting the clip from the railgun pistol while dodging another one of Alex's attacks with the dust blade in one hand and the kriegsmesser in the other. He put in a new clip into the pistol and aimed it at Alex. "You need to take a step back." He fired one round sending Alex straight back. He tried to stop himself but his feet on the ground had no effect making him hit the wall with the force of falling off a small building. Taking his chance Blaise charged at Shizuko who was still pummeling Zaria with explosive dust blades.
"Not so fast!" Alex shouted as he stabbed the dust blade into the ground with the revolving chamber turning to blue. Then a geyser shot out of the ground and hit Blaise sending him into the wall. Throwing his kriegsmesser sword through the geyser Alex activated his semblance he guided the sword straight at Blaise. Piercing his aura, the blade pinned Blaise to the wall through his left arm making him shout in pain.
"Son of a-" Blaise shouted before the sword cut into his arm as he tried to pry himself off. Pulling his pistol out with his good arm he aimed it at Shizuko, and after turning the charge up to its highest non-lethal charge he fired hitting Shizuko breaking her assault on Zaria, leaving Zaria's aura just above the red.
"Come on Lapis, I thought you were better than this," Quinton said as he smashed the kite shield against Lapis's face making some blood flow out of his nose.
"You're just a jackass," Lapis replied activating his aura causing a blue glow to radiate off of him. then he punched the black and red knight in the chest knocking him off of the blue berserker. Taking his only chance Lapis jumped to his feet and picked up his axe he had dropped a couple seconds before. He was about to run and help his partner before he felt like he was hit by a freight train because Quinton charged.
'We're getting nowhere,' Eva thought as she barely dodged another bullet with the use of her semblance giving her a slight headache.
"Surprise," a voice said from behind her. Before she could react she was hit on the side by a shortsword.
"Big mistake," Zaria said as she jumped from her spot on the ground with her semblance active watching Reita making sure she doesn't escape. Just before her foot connected Reita disappeared making Eva kick nothing but air. "She can turn invisible!" Eva notified her team who were having their own problems at the moment.
"We need a new strategy!" Blaise shouted as he pulled the kriegsmesser sword from his arm freeing himself from the wall.
"No shit!" Zaria shouted as she dodged a strike from Shizuko's katanas.
"They are almost just like us!" Eva shouted dodging a bullet. Then each of the members of BLZE had a collective thought.
"Eva, get Alex! Zaria, Quinton! Lapis, Shizuko!" Blaise shouted and almost instantly the members of his team reacted. Lapis and Zaria broke away from their original opponents and crossed the arena giving each other a high five as they passed each other.
Zaria jumped above Quinton's broadsword land landed on his shoulders. Shoving the pistol into the opening she stabbed him with the bayonet then unleashed a flurry of bullets directly to Quinton until his aura hit the red.
When Lapis reached Shizuko he was about to strike down which she had prepared to block. Just before their weapons could connect Lapis let go of the axe and grabbed the dual bladed katana by the handle and threw it away from the two. Letting all of his anger fuel his semblance his aura seemed like blue flames flowing off of his body. Scaring Shizuko for a moment Lapis smirked with the blue flames seeming to flow out of his eyes. Finally punching her he sent Shizuko into the wall breaking through to the locker room behind the arena sending her aura to red.
Kicking Alex in the chin Eva sent him flying upward. Then jumping in mid-air she delivered a drop kick throwing Alex into the ground creating a crater where he landed. Pulling out her spear she fired an explosive round hitting him in the chest. Then she pulled out her long bow and fired an ice arrow on her descent. Turning it into the longsword she dropped to the ground and delivered a strike to the ice surrounding Alex breaking it and sending his aura to the red.
"I know you're out there," Blaise standing in the middle of the arena with his eyes closed and the kriegsmesser sword in his good hand. He heard light footsteps causing his ears to slightly twitch on the top of his head. "You may be able to turn invisible and reduce the amount of sound you make, but the one thing you didn't plan on was that you're fighting against a hound." Suddenly he turned around and headlocked an invisible neck with his bad arm and pressed the kriegsmesser sword against her neck. "And you smell like gunpowder and night mist perfume." Flicking his wrist blade open he pierced her shoulder cancelling her aura ending the match.
"Now class," Glynda said catching everyone in the arena's attention, "What should we learn from this match?"
"Don't mess with BLZE," Yang said out loud causing all of the Beacon students to laugh.
"That would be a lesson to learn, but not the one I'm looking for."
"Choose your opponents wisely," a silver-grey haired teen from the Haven students said making Glynda nod.
"That would be correct Mr. Black. The reason why BLZE was struggling in the beginning was since they fought opponents too similar to themselves, after they realized their mistake the tide turned in their favor," Glynda said then flicked her crop fixing the arena. "BLZE and AQRS, please leave the arena and join us up here soon. Next team."
"What the fuck is going on?" Blaise asked as two members from each team grabbed their partners and threw them into the wall of the locker room.
"Just some family drama," Quinton told Alex who had the kriegsmesser pointed at his throat.
"What do you mean by that?" Blaise asked Quinton.
"Well you see-" Lapis tried before Blaise threw him into the locker with his good arm.
"I wasn't asking you!"
"Lapis is my brother," Quinton said confusing Blaise for a moment who tried to do the math before he continued. "Step-brother."
"And you?" Reita asked Shizuko as she pressed the sniper rifle under her chin.
"Family drama," Shizuko replied making Zaria scoff.
"That's an understatement," Zaria said looking over Lapis to see shizuko with her messed up hair fall slightly over her face.
"Sisters, step-sisters, or what?" Eva asked forcing Zaria's head back to the wall.
"Adopted sisters," Shizuko replied, "And something more."
"Oh shut up," Zaria said slumping her head against the wall, "We ended a long time ago."
"Yeah, right around the time you killed my dad," Shizuko said forcing Reita off of her and starting to make her way to Zaria before Blaise flicked his right wrist blade and aimed it at her throat.
"Hey," Blaise said pushing his hand further making Shizuko go back to her spot, "If there's one thing we specialize in, it's family drama. so shut up and we can talk about this in a bit."
See, four bombshells.
In case you didn't get it, here they are: Lapis is Quinton's step-brother, Zaria is the adopted sister of Shizuko, Zaria killed Shizuko's dad, and the last one I leave up to your imagination *wink wink*.
So yeah, interesting thing are to happen in the future. I'm also thinking of bringing in CRDL in for the next chapter since they don't get enough screen time even in the show. And I forgot to put in a Lucia tease in this chapter, damn.
these next few chapter will also take place before 'Extracurricular' just so you know where we are in the series.
