Hello everybody, my name is J. Van A and my brain hurts. Five days and almost 4K words later, we have a new chapter and for once, Blaise literally does nothing. Decently important plot points have been placed, Ruby is an accidental terrorist, and then they get back to Beacon.
Enjoy
Ruby stopped, panting from how fast she had ran. Looking around she saw she was just outside the facility Blaise had taken her to. Finally concluding she was alone she sat down on a nearby rock.
"Well this is quite the mess you've gotten yourself into isn't it," Ruby said to herself. "Blaise is currently on his own, and Lucia is in the middle of a swarm of Wendigos." Reaching to her back she tried to grab at her sniper rifle, but only grasped at thin air. "Must've fallen off when I ran."
After a few moments of just sitting there she just threw her hands up in frustration. "Why did I even have to come here?! Blaise does these sort of things all the time and he gets out of them just fine… most of the time. I don't even have Crescent Rose here. What good am I?" Looking back she saw a figure being thrown out of the tower window then landed on the side followed closely behind by a person climbing on the walls. "Alright, so one of them is probably Blaise, and he seems to be doing just fi-" she stopped when she saw one of them throw the other onto the roof. One of them punched the other making the one who got hit not move at all. Then the one who got hit punched the other one making him fall onto the ground. The standing one picked up the one of the ground then appeared to hit the one in the neck. Then a very audible shout of pain could be heard as the big one dropped the smaller one to the ground.
Weighing her options Ruby got into a running stance and continued back to the facility hearing the shouts get louder.
"This is just going to make you wish you were dead," Sedric said then stabbed the needle of the auto-injector into Blaise's neck releasing the dust mixture into Blaise's body causing him to yell in pain. "Oh, stop yelling, you're not going to die," Sedric told him covering his wolf ears, "This mixture is a prototype health injection designed to heal any wounds and injuries along with brain damage, so I'm doing you a favor. No more playing the amnesia card, and then you can finally get back to the plan." After a couple more moments of shouting Blaise then went silent from being knocked out by the drug.
Walking over to the edge of the roof as he waited for Blaise to wake up he saw the commotion happening down on the ground. 30-35 wendigos were released from their cages and were currently ripping the White Fang guards apart, but were for some reason staying in only one area. "Well this is interesting," Sedric said to himself pulling out his scroll trying to find the program for the chips he had placed in their heads. Then he noticed two figures, one dressed in black and another dressed in red. The one in black was in the middle of the swarm fighting the White Fang, occasionally killing a wendigo. And the one in red was running to the fight with what appeared to be two… curved swords? "These kids get stranger and stranger. Don't they, Blaise?" he turned as he asked his brother who was still unconscious and now heavily sweating, "Right. I'm going to have to fill him in later." He then walked over to the edge of the roof and jumped off.
"What they hell do you think you're doing back here?" Lucia asked Ruby as the younger girl jumped into the fray killing three wendigos.
"I," she said then fired off four rounds hitting their marks killing the grimm, "am helping. There's a reason I'm a student at Beacon."
"Yeah and there's a reason I'm a professional assassin," Lucia told her as she fired off a scatter shot into the horde killing a couple wendigos and the last remaining White Fang. "But these things see me as their alpha because I can somewhat control them. You are very much human, they will try to kill you now."
"Good thing for me," she replied alternating the direction of her blades then spun killing the grimm in the immediate proximity around her, "I can fight."
"You don't seem to understand, these things learn," Lucia told her swinging her longsword killing two more grimm.
"Well there's only a few left and it's not like they're all just going to…" she swung her sword just as all of the grimm in the area surrounding the two girls just fell over and started to deteriorate, "drop… dead."
"What the fuck?" Lucia asked then they both heard the sound of a jacket going through wind, except the only problem was that it was a calm night. "Where the hell is that coming from?"
"Look," Ruby said pointing at the tower as a figure wearing a grimm mask and a black long coat fell towards the ground with his left leg extended.
"Ruby, do you play a lot of video games?" Lucia asked the girl as she reloaded her shotgun.
"A little," she replied loading a new clip into her pistols.
"Alright, well I think it is safe to say we," she said as the man landed on the ground unaffected by the drop, "have found this level's boss."
"So a party of three assassins shows up at my doorstep. One sneaks in to find any documents and get's taken out, and the other two disturb my work," he says approaching the two girls unfurling his machine gun into zweihander form.
"What did you do to Blaise?" Lucia asked aiming up her shotgun with the audible charged sound.
"A railgun, well hello dear sister," Sedric greeted his sister after he got a better look at her. "Don't worry about Blaise, he has been taken care of." He turned his attention to Ruby. "And who might this young girl be. She may have the ears of a wolf, but she sure does not smell like one. Let me guess, Blaise gave you a vial of grimm perfume so you would smell like a faunus. It would normally work against other faunus, but wolves know their kind's smell by heart."
"Where is Blaise?" Ruby asked aiming her pistols slightly quivering from fear.
"Oh, look at that, a Campione weapon. Aura cancelling, well, aura piercing for you. Campione's really are some of the best assassins. When a person gets even scratched by a Campione blade, they are no longer able to defend themselves from harm," Sedric told Ruby then turned his attention back to Lucia. "You know, if I remember correctly, you and Blaise both preferred smaller, easier to conceal blades. I wonder what would happen if I were to use this against this little porcelain doll here?" he asked emphasizing his point by nonchalantly twirling his zweihander with only his right hand.
"Stop avoiding the question Sedric!" Lucia demanded. "If you had hurt Blaise I swear-"
"Swear what?" Sedric asked, "Swear you'll kill me. You could never kill your family. Even though you hated me, you came and infiltrated Beacon to assault the headmaster, to save me."
"You attacked Ozpin?" Ruby asked Lucia turning her attention away from Sedric.
"I had a reason," Lucia responded keeping her black and red eyes on Sedric.
"I barely even showed up and I think I probably won't even need to kill anyone," Sedric said under his breath.
"Why would you attack Ozpin?" Ruby asked aiming one of her pistols at Lucia.
"Ruby! Focus! This is what he's trying to do. He is a manipulative asshole. Able to talk his way into making his enemies destroy each other. He tricked me into attacking your headmaster," Lucia explained keeping her shotgun aimed at Sedric.
"Really I tricked you into leaving dust-knows-where, to come to Beacon, sneak down into the detention center, knock him out, and handcuff him to a table for roughly three days without so much as giving the teachers a clue as to where their headmaster was?" Sedric asked resting against his zweihander as Ruby turned her second pistol at the other girl. "See, looks like you just can't be trusted."
"One thing," Ruby said to Sedric as Lucia lowered her shotgun to look at the young girl, "What did you do to Blaise?"
"I already said, he has been taken care of."
"Not good enough," Ruby said quickly turning around and attempted to strike at Sedric who simply raised his sword blocking both of the aura piercing blades. He then retaliated hit a kick to Ruby's stomach with his left foot sending her flying back a couple feet.
"Ruby, you alright?" Lucia asked shooting a shotgun bullet at Sedric that he blocked at the last second with the broad side of his sword.
"I guess I will have to do this," Sedric shrugged as he swung the blade at Ruby that she barely dodged. He pulled it out of the ground and spun with it gaining momentum to hit Ruby who had blocked the sword with her blades throwing her back a few feet.
Lucia jumped in and swung her longsword at Sedric that be blocked with his sword, then he let go of it with his right hand and punched her in the face throwing her into the ground. Ruby then attacked Sedric kicking him in the chest making him drop his zweihander. She swung with one of her blades that Sedric caught in his right hand with a loud metallic clank. With the mechanisms in his arm whirring he gripped the blade tighter until it broke into small metal shards causing the two girls to freeze.
"I've had some new upgrades," Sedric explained then kneed Ruby in the gut with his left leg and uppercutted the girl with his right fist throwing her back a few feet. "They really are useful, maybe I should thank Blaise for cutting off my old limbs."
"You're an asshole," Lucia said jumping off of the ground and pulled out her pistol then aimed it at Sedric and pulled the trigger.
Within a split second he jerked his arm to in front of him and caught the dart bullet inches from his face. Dropping the dart he stepped on the handle of his zweihander he launched the sword off of the ground and caught it with the robotic arm. "You two realize you can't defeat me? Your best chance is currently on the roof of that tower and isn't coming down here any time soon."
'If only I had Crescent Rose here with me,' Ruby thought looking at Sedric, then her eyes glanced behind him and saw a familiar metal gun behind him.
"I'm only giving you this one chance to leave," Sedric said as Ruby got into a running stance. "What are you doing?" he asked then Ruby disappeared in a puff of rose petals. "Well that is interesting."
Running past Sedric, Ruby came to the railgun sniper rifle Blaise must've dropped and picked it up. Quickly turning around she aimed the barrel behind her similar to her fighting with Crescent Rose and fired off a highly charged round launching her at Sedric hitting him with the metal bottom of the rifle. Stopping in front of Sedric she wrapped her arm around herself aiming the rifle behind herself on the side and fired off a round giving her momentum to spin and hit Sedric in the chest throwing him onto his back. Aiming the rifle up at an arc slightly behind her she fired another round throwing the gun down hitting Sedric in the chest again.
Sedric swept his arm to the side and knocked Ruby onto the ground. Shooting his wrist blade out of his right arm her stabbed Ruby in the leg cancelling her aura before he rolled away from the girl.
Lucia attempted to swing at Sedric but he blocked it with his right arm as he stood up while picking up his zweihander. Swinging the large blade at Lucia she blocked it with with her shotgun. Attempting to do what Ruby did she fired off a higher powered shot and used the momentum to spin. He blocked the shotgun with the zweihander, but she managed to cut his arm with the longsword cancelling his aura. He was about to swing with his zweihander again but was cut short by the sound of a gunshot.
Stopping what he was doing he looked down and saw blood flowing out of a wound in his abdomen. Turning back around he saw Ruby standing up over a small pool of blood from her leg pointing a pistol at Sedric with the barrel smoking.
"Fuck you," Ruby said then buckled from her leg pain.
"Ruby," Lucia said running over to the girl's side helping her up.
"Get Sedric," Ruby told her trying to push Lucia away, "I'm fine."
"Actually no," Sedric laughed holding his side crawling away from the two, "I cut a few arteries in your leg, nothing major, but cutting too many one can cause you to bleed out almost as fast as cutting your jugular. Plus with your aura gone you'll have to resort to natural healing or raiding a nearby hospital. You have one of two choices here: take me in, or save her."
"You've been shot, you'll bleed out eventually."
"This is a minor wound, and in case you haven't noticed I own this facility with a medical bay, and if either of you take a step in the guards and automated turrets will kill you on the spot," Sedric explained as he leaned on a nearby piece of rubble. He pulled out his scroll and sent a message. "I will give you this one chance to leave, and I'll even throw in Blaise. The guards are dragging him to the front gate as we speak. You have five minutes to get the hell out of here before my aid comes in."
"This isn't over, Sedric," Lucia said picking up Ruby bridal style and started to jog back to the front gate.
"Nice to see you too," Sedric replied pulling off his mask as Lucia turned the corner.
"Well what now?" Ruby asked Lucia as she carried the younger girl to the gate.
"We get Blaise, and get you to a hospital, the wrappings won't slow the blood flow for much longer," Lucia explained as they both came across a slumped over Blaise resting against the chain link fence.
"And how do you think you'll move both of us? Blaise can't move and I can't exactly walk right now."
"I have an idea," Lucia smirked as she looked at a nearby pickup. Setting Ruby down next to Blaise she wiped the sweat off of both of their foreheads then walked over to the pickup. Using some of her, ahem, totally legal skills, she opened the truck and hotwired the truck.
After driving the truck closer to the gate she moved both of the injured people into the truck's seat with Blaise resting in the backseat and Ruby sitting shotgun inspecting the railgun sniper rifle.
"So," Lucia said breaking the ice, "Your name is Ruby."
"And yours is Lucia," Ruby replied, "What about it?"
"Nothing, the drive is probably going to last for less than half an hour, so we might as well talk," Lucia said turning onto the tar road.
"So, you're Blaise's sister? I see the resemblance," Ruby said still not looking up from the sniper rifle.
"Well, we were only born two years apart. We were actually brunettes before," Lucia said, "Blue eyes too. Of course that changes when your crazy brother experiments on you."
"Oh," Ruby replied a little surprised at how easily Lucia was talking about this.
"What? Blaise didn't tell you about that?"
"A little."
"Well, to put it simply, we are strange faunus with grimm attributes. Those wendigos are what Blaise and I would be if the experiment failed. Now we can somewhat command grimm, which is what I did to keep those wendigos from ripping my face off," Lucia explained turning onto the highway into town.
"So why don't you become a huntress? If you can control grimm you could easily use that to help people."
"I have reasons. First, I don't particularly like humans for what they did to my family, actually all four of us didn't like humans that much, Blaise was the one that hated humans almost as much as Sedric. Second, I was good at being an assassin. Finally, I liked the money I got from being an assassin."
"Well, if you don't like humans, why are you even helping me?" Ruby asked looking at Lucia who turned into the hospital parking lot.
"Just because I don't like humans doesn't mean I want you all dead. Bring up a human vs. faunus debate and I will be strongly on the faunus side. Not to mention you're one of Blaise's friends, granted he has amnesia and probably likes humans now. Well, whatever, we're here," she said as she turned off the ignition and exited the truck to help Ruby out.
"What about Blaise?"
"He's not going anywhere," she said picking up Ruby and carrying her into the emergency room.
A couple minutes later Lucia came back to the truck and opened the smaller side door to get to Blaise.
"Come on big fella, your little friend is currently getting patched up, so now we," she grunted as she picked up Blaise and threw him over her shoulders, "have to wait for her. What do you eat to get this big? Three years ago you were about my height." She continued this one sided conversation all the way back to the emergency room gaining several strange looks from other people waiting to be helped.
"Ah, Miss Callahan," the doctor said coming over to Blaise and Lucia, "The procedure was successful and your sister can leave as soon as she gets dressed and you fill out these forms.."
"Thank you," Lucia said to the doctor. "Can we go see her?"
"Well, yes, but she will be coming out here in a few minutes, so we usually have paperwork being done during this period of time," he replied as Lucia was loading Blaise into a wheelchair.
"We'll only be a few minutes," she replied as she pushed Blaise around the corner.
"Hi," Ruby said to the two as they met in the hallway.
"Quickly follow me, we need to get out of here," Lucia said grabbing Ruby's arm and lead her down the hallway.
"What?" Ruby asked limping as she followed.
"We're not supposed to be here, and I told them you were my sister, now they want me to fill out paperwork and pay them, but since you're not my sister we could possibly be arrested for forgery if I were to fill out the paperwork," Lucia explained rounding a corner heading for an elevator.
"I could just fill out my own paperwork," she suggested.
"That would be a plan, if you were not supposed to be infiltrating a White Fang research facility, and I'm just going to guess Ozpin wasn't going to send a human student to a White Fang facility. That would be as stupid as sending a faunus to a Black Boot facility," Lucia said closing the elevator after pressing the ground floor button.
"So do you think we can just walk out the front door?"
"Not we, me," Lucia said pulling Blaise's hood over his face, "With the dust infused hood they should not notice Blaise and if you wear yours and push Blaise out of the door we should be able to get out easily."
"I guess that should make sense," Ruby replied pulling her hood over her head.
"Now no talking and slowly push Blaise out the door, after we get into the parking lot I'll take him the rest of the way," Lucia said looking away from the two as the doors opened.
"So back to Beacon I guess," Lucia said to Ruby in the truck after they managed to avoid the doctor's bill.
"I guess, but I think Yang will kill me when she sees this," Ruby said motioning to her wrapped up legs.
"Who?"
"My sister. Also she's Blasie's girlfriend," Ruby said then nearly smashed her head on the dashboard from Lucia slamming on the brakes.
"My little brother has a girlfriend?" she asked looking between Blaise in the back and Ruby. "And she's a human?"
"Yeah, and…?"
"I'm seriously surprised, I should meet her. Is she the jealous type?" Lucia asked pressing her foot back on the gas.
"I don't quite think that would be a good idea."
"Let me rephrase that. I am going to meet her," Lucia chuckled as she increased the truck's speed towards the airship port.
"So where is the dolt now?" Weiss asked the two remaining members of team RWBY.
"I do not know," Blake said looking up from her book, "but she did leave a note saying she went to a weapons convention."
"Yeah but, she forgot her scroll, Yang, you of all should know this is strange."
"I know, it is a blessing in disguise," Yang replied rolling upside down on her bed to look at the heiress. "Anyway, it has been less than half a day."
"What? Why?" Weiss asked surprised at Yang's response.
"You would be this relieved too if you knew what Ruby usually does at those conventions. After 350 pictures of her with various weapons and several news stories about the Lady in Red causing destruction at the convention centers, you will not want her to take her scroll with her."
"How does having a scroll relate to destruction stories on the news?"
"She was talking to me on her scroll each of the times she was handling the newest dust grenade models, and it always ended with, 'Oops,'" Yang said looking out the window seeing a dust airship landing on the Beacon landing pads. "If you ever want to know how she's doing just go onto the weapons convention website and look at the new articles for a name called, 'Little Rambo.'"
"Little Rambo and the Lady in Red?" Blake asked leaning over the edge of her bed to look at her partner.
"Little Rambo is a fun little ball of energy, Lady in Red is a terrorist," Yang explained the difference between them.
"Still shouldn't we at least check up on her?" Weiss asked then Yang tossed her scroll at the heiress already on the website.
"You can check, I am getting some damn sleep."
"So we're finally back," Ruby said sitting down on a bed in Lucia's room resting her leg on the bed. "And what are we going to do with him? He's been out since last night." She pointed at Blaise who was still knocked out laying on one of the beds.
"Well, I think we should stay here until he wakes up," Lucia suggested sitting down on her bed.
"Won't your team…" Ruby trailed off as Lucia looked at her, "Oh right, super assassin."
"Well, you hungry?"
"Starving," Ruby replied about to stand up before Lucia motioned for her to stop.
"You currently are not allowed to leave this room. We need someone to look after Blaise and you're not even supposed to be back from that weapons convention you were telling me about," she said putting her beret on her head covering her ears and grabbing her spare sunglasses.
Yay! Migraine! No amount of tylenol can cure this brain ache.
Anyway, Blaise has been a burden to the two of them the entire time, also I forgot to put one last joke in this one so I will just say this bluntly. Lucia just stole a wheelchair, you think she just left it at the coast, no she didn't want to carry Blaise all the way to Beacon or have the crippled reaper have to carry him. You can make up a witty joke by yourself involving that bit of information. I need to sleep or something I don't know.
So prepare for socially awkward interactions at the cafeteria in the next chapter. It may take a few days for it to actually be written, also some more information for you guys that I will put in to a new paragraph so people skimming the A/N will see it.
I am possibly going to start writing a new story, and I'm thinking of doing AQRS trailers just because I personally like them almost as much as BLZE.
I need more advil,
