Hello everybody, I am J. Van A, the malevolent force only in control of the BLZEing Remnant universe who likes to put my OCs through hell and back, and on occasion killing one. Well anyway, this is the newest chapter and this one is basically all action, and it serves as an intro for a couple of the Mutated Grimm.

"This is the mutated beowolf," Lucia said gesturing to the cage from her balcony, "It looks like a regular one except for its larger temper. They typically have claws that can ignite on fire to do more damage for each attack, and they are faster than the typical beowolf. Which is why we are pinning Zaria Vassos against it. With her semblance we should be able see the grimm fight without getting injured."
With that the buzzer rang and the door to the cage dropped letting the enraged grimm loose on the redhead. Drawing her dust blades she inserted a white crystal into the katanas' handle giving the metal a white glow fast enough for her to block the flaming strike causing ice to form around the beowolf's claw. Jumping up she placed both feet on the Alpha Beowolf's armored chest preparing to jump off, but before she could the grimm swung its ice covered claw hitting Zaria throwing her into the ground breaking the ice.
Rolling away from the grimm she swung at its knees forming ice on its left knee preventing movement. The beowolf retaliated with swinging a flaming claw at Zaria hitting her in the chest with her aura protecting her.
After sheathing one blade she reached over to her wrist with her free hand to her other wrist to grab the grapple hook and pull out the wire slightly. Jumping at the beowolf she blocked the strike with her sword she quickly looped the wire around its claw. Dodging its next strike she bolted to the left under its claw. Then she jumped up and used the wire as an anchor making her fly over its shoulder.
Dodging it attack from its free claw she looped the other claw and jumped again using the wire to pivot around the beast's neck wrapping around a couple times. Landing on the grimm's chest she pulled the wire rendering the arms immobile. Using her free arm she pulled out her dust katana and stabbed it into the beowolf's mouth exiting out of the base of the beowolf's skull. Not taking her chances she pressed the button on the best of her handle activating the ice dust causing the beowolf's skull to burst apart leaving bloodstained ice behind.
Popping the grapple off of her wrist she gracefully landed on the middle of the arena in a slight bow as she sheathed her swords.
"The Bloodhound, usually harmless in small numbers," Lucia said, "but the mutated version has an electrified jaw. So we collected ten of them. Eva should be protected since her semblance allows her to be more observant, at least that's what she told me, but I swear it has something to do with her kicks."
The buzzer sounded off releasing the ten bloodhounds. Firing off an arrow from her position she hit the first bloodhound with an explosive arrow killing two of them. Then she activated the longbow's transform mech and threw it into the air. Drawing her spear she turned it into its crossbow form and fired off an ice bolt hitting another one of the bloodhounds causing ice spikes to form from the arrow impaling two more bloodhounds killing them.
Activating her crossbow's transform mech she threw it into the air similar to her longbow to transform. Reaching into the sheath on the back of her belt she pulled out a throwing knife and threw it at another bloodhound's killing it. Reaching to her left she caught the longsword in just enough time to bring the sword down and arc it upward and swing it killing two more of the bloodhounds.
Dropping the longsword she caught the spear then impaled the second to last bloodhound to the ground. Using the shaft of the spear as a firm base she looked at the grimm and activated her semblance. For a brief moment she imagined Blaise's face on the grimm making a gremlin comment. Then deactivating her semblance she kicked hitting the bloodhound breaking its neck sending the grimm into the wall.
Collecting her weapons she turned to leave the arena ignoring the applause.
"The Deathstalker is traditionally a difficult grimm to beat," Lucia said from her balcony, "but this kind is even worse. It is able to strike faster with its stinger and cause the ground to explode with contact. We will be having Lapis Leathart fight this kind of grimm since he has beaten it before and probably will do it better than Blaise could." She paused to look at Blaise whole rolled his eyes and nodded. "Now then Lapis, don't make this too fast."
The cage door dropped releasing the deathstalker who started things off with impaling the ground causing a large chunk of concrete to fly at Lapis who just had enough time to pull out his battle axe and cut the concrete to pieces.
Starting his charge at the grimm and at around halfway to it he stopped. Grabbing the base of the battle axe he started to spin. Then he released the shaft throwing the axe at the grimm piercing the base of the stinger.
Dodging the grimm's pincer he jumped up and planted a foot on the deathstalker's face. With the assistance of his semblance he jumped at the stinger just as it started to strike it with it. Grabbing the shaft with his left hand he pushed the stinger to the right and continued with his ascent breaking the axe out of the stinger causing the wound to get bigger.
Catching the tail he pivoted his ascent throwing him toward the ground. Activating his semblance he swung with his axe at the base of the stinger cutting it off impaling it slightly into the deathstalker's head.
After landing on the ground he jumped into the air and with activating his semblance he swung down with the broad side of the axe. Hitting the top of the stinger he forced the stinger into the deathstalker's head impaling it into the ground killing it.
Back in the stands after Blaise had finished clapping for his partner he stood up and started heading to the stairs only to be met by his sister.
"I'm only going to tell you this once, don't howl and control the Tarantulus. You need to fight it like a normal hunter in training because I'm pretty sure the other people in this room can't control grimm," she said and Blaise nodded passing her.
"The Tarantulus," Lucia said introducing the grimm in the large cage, "I know your usual grimm studies hasn't gone over them yet so I'll go over them quick. Large, alpha's to the arachne, can spit acid from their mouths, their poison can kill within seconds, and their webbing as far as we know can only be burned away. The mutated version is bigger and has aura piercing claws at the ends on their legs making them more useful for destruction than climbing. They also are able to emit poisonous gases from their blood if it comes in contact with the air that for some reason stay grounded. Since the mutated version is more specialized to kill people it cannot harm grimm with its poison. Because Blaise's semblance is to ignite Campione made aura piercing blades or his claws he is probably best set off for this one so he could burn away the webbing. Since this grimm is very dangerous, if at any point during this battle if Blaise is about to be mortally wounded we have long ranged second year students stationed around the room to kill the grimm as fast as they can. Now, let's begin."
Before the buzzer could even ring the Tarantulus got mad and shit some acid at the cage lock catching everyone off guard as it burst out of the cage. It lunged at Blaise just as he engaged his broadswords to redirect the two legs into the ground.
It reared its head back making Blaise realize what it was doing. Blaise quickly jumped out of the way as it spat acid disengaging his broadsword to roll faster. After standing back on his feet he pulled out one cutlass and one pistol. Aiming he fired off one round hitting one of the arachne's knees breaking off one of the legs releasing the gas.
Avoiding one more strike from a leg he landed right under the Tarantulus's upper body and was about to strike upward before the spinnerets shot webbing throwing Blaise into the wall. Quickly activating his semblance he burned way the webbing before another leg shot forward barely missing him.
Aiming his pistol at the grimm's head he fired off a round that barely even knocked its head back slightly. It didn't seem to like what Blaise was doing so it jumped back for a second before lunging forward at Blaise turning its body into a projectile.
Blocking with his sword and pistol he managed to protect himself, but the end result was the legs knocking both the sword and pistol out of his hands and him flying farther out. The Tarantulus continued its slow approach breaking the ground with each step. At this point several of the second year students had their fingers resting on their triggers aiming at the grimm's head.
Pulling out his second pistol he quickly loaded a new clip into the pistol and aimed it at the grimm. Pulling the trigger the bullet hit the grimm causing it to be pulled towards the wall but didn't fall as Blaise was expecting. Looking at the ground he saw what appeared to be drag marks from the Tarantulus trying to slay in the same spot.
'So… gravity rounds didn't do as much good as I was hoping for,' Blaise thought to himself as he reached for his sword but stopped and had an idea.
Focusing some aura into his legs he ran straight at the grimm. Just as he reached under the grimm he jumped at the bottom of the grimm with a fist reeled back. Throwing one fist into the bottom of the grimm the spider slightly came out of the ground which was enough for him. Firing the railgun pistol the bullet connected with the abdomen of the Tarantulus knocking the beats gravity back throwing it into the wall.
"Yeah! Punch it till it dies!" Lucia cheered from her balcony only to receive strange looks from just about everyone.
Not taking a moments break he aimed his pistol behind him and fired a round throwing him at the grimm. Pulling out his sword in mid flight he activated his semblance and aimed it right at the grimm on the wall and impaled it into the grimm receiving a faceful of gases.
"You idiot!" Lucia shouted as Blaise jumped off of the grimm without his sword now and shook his head slightly.
Jumping back he grabbed the previously lost pistol and sword and repeated the process to stab the Tarantulus again only to receive another faceful of gases. Before jumping off the grimm he holstered the pistol and grabbed the handles of both cutlasses. Pulling the triggers on the blades Blaise created two large holes in the grimm as he jumped off the grimm.
Standing back up on solid ground the Tarantulus only looked more pissed as large amounts of green gas started filling up the arena. Spitting acid at Blaise, he activated his semblance just in time to cut the fluid igniting it sending the fire down the stream into the grimm's face causing a small explosion and the Tarantulus.
'Tarantulus acid is flammable, good to know,' Blaise thought as he sheathed his swords and pulled out his pistols and shot off two more legs releasing even more gas.
"You dumbass!" Lucia shouted at him. "Kill it soon or you're going to be poisoned!" Her only response from him was a nod and a thumbs up. "He hasn't breathed this whole time has he?" she silently asked herself considering using her semblance to save him.
The Tarantulus then threw itself at Blaise hitting him in the chest knocking the wind out of him forcing him to take a deep breath.
"Fucking Murphy's Law," she said to herself as she jumped out of the balcony with Excalibur in hand.
Running forward she tackled the Tarantulus off of Blaise. Activating her semblance the poisonous gases moved away from Blaise who was still trying to recover. Flicking her free hand to the side the gas in the room started to swirl.
"And this is why I am qualified to be a huntress!" she shouted to the students in the arena just as a tornado formed in the middle of the room sucking up the gas.
Jumping at the Tarantulus she swung Excalibur down on the grimm's head plate creating a crack in the armor. Then with her free hand she threw it to the ground just as wind crashed into it tearing apart the grimm's head killing it.
"Now then, on to more important matters," she said brushing some dirt off of her shoulders. Then she grabbed Blaise and threw him over her shoulder. Then she walked out of the arena and started heading to the medical wing.
So yeah, this was a short chapter, well short compared to other ones I've done in the past, but it does get its point across. Mutated Grimm are dangerous.
Also I threw in Lucia's semblance, control over the air.
So we have a person who can control water, fire, and air. Now we just need someone who can control rock and then we need to find the Avatar.
Well anyway I need to post this soon because I'm in my study hall right now.
