Muahahaha, I have returned after days of inactivity with the newest chapter of a BLZEing Remnant where we are now discovering the secrets of the past.
So anyway, this chapter kind of moves fast and it sets up what is going to happen in the next chapter.
"So, this is like our third official mission," Zaria said walking with the rest of team BLZE still in their casual clothing to the airship docks with their weapons and spare clothes in average sized travel suitcases. "Sometimes I think Ozpin doesn't like our team and that is why he's sending us on more missions than other first years so we don't possibly damage Beacon."
"Well," Blaise said slinging his backpack over his shoulder, "we are not the most destructive team in Beacon, but we do have our moments though. Anyway, I do a lot of work for Ozpin and he does tell me things sometimes. Did you guys know there is a first year team that has gone on seven missions? I actually think they're on another one right now."
"Which team are they?" Lapis asked heaving his heavy armor case under his arm.
"I don't know, I think they're a three person team with a dog or something," Blaise replied then looked up at the sky. "Eva, when is the ship coming in?"
"Well, I talked with Frank and he's going to arrive in a few minutes," Eva replied checking her clock.
"So will there be enough room?" Alex asked.
"Well of course, it's not a passenger ship but it is significantly larger than the small transport ships Beacon has… wait a second," Eva said then turned around to see a smiling team AQRS with backpacks resting on the ground next to their legs.
"Hello," Quinton greeted giving a slight wave.
"What are you doing here?" Zaria asked then scanned the area trying to find her adopted sister.
"We are here to help," Shizuko said then flicked the back of Zaria's head causing her to jump, more specifically, to cling to Lapis' back.
"Ahh! Why do you keep doing that?!"
"Because it's fun to watch you freak out," Shizuko replied with a cheeky grin.
"So what's the deal?" Lapis asked his brother as Zaria glared at her sister from his back.
"Oh yeah," Quinton said, "We thought that we would come along and help."
"We can handle ourselves just fine," Blaise said in a slightly irritated tone.
"Oh, is that why every mission you guys go on you nearly die," Alex said poking Blaise in the shoulder.
"Fine, shut up," Blaise said brushing his hand away, "You can come along, just don't do anything stupid."
"We're coming along to make sure you guys don't do anything stupid."
"So you're coming along to make sure Blaise doesn't do anything stupid," Eva said and pulled out her scroll. "Now I'm going to start searching that address on the net and see what I can find."
"That probably would be a good plan," Blaise admitted.
A couple moments later the Revenant Wing landed on the docks and the side opened up letting the teams in.
"So," Blaise said getting Eva's attention as he sat down next to her on the couch, "What did you find on Eriford?"
"Well, all I could find was some business listings and a newspaper article on a memorial," she replied then turned to look at Blaise. "So what did the note say?"
"What note?" Blaise asked knowing exactly what she was talking about.
"Don't play stupid. Fast hands and tricks might work on other people, but I can slow my perception of time. I saw you pull a small note from the inside of that mask. So what did it say?" she asked leaning in and glared at him.
"See for yourself," Blaise said taking the small note out of his pocket and tossed it at her, "It really is pointless."
Picking it up she read only one simple word: blood. "Blood? Why would someone even bother sending you this message. It is pointless. Is it supposed to be a symbol, or a password?"
"Beats me," Blaise said leaning back into the couch, "The mask is cool though. It has a built in computer that I can't seem to figure out the password to, and I already tried 'Blood'."
"Well, this is going to be somewhat problematic. I guess we're going to have to wait till we land in Eriford to see what that means."
"Yeah, I guess."
"So this is it?" Alex asked as both teams assembled in the middle of the empty street in the small town. "There's nothing here. I've been to three house villages with more people."
"I know what you're talking about," Blaise said sheathing his swords on his belt and then drew a pistol and held it at the ready. "I think now is an appropriate time to be cautious."
"I agree," Alex said then nodded at his team as Blaise motioned for them to get ready. Each team quickly pulled their weapons onto themselves and drew their main weapons to hold at the ready. During this time both Quinton and Lapis put their armor packs onto their backs and pressed the button on their wristbands activating the mechanisms expanding the armor over themselves.
"So what now?" Quinton asked just before his helmet closed over his face.
"Well, I think we should go find any civilians and see what the trouble is," Alex said before Blaise turned to him.
"Alright, here's the plan," Blaise said as the two teams got close. "AQRS, you all are going to split into two groups to search the town for civilians. BLZE, we are going to split into two teams also, but we are going to try to find any evidence as to what happened here. Got it?"
"Yeah," Reita replied. "Quinton and Shizuko, you're one team. Alex, you and I are the other."
"Who's team leader?" Alex asked his teammate.
"You were about to say the same thing," she simply replied and Alex shrugged in response. Moments later the two sub teams of AQRS had dispersed leaving BLZE on the street alone.
"Ok," Eva said getting everyone's attention, "Zaria and Lapis, you guys check the south and east. Blaise and I will check the north and west."
"What is this, new leadership day?" Blaise asked only getting a glare from her. "Fine."
"Alright, let's go," Lapis said and Zaria jumped onto his shoulders as they left.
"So, is there some reason why you made us a sub team?" Blaise asked.
"Simple, blood."
"So, was this exactly what you were expecting for when you said you wanted to come along on a mission?" Reita asked her team leader as they opened another shop to see if there is anyone in there.
"You know, I was expecting more mutated grimm," Alex replied as Reita left the shop and poked him in the chest as she passed.
"Granted those chances are higher we-" she stopped as soon as she heard some rumbling in an alley. "There."
Entering the alley they didn't find anyone. Looking up they saw just in time a pair of feet disappearing onto the roof.
"Alex, lift, now," Reita said then Alex threw a blue dust crystal onto the ground. With the help of his semblance she created a water platform under them both and lifted them to the roof. They arrived to the roof just in time to see the black figure jump off the roof onto the next building. "Hey! You! Stop right there! We have some questions for you!" Reita shouted to the figure.
"Yes, because yelling at the person will make them stop," Alex sighed as he used his semblance to push the water platform forward to pursue the figure.
"Something doesn't seem right," Lapis said to his impromptu partner as they neared the library.
"I know," Zaria said looking around the area. "Sometimes I seriously wish my semblance was something similar to Eva's."
"Yeah, I know the advantages to it, but mine fits me better," Lapis said then cut Zaria off before she even spoke. "Do you hear that?" Quieting down they both listened in and heard the distinct sound of footsteps, a lot of them. "Zaria, be ready to fight."
"You don't have to tell me tw-" she said before getting cut off by a small dart hitting her neck causing her to fall over.
"Son of a-"
"So," Blaise said trying to get a conversation going as they both turned a corner.
"What?" Eva asked as she aimed her crossbow into the small shop as she opened the door.
"Should we check the park?" he asked looking over to the wooded area about two blocks over. Then suddenly he felt a small pain on the side of his head.
"We will check it when we get over there," she replied closing the door. "At the moment we are checking every building hoping to find someone who can explain what is going on."
Ignoring the pain in his head he reached into this cargo pants' pocket and pulled out a small set of binoculars. "Well, just let me get a small look over the area," he said looking through them, "Nothing, nothing, nothing, wait, I think I have something."
"What did you find?" she asked turning to him.
"I think I see people, surrounding a large statue."
"Well what are they doing?"
"I don't exactly know, but I think the dust assault rifles aren't a good sign."
"Reita, have you ever felt like you're being watched?" Alex asked as they walked down the alley trying to follow the figure.
"Alex, focus on the problem here," Reita retorted.
"Just answer the question."
"Yes…" she said looking around the alley drawing her shortsword.
"Just great," Alex said throwing a dust crystal in the air just in time to see six hooded figures jump off the roof. He ignored the crystal and quickly swung the kriegsmesser sword at the figure it ducked and hit Alex on the bottom of the hand causing him to drop the sword.
Then the hooded figure spun around and hit him on the inside of the knee causing the knee to bend. Another hooded figure jumped into the quick battle and put Alex in a sleeper hold fast enough to knock him out.
Reita was holding her own for a couple moments exchanging blows with about three of the figures. Then Alex was knocked out and was being dragged away by two of the extra figures. Wielding the sniper rifle in her right hand and the shortsword in the other she started to deal blows with each of the weapons. Every time she tried to fire a round into another one of the figures they dodged at the last moment.
Right after she fired her last shot in her clip the hooded figure moved in quick pulling a knife from their sheath they stabbed at the rifle between the scope and the rifle. Forcing the knife up the figure twisted the rifle out of her hands. Then it threw a punch hitting Reita in the head.
Then three other figures quickly restrained Reita by holding her arms and legs. Then the fourth figure went behind her and put her into a sleeper hold until she fell unconscious.
"Alright so relay the plan to me again," Eva said to her impromptu partner as they jumped onto another tree closing in on the group of soldiers surrounding the statue.
"Simple, we reach them, I jump down and try to talk to them. If they try to attack we then retaliate with me on the ground and you from the trees," Blaise explained as they were right next to the group of soldiers.
"Alright, just making sure you aren't going to do anything stupid."
"Eva, have we met?" he asked sarcastically as he jumped from his tree to the ground. "Hello, may I have your attention please? I am a Beacon student and leader of team BLZE sent to this town to investigate a strange package. Can someone please explain to me why the town is empty and you guys are possibly defacing a public memorial?"
"Blood…" one of the soldiers said looking at Blaise sounding more like a computer generated voice.
"Great, robots," Blaise mumbled as he reached for his pistol.
"Blood…" several more robots said as they started to march towards Blaise slowly raising their rifles.
"Hey! Back off!" Blaise shouted as he aimed his pistol at the group and charged it up.
"Identification confirmed -Blood Moon-" the lead robot said then its face lit up with the soldiers behind its' faces lighting up as well.
"Blood Moon?" Blaise asked then a sharp pain was felt on the side of his head forcing him to cringe and hold the spot.
"Requesting backup, Protocol: Blood Moon," a robot said then all the faces of the group turned red and aimed their rifles at Blaise.
"Blood Moon," Blaise said in a deeper voice releasing his head not feeling the pain anymore. "Seems like you guys are getting better." He then pulled out his second pistol and fired six bullets into the group blowing apart several of the robots. "And I thought The Order would have upgraded their army since last time we tangled."
Throwing his pistols into their holsters he activated his broadswords and charged into the group. Just before the two groups collided Blaise twisted his torso and pivoted his foot to increase his swing. Slashing through the first row of robots he planted his other foot and spun again to destroy several more robots.
"What the hell?" Eva asked as she witnessed this happening.
Blaise had started to laugh maniacally as he turned into what seemed to be a tornado of destruction. Reaching the last robot he stopped to face it. Looking each other in the eyes for a moment Blaise quickly shot his arms upward to cut the robot's arms off at the shoulder then he spun around to cut the legs off at the knees and watched as the robot landed on the ground.
"Now then I take it you're transmitting this to your leader," Blaise silently said kneeling over the robot's head while slowly drawing his cutlass Revenge. "So I have a message for you. I am back motherfucker. You may think you've scared me away, but think again. So bring your armies of robots. I only have one request, leader to leader. Come here yourself and end this little game." He waited for a couple moments for the message to transmit before he quickly thrust his sword down into the robots face and pulled the trigger on the sword.
"Blaise, what is going on?" Eva asked jumping down from the tree.
Without even saying another word Blaise took off in a sprint. After he was a somewhat decent distance away from her he jumped into the air and snapped his fingers once and let the gravity boots do their work taking him into the town.
"Well shit," Eva said taking out her scroll looking for Lapis' number. Dialing it she only got the voicemail. Dialing Zaria's number she only got the voicemail again. "What is going on?" Going through her contacts she pulled up Alex's number and Reita's number only to receive the voicemail on each. She even tried Blaise's number only to find that he dropped his scroll on his dash out. Then she called Quinton and finally managed to get an answer.
'Hello.'
"Quinton, something has gone seriously wrong. I can't contact Lapis, Zaria, Alex, or even Reita. And Blaise ran off without any explanation," she frantically said into the scroll.
'Wait, you can't get into contact with any of them?'
"No, that is what I've been saying. Blaise ran off and dropped his phone after destroying a group of robots. He said something about 'The Order' and 'The Brothers' then ran off."
'Well, where are you now? We'll come by and get you.'
"I'm by the memorial in the town park."
'There's a memorial?'
"Yeah, I didn't think it was important enough to read the article when I did the initial research, but then Blaise saw the robot soldiers around it. Then they said something about Blood Moon to him and everything went to shit."
'Well, what does the memorial say? Maybe there was a reason the robots surrounded it.'
"Well, just give me a moment. The plaque is written in some old Vacuoian language before the countries decided a single one," she said then turned to the statue. Looking at it for a moment she saw it was of some guy wearing a long coat. Then near the bottom of the coat the man had his foot propped against someone's chest who was leaning against a rock. Getting a closer look at the man she could not mistake the gun in his hands and the sword pointed at the ground. "This doesn't make any sense."
'What? What is it?'
"It's Blaise."
Finally, a cliff hanger! I thought that we would never get one of those again for a long time.
So anyway, quick recap. Lapis and Zaria have been kidnapped along with Alex and Reita by the hooded people. Blaise... is being Blaise and ran of to do Blaise things. The town of Eriford is empty except for two factions that seem to not cooperate (Oh yeah, I don't own Assassin's Creed). Eva, Shizuko, and Quinton are now going to have to get down to the bottom of things. Meanwhile Frank is probably smoking a big cigar in the Revenant Ring wearing some big shades and a flight jacket with the Manos corporation symbol on it.
Well anyway, next chapter we will learn about the two factions in Eriford. Maybe Frank will do something awesome.
Oh yeah, k wolf omega... needs more railguns.
