Hello everybody, my name is J. Van A and SCHOOL IS FINALLY OVER! My brain nearly melted from my chemistry final, but it was worth it because my chem teacher said I knew what the answers were and only got about 14 wrong, but just between all of you and me... I completely bullshitted through the whole thing. At one point in there I was just writing the first thing that came to my mind. I seriously think for a seven point question I just wrote 'seagulls' and it was about calculating pH or something.
Ok, ramble time is over. This chapter's plot kind of moves fast, but I just needed to tie up some loose ends and throw in one plot twist along with potential ships.
Enjoy
"So that surprisingly worked," Reita said pushing away Quinton's shield to see what had happened.
The EMP had worked. When the pulse was sent out it destroyed the robot's circuits and threw each robot back to the ends of the streets. Pyrrha collapsed from exhaustion from using her semblance to that extent. Everyone else had been thrown along with the blast from the gravity dust, but luckily for them they landed safely.
"It's kind of interesting that the best plan came from a student than the scientist," Quinton said standing back up.
"Hey, I am an inventor, not a tactician," Lucius defended himself. "I created gravity boots and a new kind of dust. Also I made the blood transfusion tech that saved our asses."
"Good point."
"Has anyone seen Blaise?" Eva asked.
"Last I saw he was flying the carrier ship to Wilkerson's camp," Lapis replied.
"Should we go over there?"
"No, that won't be necessary," Logan said pointing down the street past the broken robots. Over there was Blaise walking back carrying his jacket.
"So should we head back to Beacon?" Alex asked.
"We probably should. Frank can take all of us on the Revenant Wing after he drops off the rest of the assassins," Eva said taking her spear out of a wall since it had been impaled there after the explosion. "Lucius can load the high speed ship onto his cargo ship and fly back to the Manos hanger. And I'm pretty sure you three can take care of things here."
"Believe it or not, but we've dealt with bigger messes," Logan answered her.
"Mostly from Blaise," Ozella added.
"Well, I'll call Frank and we can be on our way," Eva said pulling out her scroll.
"Well, this has been been an interesting day," Lapis said sitting down next to Jaune who had a sleeping Pyrrha resting her head on his lap.
"Yeah," Jaune answered brushing some strands of Pyrrha's hair off of her face. "So is this what a normal mission with you guys is like?"
"Well, no," Lapis answered, "Blaise didn't nearly die this time. Other than that, yeah. Last mission we were on Blaise actually had his own swords shoved through his chest."
"Ouch."
"Yeah, well good thing Lucius was there. Now I have come to alleviate you of Pyrrha duty. There are pancakes in the mess hall, Nora insisted."
"Alright, but is she wakes up tell me," Jaune said lifting her head from his lap and slid out. Then he placed a pillow under her head and left.
"Alright, he's gone. You can stop pretending to be sleeping."
"You're no fun," Pyrrha mumbled as she rolled over on the couch.
"Ow," Blaise winced as he pulled his head away from Eva's cleaning swab.
"Quit moving," Eva demanded holding Blaise's chin, "If you don't stop moving then this won't get clean then it will get infected, and when that happens I won't be here to help."
"Just get it over with," Blaise said turning his face to her.
"Still can't believe you shaved," Eva said holding Blaise's chin. "I thought you really liked that short beard."
"Well that's what happened," Blaise replied. "In order to wear the combat suit properly I needed to wear the face mask, and sadly that requires shaved skin."
"I'm not saying it's a bad thing," she said pressing the cleaning swab against the open wound making him wince from pain. "You know, you're lucky he didn't cut your eye."
"He got a lucky shot."
"Now I am going to put in the temporary stitches," she said pulling out a needle and thread from the first aid kit. "It is going to hurt so no whining."
"Give me your best shot," he smirked.
"So, what are we going to do with all the supplies Blaise's brother gave us? Nora, pass me the syrup," Zaria said looking at the Valkyrie who was pouring said syrup onto a comically large stack of pancakes threatening to fall over.
"We should probably donate them to the school," Ren suggested snatching the syrup bottle from Nora and tossed it to Zaria without looking away from his herbal tea. "With the medical dust solutions more students who come back from missions injured can return to school faster. And with the gravity dust rounds it could help more students in their fighting, like Jaune."
"Hey!"
"If he were to use a pistol, then if he were fighting against a much stronger grimm he could hit the beast allowing him to request help or get in a better fighting stance."
"I resent that."
"Or other students like Nora, who have a specific weapon they use that is designed to knock back opponents then gravity dust rounds will prove useful in their fighting style."
"Mrrr famfcffks fwlese," Nora said sliding her plate over to Ren who picked it up and walked over to the stove.
"In any case donating them to Beacon would be the most logical choice. Not to mention, this could open trade between Beacon and the Manos Corporation proving mutually beneficial for both parties," he said placing the stack of pancakes next to Nora who formed a wide grin before impaling the top of the stack.
"Well, we would probably need Eva to agree to this since those are technically her property," Zaria said before a loud shout resonated through the ship followed by laughter, "but she seems to be busy now."
"I'm so sorry," Eva said laughing, "I forgot to give you anesthetics. There are some nerves in the face that send very strong pain signals to the brain."
"You did that on purpose," Blaise pouted holding his throbbing face nearly crying.
"Oh shut up baby, you lived through having your own swords shoved through your chest. If you can live through that, you can deal with having a tiny needle pierce through a little skin."
"Well, I was technically dead when I had my swords shoved through my chest."
"We're almost done," Eva said grabbing Blaise's chin and holding it firm. Then with her free hand she continued the stitching and moments later it was done. Releasing Blaise's chin he curled over grabbing at his face.
After the pain subsided he sat straight looking at Eva.
"Well, it's not the best work, but it was the best I could do," Eva said observing Blaise's stitchings. "I hope you don't mind the Frankenstein look."
"Ha ha, very funny," Blaise said before Eva stood at his level. "What?" he asked then she slapped him on his good side of his face. "What was that for?"
"You are a complete idiot!" she shouted in his face. "You went against Wilkerson by yourself! If you were slightly slower we would probably not be having this conversation! Did you ever stop and think about that?! NO! Because you're Blaise CampFUCKione! You're invincible! And if you were to somehow die, you would be saved by some crazy miracle! Right?!" she asked him with tears forming in her eyes. "Think about what would've happened to us if you would've died. We don't care if you're an assassin and killed people. You're our friend. So next time you think about doing something STUPID!" She raised her hand about to slap him before she stopped right above his face. "Bring one of us along."
She then turned and left the medical bay.
"So what happened in there?" Alex asked Eva as she entered the dining area.
"I sewed up his face," she explained in a monotone as she sat down on one of the chairs.
"So how does he look?" Jaune asked finishing his pancakes.
"Well, he has long stitches going down his left side of his face, and a huge red mark on the right."
"I take it I shouldn't ask."
"Yeah."
"Alright ladies, gents, and franken wolves," Frank said over the loudspeaker causing Blaise to throw a box at the speaker in the medical bay. "We are approaching Beacon airspace so we should be there within the hour."
"Thanks Frank," Eva said into her microphone in the dining hall, "Make sure to radio ahead to Beacon so they don't shoot you down the the newly installed dust cannon sentries."
"Will do, your dad would have me murdered if this ship would be destroyed."
"Someone go wake up Pyrrha. We probably should get off the ship as soon as it lands so Frank can return the Revenant Wing back to Mistral. Also someone should get Blaise before we land."
"Not necessary," a voice said from the doorway. When they turned to see who said it they saw Blaise there with his hood over his head covering his face. "I found some painkillers. After we land I'm going to the medical wing. Sound like a plan?"
"Everything seems according to plan," Sedric said to his assistant looking over the files on his desk. "Over 2,000 mutated faunus in this facility alone ready to be released into the world."
"Sir, the lieutenant has come here to see you," his assistant said to im.
"Send him in, and then you may go back to your accommodations," Sedric commanded. "So to what do I owe the pleasure of your visit?"
"A message from the queen," the Lieutenant replied sitting down in the chair across from Sedric.
"Well, let's hear it."
"She told me to tell you this. You have achieved your goal of creating an army for the White Fang rivaling the military. You should be proud of that."
"Well that doesn't really require a special visit-"
"But, there are some⦠complications in our plans."
"What are you talking about?" Sedric asked starting to get uneasy.
"You see, your first attempt on Xais Cay was a failure due to complications, then you were captured for several months, and your second attempt on the coast was also a failure. That, according to the queen, is three strikes. That means you're out."
"So, that's that huh," Sedric said walking over to the window overlooking the wendigo cages, "Even after all I've done for the White Fang. When you fulfil your purpose, you're out. I take it you had my assistant change the program in the mutants' microchips so that I can't kill them all, so my scroll is useless at this point."
"Yes," the Lieutenant said standing up from his chair. "I hope there is no hard feelings."
"No, no there are not," Sedric said opening the window allowing a breeze in. "Tell me something Lieutenant. Do you enjoy following a queen who has no face?"
"What do you mean by that?"
"Oh, you know. All the White Fang members were told one day by their superiors to just follow this nameless, faceless person dubbed 'The Queen,' who only gives out orders and the only image associated with her is a chess piece," Sedric said making the Lieutenant stand up to approach Sedric only to be stopped by Sedric raising a hand. "I know, you trust your superiors. For me, my nature is to go against the common rule. I guess that's why I joined the White Fang to begin with. Now Lieutenant, I consider you one of my friends, so I won't make you bear the burden of my death. Anyway, if I was going to die, I think the best way would be by my own hand with something I made. Goodbye, friend. Stay safe." With a final wave Sedric jumped out of the window to the awaiting wendigos.
That night, the wendigos didn't rattle their cages from hunger.
"So how bad is it?" Lapis asked Blaise as he entered the room from his visit to the medical wing.
"Not that bad," Blaise said laying down on his bed, "They took out the stitches after they found some healing dust, courtesy of the Manos Corporation, and they did a small check up. I left before they gave me the final results though. Can't tell someone they can't fight if they're not there."
"Of course, Franken Wolf," Lapis smirked, "Can't finish proper medical examinations so that the school can determine if you're healthy or not. By the way, the nurses sent me a message. You're not clear for combat classes for a week."
"Fuck!"
"Their new system is very effective," Eva commented playing a game on her laptop.
"Do my eyes deceive me?" Blaise asked jumping from his bed to look over in Eva's direction. "Eva Manos, is using a computer for gaming?"
"Well, we don't have schoolwork to do," she said closing the screen. "Also I do have fun every once in a while."
"Really! You know how to have fun?" Blaise sarcastically asked only to receive a wireless mouse to the face. "Ow! Still sore!"
"Your own fault."
"Are you still going on about that?"
"Yes I am, because you're a complete idiot."
"Aw, come on, just to be fair I did stop that maniac from coming in and killing everyone. With his halberd and skills he could've easily have mortally wounded someone. I've fought against him before so I had the best chance of survival when fighting him. I never had any time to explain that to you after you slapped and yelled at me in the medical bay. Anyone who would've gone with me would've surely died," Blaise said nearly yelling at Eva without realizing it. Stopping himself before he continued he sat back down on his bed. "Look, you guys wouldn't have been able to fight Wilkerson without taking a few hits yourself. The aura piercing blades are a force to be reckoned with, if you don't have proper training to either use or avoid the blades, the stupid thing to do would be to send someone in to fight against it." He stood up and headed to the door. "Now, Ozpin is probably expecting me to give a report since we asked him to send in JNPR to the field. "So if you'll excuse me." He pulled his coat off of the hanger next to the door and left the room.
"He does know that spring break had about another week and a half left, right?" Zara asked Lapis who just chuckled in response.
"Oh sorry," Blaise said after he had walked around the corner in the halls and bumped into a person. Looking up he saw a familiar mane of yellow hair. After quickly making the apology he tried to rush off only to be stopped by being grabbed by the left shoulder.
"Hold it right there Blaise," Yang said pulling his shoulder turning him around only to show her the scar causing her to pull back from shock. "Oh god, Blaise, your face."
"Yeah, it is scarred. Happened yesterday," he replied pulling his shoulder back.
"How did this happen?"
"Aura piercing blades," Blaise explained as he turned to walk away only to be stopped by Yang again.
"We need to talk."
"No, now we don't," Blaise said turning around. "I broke up with you, nothing else really needs to be explained."
"Not that. Look, I don't care that we broke up, but avoiding me and my team because of it really pisses me off. Did you know that Ruby has been somewhat depressed since she misses building weapons with you?" she asked prodding him in the chest. "Normally I would go to any guy who spent that much time alone with my sister and beat the shit out of him, but nobody shares her interest in weapons like you did. She may be childish and impulsive, but she doesn't have that many friends. Sure she may be friends with all of us, but that's more like Stockholm Syndrome. You were the first person she could talk to about several different weapon modifications here at Beacon.
"Blake may not admit it, but she enjoyed reading books in the library with Lapis. Now she is tiring herself out searching for leads with the White Fang and she doesn't have any time to read her books anymore.
"Weiss even misses being able to talk with Eva about school and their family's companies. Since she is from a rich family it was hard for her to make friends, but she told me that whenever her father would force her to go along with him to the Manos company she would actually enjoy meeting with Eva.
"Now with our breakup both BLZE and AQRS have been keeping their distance from both RWBY and JNPR. So I really don't care about our breakup, just come back to the group and everything can go back to normal."
"I will have no problem with that, just as long as it doesn't get awkward between us. You see, the reason I broke up with you in the first place was because I was starting to get my memories back," Blaise explained confusing her.
"What does that have to do with anything?"
"Before I broke up with you I threw you on the ground and attempted to stab you in the neck."
"Oh."
"Yeah, I wasn't in the best of mental states at that time, I mean I did try to kill a lot of unarmed students, but I'm better now," Blaise reassured her. "It may have taken going back to my old town to discover my past then nearly dying at the hands of a robot army, but I'm better now."
"Right," Yang cautiously said. "Well, if you say we're ok then I'll tell the others. See ya, Franken Wolf."
"Why do people keep saying that?" Blaise asked her as she walked away.
"So may I ask what you are doing here?" Ozpin asked the man sitting in the chair across from his desk.
"Give it a couple of seconds," the man replied and swiveled his chair around in time for the office door to open and for Blaise to walk out with Glynda behind him.
"Oh no," she said leaving after she saw the man in the chair.
"Come on," the man complained then turned to Blaise. "Hey bro."
"Sedric?" Blaise asked igniting his claws.
"Mr. Campione," Ozpin said causing the two to look at him.
"What?" they both asked simultaneously.
"Nothing," Ozpin replied motioning for Blaise to stop. "So, from what Sedric tells me you two are brothers. Is that correct Blaise?"
"Well, yes," Blaise replied flickering the black flames off of his hands.
"And you did not deem that necessary to inform me of that piece of information?" Ozpin asked him sipping from his coffee mug.
"Well, I-"
"In his defense he did have amnesia," Sedric interjected.
"And you never bothered to mention the fact you two were related during your stay in the detention center?" Ozpin asked the second wolf faunus.
"Some people will go to extremes to protect their family. I mean, Lucia knew that when she saved me, sorry about that by the way, aura piercing sleeping darts," Sedric apologized, "but she knew about Blaise's amnesia so she didn't tell you our full family history. I mean we had a brother who killed a few of your students before one of them managed to kill him and take his swords that Blaise uses now." Blaise was about to bring up Lucius but then decided to reveal it at a later date.
"So, you worked for the White Fang, created monsters capable of killing several hunters in training as well as some full fledged hunters, managed to escape a high security school while assaulting me, and then you came back," Ozpin summed up for the two and Sedric nodded in confirmation. "Then why are you here?"
"I'm out," Sedric said relaxing in his chair. "I managed to screw up three times so the nameless 'Queen' decided to have me eliminated. I managed to convince the person sent there to allow me to die by my own way so I jumped into the wendigo pen. I managed to survive by shooting my right hand into the building during my descent pulling a random WF grunt out of the building into the pen so the wendigos would eat something making me look like I died. I then managed to escape by climbing around the building. After I was free I decided since there was no other place I could go I would just come here and be at your mercy."
"You have no connection to the White Fang?" Ozpin asked opening a drawer in his desk.
"Not anymore. They all think I'm dead."
"Ozpin, what are you doing?" Blaise asked approaching the two men.
"Just something similar to what I did with your sister," Ozpin explained taking out a piece of paper and placing it on his desk. "Since Sedric here no longer has any reason to work with the White Fang, and if what he is telling us is true, then our only option is to request his help. If he can somehow create a way to counteract the White Fang's mutant army, then we need his help."
"So you're just going to offer me a job here?" Sedric asked dumbfounded.
"Well, it's either that or send you to General Ironwood's mobile prison for you to be contained for crimes against human and faunus kind," Ozpin said sliding the paper over to Sedric for him to fill out. "If you work for Beacon all your crimes will be forgiven and you will have a clean slate, but you will be constantly observed, just as a safety measure."
"Are you serious?" Sedric asked as he looked over the form.
"I've made more mistakes than any man, woman, and child on this planet. But this seems like the correct course of action to hopefully prevent future casualties," Ozpin said passing Sedric a pen. Then he turned to Blaise and smiled. "So, it would seem you had an eventful trip. You also know that you're going to have to fill out a report since you had team JNPR sent over to assist." He opened up a different drawer and handed Blaise a paper and pencil. "But I'm sure some details are not as important to fill out."
*heavy breathing* finally, we're done. The Blaise/Yang confrontation went down differently than what I was hoping for, but it got the point across and sets up with what I am planning for later.
Sedric: Why did you almost kill me, the fangirls were freaking out.
Blaise: What fangirls, they only care about me
J. Van A: Oh shut up, neither of you guys have fangirls. If anything Eva has more fangirls than you guys, and she is a girl.
Now that we cleared that up I can actually get some decent sleep since finals are over.
Have a good day guys, I hope you get lots of sleep.
I'm going to- *falls over*
