Hello, hello, hello. I have finally returned from vacation, about a week and a half ago, and I had written the chapter 6 of Team STAR, so now finally I have finished the newest chapter of a BLZEing Remnant.
Also, I have brought in a new team, thanks to Kaimi Kreissel for letting me use theirs. It is really easy to spot them since I pointed it out in the text.
Enjoy
The rest of spring break went off without much of a hitch. Lapis and Quinton both returned from home a few days after Blaise's trip to Mistral. The next day Zaria and the rest of team AQRS returned. For the next few days they were expecting the return of the group's resident gremlin, as Blaise put it, but for some reason unknown to them she wasn't answering her scroll.
"So, do you think she got caught up with something back at the mansion?" Zaria asked rolling on the bed onto her back to look back at her team. "Maybe there was another wraith attack and she was stuck there."
"Not possible," Blaise said folding his new combat suit before placing it in a suitcase and sliding it under his bed. "Lucius would've sent me a message or something. This morning he sent me a picture of the twins holding hands while sleeping, so I think there's nothing bad going on at the estate."
"And I checked the news," Lapis said closing his scroll, "there are no reports of airships crashing so I think it is safe to say that she's not dead. I even called her father and he said she left yesterday."
"So what is she even doing?" Zaria asked raising her magazine over her face to continue reading her article.
The girl in question was currently riding on an airship to Beacon after spending the night in Vale. After the airship from Mistral landed Eva decided to go shopping and had lost track of time so she had decided to spend a night at a hotel.
On the way to the airships she had turned a few heads, but not for the same reasons as before. Before the main reason was her height as people passed by from the initial shock from her height, this time it was because of different reasons.
After the airship had landed she promptly headed towards the dorms avoiding most of the students; the only acknowledgement from people who might've known her were simply by a quick second take before turning away confused.
Managing to reach her team's dorm room door, she took a deep breath before using her scroll to unlock the door and enter the room. The reaction of each teammate could not be any different.
Zaria turned her head to the side to see Eva walking into the room. Her expression was originally tired from reading. Then moments after she had turned back to her magazine she froze dropping the whole magazine onto her face. Lapis originally was shocked as he nearly dropped his scroll; after calmly setting down his scroll he looked over at the archer waiting for an explanation. Blaise jumped from his spot coating his hands in aura creating his claws lunging at the door. "Who are you and how did you…? Eva?" he asked retracting his claws.
"Hi," she sheepishly greeted.
"How did you get tall?" Lapis asked.
She nervously chuckled. "Well," she began, "Lucius and Marilyn had created a new drug that turns on several parts of your brain signalling to the rest of the body to begin growing at an accelerated pace. It was originally designed as a thing to help with physical therapies for building muscle, but they found that it made the whole body grow without accelerating aging. Both Lucius and Marilyn said that it would help maximize my combat ability, so I agreed."
"And your dad was ok with them experimenting on you?" Blaise asked somewhat shocked.
"He said it was perfectly fine and that all the test trials were successful without any negative side effects. Also I think he said that since I was the older sister I should probably be taller than Helena when she stops growing," she explained getting slightly annoyed at that part of the sentence. "So, during the rest of spring break I had undergone the treatment; which of course meant I had grown out of my old clothes, so I bought a whole new wardrobe and had some of the scientists modify my spear to better suit me in combat."
Zaria quickly jumped off of her bed and did a mid-air somersault landing right in front of her partner. Then she reached up and placed a hand on each of their heads. She smiled. "At least you're still the shortest one on the team."
"Thank god," Blaise sighed in relief, "I thought I was going to have to come up with a new set of jokes, and there are no average height ones."
"Come on," Eva complained, "I thought that I would at least outgrow those stupid gremlin jokes."
"Eva, we are nearly done with the first year of Beacon," Lapis said standing up from his bed. "If you were to have done this earlier in the year we might've stopped with the gremlin jokes, but it is too late. Now, we have some combat classes today for individuals to qualify for the Vytal tournament."
"Wait, that was today?" Blaise asked then reached under his bed for the suitcase.
"You're seriously going to try for that?" Lapis asked him picking up his armor pack he had been working on since he had gotten back. "You do know Goodwitch will make you fight a whole team again."
"I beat CRDL remember," Blaise reminded them of his exploits earlier in the year.
"Which is why you won't be fighting them."
Glynda Goodwitch walked into the middle of the arena and began addressing the students gathered in the stands. "Today we will begin the start of the end of the school year with a day long combat class where students who wish to participate in the Vytal Tournament coming up with be put through rigorous testing. Students who do not wish to go through this testing may just have a normal sparring match, or if you believe your team is good enough, your team may fight those attempting to qualify. Do we have any volunteers?" There was a complete silence in the room as nobody wished to fight first. That was until one hand was raised cloaked in black aura before revealing claws. "Mr. Campione, why am I not surprised. Please make your way down to the arena while your opponents ready themselves." Blaise simply nodded grabbing his suitcase before heading to the locker rooms.
"So, has Blaise actually ever lost a sparring match?" Alex asked the rest of BLZE, and both RWBY and JNPR.
"Not that I've ever seen," Jaune said to AQRS's leader.
"Well, he did lose one," Ruby said drawing all the eyes in around her, including the ones from Emerald, Mercury, and Cinder. "We had a sparring match with modified weapons earlier this semester, and I ended up beating him."
"How did… what?" Zaria asked somewhat lost for words.
"Team AQRS," Goodwitch said getting the attention of the team from the arena. "Would you be willing to fight Mr. Campione?"
Blaise had taken a few moments to pull on his newly modified combat attire taking the plating off his arms and back to make room for his broadswords on his arms. He also modified the armor plates to hold spare ammunition clips instead of excess weapons.
Finally taking off his glasses he pulled the cloth mask onto his face and grabbed his coat to pull it on as he went into the arena. Entering the arena he activated his broadswords slowly constructed them as he approached his opponent.
"So, here we are again," Alex said to Blaise as he and the rest of his team entered the arena. "You do know we won't go easy on you."
"Good," Blaise smirked activating his semblance igniting his broadswords with black flames, "because I won't go easy on you either."
"Alex, do you think this is a good idea?" Reita asked him pulling out her sniper rifle.
"What is there to worry about?" he asked looking at his cousin. "Our team was beating his for a while and now it is just one guy."
"But Alex, do you remember?" Blaise asked as the buzzer sounded. Not even a second went by before he launched himself from his starting position leaving black flames behind him appearing right in front of the rival team leader. "I kicked your ass before."
In one swift moment he swung the broadsword connecting with the leader's chest before throwing him into the wall. Using the momentum from the first swing Blaise spun around and swung the second blade at Quinton. Quinton quickly blocked it using his shield as Reita kneeled at a distance and shot three bullets hitting Blaise in the back.
Using Blaise's reaction time to the sniper rifle bullets Quinton parried Blaise's broadsword then braced his shield between them both before activating his semblance. Connecting the shield to Blaise's body he didn't give the wolf faunus any time to react before he began charging towards the wall.
Blaise looked behind himself and saw the wall was coming up fast and retracted both broadswords into his sleeves. Reaching to his belt he pulled the trigger on his cutlass rocketing the blade into Quinton's helmet slowing him for a second. Using that second Blaise pushed himself back from the shield just enough to plant his feet on the shield then grabbed his flying cutlass.
Jumping off the shield he aimed the cutlass off to his left and used the cun counterparts recoil to send him flying away from the juggernaut. Then he outstretched his left arm and launched his broadsword into the ground at an angle in Quinton's path just as a katana blade connected with Blaise's back sending him flying up towards the ceiling. Then before he could even react another katana blade connected with his chest throwing him into the ground as he heard a loud crash a short distance away.
Quickly raising his cutlass he blocked Shizuko's katana just as Reita's shortsword hit the ground right next to his neck. Kicking his legs up off the ground, curling his body as he did so, Blaise kicked both girls in the face before landing the impromptu cartwheel/flip. Dropping his current cutlass he drew both of his railgun pistols and fired one shot into each of the girls' chests throwing them both in opposite directions giving him a moment to catch his breath.
Or so he thought before a rocket hit his chest exploding, throwing the wolf faunus into the wall. Landing on the ground he quickly did a roll to avoid another rocket hitting just where he had landed. He raised his hands in an attempt to fire another railgun bullet at the juggernaut before he realized he was grasping at air; looking a short distance ahead he saw both his railguns and one cutlass on the ground.
'Well, this is going to be interesting,' Blaise thought to himself constructing his right arm broadsword before disconnecting it from his wrists and drawing his second cutlass.
Just as he did that he barely blocked a glowing red longsword from a slightly banged up Alex with his broadsword. Then he saw Quinton fire another rocket so he aimed with his cutlass and shot the rocket on its path to him using the recoil to connect the hilt of the cutlass with Alex's face.
Using Alex's brief moment of disorientation Blaise swung with his broadsword hitting Alex in his now probably sore chest throwing him again into a wall. Just as Alex collided with said wall a fourth rocket hit Blaise's back disarming him as he was thrown into the wall.
Picking himself off of the ground Blaise ran through his options at the moment and found himself very limited. Launching himself off of the ground to avoid the fifth rocket Blaise used the blastwave from the explosion to propel himself at the juggernaut while extending his wrist blades.
"Enough Mr. Campione!" Glynda Goodwitch commanded as Blaise felt himself stop in mid-air. "We do not need you killing your opposing team. You are clearly qualified for the tournament." She swiped her riding crop dropping Blaise onto his feet.
He retracted the blades and his claws. "That was all I needed to hear," he said then outstretched a hand to Reita who was currently getting up and tried his best apologetic smile. "Hey, sorry about that."
"No problem," she said taking his hand and stood up. "Now, can you go over and help my idiot of a cousin who completely forgot to use his hydrokinesis."
"Now that we have had that… interesting spectacle," Glynda said after fixing up the arena from the damages caused by Quinton's rockets. "Now, is there anyone who wishes to spar next." Silence yet again until Blaise entered the stands and was about to raise his hand before being punched in the shoulder by Quinton. Moments later there were the sounds of a silent argument to AQRS and Blaise's left before the silent group stood up. "Alright," Goodwitch said looking at her scroll, "Team BRNZ (quick A/N: Team Bronze which Kaimi Kreissel is letting me use.), I see your team has finally returned from your mission."
"Who are they?" Alex asked Blaise as they all sat down next to their friends.
"I honestly don't know," Blaise said looking over the team that now was heading down to the arena. "Maybe they were previously shadow people."
"Shadow people?" Reita asked leaning in to hear Blaise better.
"Yeah, shadow people," Blaise began, "During our whole first semester if you looked at people in the distance or if they weren't doing anything they appeared as silhouettes."
"That's actually kind of disturbing," she replied shivering a little bit before Eva groaned and grabbed Blaise's wolf ear and pulled it.
"Don't mind him, he's being an idiot," Eva said tightening her grip a little on his ear. "There are no such thing as shadow people. He just doesn't pay attention to people who he doesn't talk to much."
"Shadow people exist!" Blaise exclaimed while trying really hard not to yell in pain.
"He just doesn't recognize a few of them," Lapis said then pointed to the tall one with brown hair tied into a bun currently firing shining crossbow bolts from his crossbow. "He is Bruin Brown, he was the overly excited student on the first day of school in Professor Port's class when Blaise was sleeping. The rest of his team is Rouge Rhodolite, Nicandra Nepal, and Zelony Zomp." He pointed to each of the team as he said their names.
Rouge currently was dueling with another student using her barbed sword, then she spun around for a second and the sword broke apart into a razor whip and wrapped the student immobilizing him for a second so he could be hit by Bruin's shining bolts. Nicandra quickly used her semblance and stopped her current opponent from reaching her by the means of a rock barrier. Then a large rock appeared above the student before setting ablaze and rocketing into said student.
Zelony was currently at the front fighting with what could be described as the team tank. The tank was currently swinging a large warhammer aiming at Zelony's chest before he whipped out his weapon wrapping around the hammer redirecting it into the ground.
"Is that a yoyo?" Zaria asked looking at the weapon wrapped around the hammer head. "What good is a yoyo in combat."
Before anyone could answer her, Zelony stuck his hand out and what appeared to be a pulse shot out from his hand causing the tank to stop moving in the middle of lifting his hammer out of the ground. In one swift movement the yoyo was free from the hammer and several large razor blades shot out of the sides right next to the string. Then he began to whip the yoyo hitting the tank's chest shredding though the student's aura at a rapid speed with each hit before returning back into his hand.
The the student started moving again and was about to hit Zelony's chest with his hammer again. Just before the hammer connected he leaned back surprisingly far. Planting his free hand on the ground he kicked upward just as the warhammer passed his body kicking the tank in the head. Just as he was in a handstand position he flicked his hand holding the yoyo shot out and hit the tank in the face drawing his aura into the red.
As soon as the tank fell the rest of BRNZ finished their opponents and the buzzer sounded signaling the end of the match.
"Thank you, team BRNZ," Goodwitch said taking their team's off of the monitor using her scroll. "It seems that your team has not been lacking in your training even though you were on a mission for the last few weeks."
"They were on a mission?" Shizuko asked them in hushed tones to avoid the Goodwitch's gaze. "I think they missed spring break."
"It's not a good idea to talk about people behind their backs," a voice said from behind them. Looking at the source of the voice the two teams could only see four silhouettes.
Reita shrieked. "The shadow people!" she screamed jumping from her seat in the back straight forward landing behind Blaise who was currently nervously sweating.
"What are you even talking about," the voice said then the silhouettes moved covering one of the lights behind them showing team BRNZ and the one was the dark pink haired member of team BRNZ, Rouge. "There are no such thing as shadow people."
"How did you guys even get back up here within that amount of time?" Eva asked looking at the arena then the stands. "You guys would've had to of run from the arena, throw your weapons in their lockers, and run up to here to wait behind us for us to talk about you guys."
"Ssh," Zaria said placing her finger on Eva's lips to silence her. "We do not question the random impossibilities in the laws of science that occur here."
"Now that I think about it, where's RWBY?" Alex asked looking around for team RWBY only to see Blake reading a book and JNPR cheering. Looking over to the arena the buzzer sounded off signalling the end of the match. Getting a better look he saw RWY standing over the beaten team with smiles on their faces radiating a dark aura and he swore he could hear chuckling. "And that answers my question."
"So, Pyrrha," Jaune said getting her attention, "Are you going to spar against a team by yourself to see if you qualify."
"Jaune," Blake said looking up from her book, "I think she is qualified enough just from her reputation and sparring record from this year."
"Well," Pyrrha said standing up from her chair, "It has been a long time since I have fought a whole team before. I think I'll give it a try." She then started to walk down to the locker room to get prepared after confirming it with Goodwitch.
"So," Bruin said looking at the arena, "does she do this sort of thing normally?"
"Well," Blaise said looking over to JNR briefly pausing over Jaune, "I think this is an attempt to show off."
I bet you were kinda disappointed that Eva didn't fight... well I'm disappointed in myself too. I'm also disappointed in the new Fantastic Four movie, so life is full of disappointments.
Anyway, to leave on a somewhat happier note, I will be working more on A BLZEing Remnant with hopes to finish it before summer ends, that way I can work more on my senior year and working on getting into college. I should be able to get in easy, but I might as well try hard.
So, hopefully this story will update faster than it has been. Big thanks to Kaimi Kreissel, it might take a bit of work but I should be able to work them into my writing style a bit better than they are in this chapter.
Have a good day everybody,
-J. Van A
