Chapter 9
~Maka's POV.~
It's been a couple weeks since Soul told Kim,Blair, and Jacky off. Soul never leaves my side while at school. When ever I see those three in the hallways they just glare at me and then turn. Sometimes Soul sees the looks they're giving and he gives them the go-near-her-and-your-dead-meat stare. They haven't bullied me since they were told off. To be honest I'm kinda scared. They usually bulling me each day but now they've stopped. That's why it's scaring me I keep thinking that they are planing something evil. I'm glad I have Soul to help me out he's assured me that nothing's going to happen but I can seem to get it off my mind.
"Hey, Maka?"
I was shaken from my thoughts when Soul called my name out.
"Yeah, what is it Soul?"
"The whole gang is going to play basketball. Do you want to come?"
"I'm not really good with sports so I think I'll go home and read."
"Come on Maka your going to grow mushrooms if you sit around and read all the time."
"I will not Soul!"
"Yes you will. Now just come with us please."
"Fine! I'll come with you."
"YES!"
"Oh and we need to stop by the house to get changed into something more appropriate for playing basketball."
"Okay."
As soon as Soul and Maka got home they rushed to they're rooms to get changed.
Maka changed into a yellow jacket,pink jeans, and sneakers,her hair down out of her usual pigtails. When she finished getting ready she walked out and saw Soul waiting for her.
He was wearing he was wearing a dark blue sweat shirt with "EAT" on the upper left side,light blue jeans,sneakers, and to top it off instead of his black headband in his hair he had a white one instead.
"About time you came out, what took you so long?"
"I couldn't decide what to wear."
"Geez girls always take so long to get ready."
Maka rolled her eyes at him then turned and walked to the door.
"Come on Soul. Lets go."
Soul was about to anwser but realized Maka's hair wasn't up in its usual pigtails. Her hair went all the way down to her lower back when it was down. It looked much better down then in pigtails.
"Hey Maka. Your hair looks much better down. You should keep it like that then up in your pigtails."
Maka blushed and thanked him. Soul just smiled showing off his razor sharp teeth.
As Soul and Maka walked up to the basketball court they saw all they're friends waving at them.
"It's about time you got here! Your god doesn't like to wait for his peasants!"
"Shut up Black*Star! It was Maka's fault anyway. She took so long just to change."
"Hey I told you I didn't know what to wear!"
"Whatever, okay now that we're all here lets divide up the teams."
Once they were done picking team members it was Maka,Black*Star and Patty on one team and Soul,Kid, and Tsubaki on the other. Liz chickened out at the last minute because she didn't want her beautiful nails to be ruined.
"Okay let's make this game more interesting." Soul said.
"How?" Maka asked.
"A dare." Soul said with an evil smile.
"What's the dare?"
"If our team loses then the team captain which is me has to serve you any way possible. And if your team loses you have to do the same."
"B-but why do I have to be team captain? Why can't Black*Star be team captain?"
"Because we want you to b team captain. Even though your not as big a Star as me I'll step down from the spotlight this one time."
"That's not a good enough answer and you choose now not to be in the spotlight."
"It hurts me not to be in the spotlight but I think I can survive for one day."
"Come on! Lets play!"
"But Soul I don't know how to play an you guys haven't giving me an answer why I have to be team capta-"
Before Maka could finish her sentence they had already started the game. Everything they did confused her.
By the end of the game her team had lost and she didn't even know how to play.
"PUNISHMENT,PUNISHMENT,PUNISHMENT!" Black*Star,Soul,and Patty chanted while rocking back and forth.
"Guys maybe we should let Maka off the hook this time."
"No way Tsubaki. Maka's team lost and now she's gotta face the punishment."
"Could you at least change the dare?"
"Fine. The guys and I will be back in a minute with a new dare."
Soul,Kid,and Black*Star walked into the woods and behind a tree to discuss the new punishment.
While they did that Tsubaki walked over to Maka who was on the ground in a ball mumbling to herself.
"Maka are you okay?" Tsubaki asked.
"I guess but I didn't even know how to play and now I have to me a maid to Soul."
"It's okay Maka."
"Okay, speaking of Soul where did he and the guys go?"
"Oh, I talked him into giving you a different punishment."
"Really?"
"Yep,they went behind that tree over there to discuss it."
As Maka looked over to the tree that they were behind she saw them smirking. Well except for Soul he was…blushing? Why was he blushing?
After a couple more seconds the guys walked over to her. She could see that Soul was still blushing like he was when behind the tree.
"Alright Maka we have decided what the new punishment should be." Soul said not making eye contact with her.
Maka got up off the ground and faced him.
"What is it Soul?"
"We'll…um…" Soul started to rub the back of his neck.
"We'll, um what Soul?"
*sigh* "Your dare is that you have to go to the Valentine's Day dance with me Sunday night!" Soul blurted out.
Maka was incomplete shock. That's why he was blushing. And now she's blushing too.
"O-Okay…"
Tsubaki and Patty were giggling like fangirls behind her.
Kid and Black*star were giving each other high fives and smirking like a couple idiots.
As they were walking home Tsubaki and Patty wouldn't stop talking about Maka going to the dance with Soul. Maka just rolled her eyes at the way they were acting.
"I CANT WAIT TO TELL SIS ABOUT THIS!" Patty screamed.
"Yeah and we also need to go shopping too."
"But Tsubaki I don't need to go shopping I already have a dress. I'm going to wear one of the ones Liz gave me for christmas."
"But don't you want some new shoes to go with it?"
"I don't know. I think I have everything I need."
"Fine but could you at least come with us to help us pick a dress out?"
"Fine."
"Yay! I'll tell big sis when Kid and I get home tonight."
"We'll go shopping tomorrow and then spent Sunday getting ready."
"Okay, but to be honest the dance slipped my mind until Soul reminded me."
"Really?"
"Yes I didn't even think I was going to go so I just forgot about it until now. No guy want to ask a girl like me to a dance."
"Maka don't say that your a beautiful girl and any man would be lucky to have you. But I'm betting that Soul may have a crush on you cause he's still blushing like crazy and so are you. Maybe you like Soul to."
"WHAT!? I DO NOT!"
"I bet you do." Tsubaki said with a smile.
"I bet big sis would agree too."
"Whatever but I don't like Soul."
"You can say whatever you want but we all know its going to happen someday."
"I doubt it…"
~Time Skip Sunday night~
The guys had left and went to Kids house so the girls could get ready. Kid told them that he would send a ride for them when they are ready to go. So the girls had spent all day getting ready and it's been kinda hard with Maka refusing to do something's. the girls just gave up and let her do whatever she wanted. Well that was Maka thought they were doing but as soon as she wasn't looking Liz grabbed her and tied her to a chair. Liz,Tsubaki,and Patty started to put make-up and curl her hair.
"Girls Stop it please!"
"No can do Maka. We are going to make you look so beautiful that Souls eyes are going to pop out of his head as soon as he sees you."
"But I don't want to have all this stupid make-up on me!"
"We'll to bad cause we aren't letting you go until we are finished."
"Fine! I really hate you three right now!" Maka said with a pouty face.
Liz and the others had finished beautifying Maka and had let her go. She ran to the bathroom and looked at herself in the mirror.
"AAAAHHHH! WHAT THE HELL DID YOU GIRLS DO! I LOOK LIKE A WHORE WITH ALL THIS MAKE-UP ON ME!"
"No you don't Maka you look very pretty."
"NO I DONT! I LOOK LIKE THE MAKE-UP THROUGH UP ON MY FACE!"
"Maka stop worrying about it and put your dress and new shoes that we got at the mall."
"Yeah Maka Tsubaki is right, plus it'll all be worth it once Soul sees you."
"Whatever!"
Maka grabbed the dress and shoes that Tsubaki was holding and slammed the bathroom door.
A few minutes later Maka came out in the purple Spaghetti strapped dress with lavender curls at the bottom that was knee high,white sandals that had were small high heels with a bow on the top. She had part of her hair down and part up and small pigtails that were put up in cute purple bows. The hair in pigtails were curled. Tsubaki,Liz and Patty's eyes looked like they were sparkling.
"Maka you look so beautiful!"
"R-Really?"Maka said blushing lightly.
"Of course you do. Like I said Souls eyes are going to pop out of his head as soon as he sees you."
The girls had finished getting ready Liz and Patty wearing the same pink spaghetti dress with light pink slip on shoes. They had to wear the same thing because of Kid. He wanted them to be symmetrical. Tsubaki was wearing a light blue dress that showed off her cleavage. She wore white high heels and had her hair down out of her usual high ponytail.
As they arrived at the dance they saw Soul,Kid,and Black*Star standing and waiting for them. Soul was wearing a black suit, and his hair was all combed out so it was all nice and neat.
Kid was wearing a full white suit with a necktie that was in a shape of a skull.
Black*Star was wearing a similar suit that Soul was wearing except Black*Stars was not neat at all.
The girls stepped out of the car one by one. First was Liz and Patty then Tsubaki and finally Maka. As soon as Maka stepped out it was like time froze of Soul. It felt like nothing was moving all he could see was the beautiful girl standing before him looking extremely cute.
Maka noticed Soul staring at her and started to blush. As she walked up to them he smiled at her.
"Maka you look very cute."
Maka blushed deeply.
"Yeah Maka you actually look like a girl."
"BLACK*STAR!"
"What I'm only speaking the truth."
"Sorry about that Maka."
"I-it's okay Tsubaki."
"Maka you are very symmetrical tonight." Kid said walking in circles around Maka.
"Kid stop that!"
"But Liz I can't help it she's so symmetrical."
"I don't care leave her alone."
"Fine."
"COME ON LET'S GO YOUR GOD NEEDS TO EAT!"
"BLACK*STAR! Stop screaming."
"Fine!"
They all walked into the building. Black*Star ran off to the food table as soon as they walked in. Tsubaki chased after him. Kid,Liz and Patty started to dance but it was weird since Kid wanted it to be perfect. Maka just laughed at them.
It has been 30 minutes since they got there an Maka couldn't find Soul she looked everywhere but couldn't find him.
When she finally found him he was out on the balcony.
"Hey Soul. I finally found you. Why are you out here and not inside?"
"Hey Maka. Big crowds aren't my style."
"Oh okay. Well are you hungry lets get something to eat."
"No thanks I don't want to stand in a long line just for food."
"How about I do get some for us."
"Do whatever you want."
"Okay."
Maka walks into the building and gets two plates filled with food. She walks back to the balcony but instead she sees Soul making out with Blair. Maka drops the plates and they crash to the floor. She runs out of the building as fast as her legs could take her. She loses her shoes as she runs.
~Maka's POV.~
I kept running and running as k ran it started to rain hard leaving me soaking wet. I ran through the woods so fast that my dress was being ripped and I was being scrapped by the tree branches. I ran to the place that I always went to, to get away from everything. I ran to the pond that I would always go to when I wanted to be alone. When I got there I burst into tears. I don't even know why I'm crying. I shouldn't care if I saw Soul kissing Blair should I? But something inside me snapped when I saw that. It felt like my heart has been ripped out of my chest. Maybe what the girls said is true. Maybe I am in love with Soul. Maybe that's why I'm crying. The tears just don't stop. I cried and cried until I heard a voice that I haven't heard in a while. A voice that's pure evil.
Someone that I hate more then anyone else in the world. But how did he get out of jail!? Why is he here!?
"P-PAPA…!?"
~Souls POV.~
After Maka left to get food Blair came out and attacked me. She pushed her lips to mine and that when Maka came back. The look on her face hurt I watched her drop the plates of food and run out. I pushed Blair off me as fast as I could.
"BLAIR WHAT THE HELL!?"
"Oooh nothing I'm finished with you now." Blair walks away.
I run into the building and find Black*Star,Tsubaki,Liz, Patty. As soon as I saw them I explained what happened and told them that I need they're help to find Maka. Of course they agreed to help.
We spilt up Black*Star and Tsubaki stayed at the dance to see if she was still there. Kid,Liz,and Patty and I went to go check around town. But Kid said that he was going to go home and get a car so it's be more easier then on foot. They left and then I started to run anywhere that I think Maka would be.
I was losing hope of finding her until I saw one of her shoes. It and the other one too. They lead to the woods. I ran into the woods seeing what looked like part of Maka's dress on some tree branches. As I got more deeper into the woods i could hear sobs. It sounded like…Maka. I could see her now she was standing by a pond crying nonstop into her hands. I hid behind a large tree and watched.
I texted our friends telling them I found Maka and to meet me in the woods. They all texted back that they were coming as soon as they can. I put my phone back in my pocket and watched Maka. I heard someone call out her name. I looked to the source of the voice. I was mortified to see who called out her name. It was her father. The BASTURD that hurt Maka. Her father was holding a knife in his left hand and had a very angry look on his face.
I called 9-1-1 and told them where I was. I hung up on the phone and looked back over to Maka. She was trembling like crazy. I saw her open her mouth.
"P-PAPA…!?"
